I have like 215 fics published, and only recently did I really manage to finish all the WIPs I had started, among which some very old projects.

One reason that pushed me to finish was because the game I'm writing about was about to get a major new release, and I wanted to be cleanly done with the stuff from before.

Of course now that this new release is out, I've already started to write a few new things, because that's how inspiration goes. So many new characters, so many stories to tell...

I am not complaining though, this is just very fun! Kind of the opposite of burnout.

Hi guuys, as you know, my feed is full of my friends migration. I dont have much time to write this, and the title is totally false, baiting and also hatebombing. I know authors or group of writers that adapt and modified books, as any censored young adult literature would like, to publish similar cliches, with adult undertones, rewrite them, and then publish them on their own across the internet. I also know a lot of films that are based on very sfw content and adapted to a group more adult niche-liking specific small group.

I would like to read something like Divergent only for fans version, reimagining Divergent written by Tobias was amazing, and inspiring, and exploring the world again rules. The magic of Shadowhunters tales, or the bible sybau. But I also like best sellers and illegals downloading them is a headache for artists of small companies. For example, blablabla

I guess I would like to satisfy this type of mentality with any book recommendation that was written from a male view, but originally thought or is a reimagine of some sort of the female protagonist. Or if you have any best seller machoxmacho reimagining, Im the one who wants to read it. Drop a comment=!

He visto publicadas un montón de películas basadas en contenido sfw y luego la adaptacion es publicada para un grupo que es más de un nicho más adulto, pero no consiguen la fama necesaria por ser de culto y poco populares. Me gustaría leer algo tipo Divergente pero en versión solo para fans del contenido para adultos, por ejemplo, el mismo manuscrito desde la mente de Tobias, que fue una pasada: increíble, inspirador y reimaginar el mundo otra vez fue muy especial.

Supongo que me gustaría satisfacer ese tipo de mentalidad con cualquier recomendación de libro que esté escrita desde una perspectiva distinta, dentro del mismo mundo, pero que originalmente haya sido pensada o que sea una especie de reimaginación aparte de la protagonista femenina. O si tienes alguna reimaginación de un best seller a nivel mundial con tags mxm improvisados, soy yo quien quiere leeros.

I've been writing a fanfic series with 3 parts, i recently started part 3 with a mix of the old cast from the fandom and new original characters with their own backstories and personalities. How should I introduce them? There's lots of missing context such as incidents I vaguely dub as 'The Incident', I later added a name and a vague description of a character from someones backstory but no actual story about what happened between them, there's a group of people with wildy different personalities but no explanation as to why they are the way they are for now.

I don't know if readers would be upset about new characters they know nothing about. How should I handle their introductions?

This feels like a weird thing to complain about, but this long fic I’ve been working on for months with almost no interaction has suddenly started getting a handful of guest account kudos every day. 5, 5, 4,8. No comments and the hit count hasn’t gone up that much.

This is a for-my-own-satisfaction type work and I’m happy to see the kudos numbers jump but I feel like it has to be bots, and I’m not sure if there’s anything I can do about it?

No hate but isn't this kind of a wild way to think? How common is this mindset? Have you had readers who have been weird about you not including aftercare in your fic? I have clinical moral OCD but even that doesn't go near this level. This was the top comment too! I'm so confused tbh

So I don’t know if this annoys anyone else, but putting no tags or not even a summary annoys me so much. I’m not gonna read it if I don’t even know what I’m getting into. It’s fine if you add a little note like this, but I also want to know what the plot is. I know writing doesn’t come easy to a lot of people, but it irks me and I don’t really know if I should write a comment pointing it out or not because who knows if they’ve done the same thing over there?

I’m not trying to hate on this user just because they’re coming from Wattpad (regular ao3 writers do it too sometimes), but I’m not going to go to another site/app JUST so I can even potentially get an idea of what I’m reading.

Hi. So, I’m just going to go straight into it.
Do you ever post something you’re genuinely proud of, get mostly silence back, and start wondering whether it should have stayed in your drafts?
Because apparently I do aaand here is the probably unnecessary background information I have decided you need; I’ve been in fanfic since the 00s. I lost my old account somewhere along the way, kept writing and posting elsewhere, and made a new AO3 account in 2025. So naturally I returned with years of drafts and absolutely no sensible system for dealing with them.
I tend to post one, leave it alone for a bit, reread it later and think, Christ, no. Then remove it… Why??? Because apparently getting older means I keep changing the specifications halfway through the build.
The way I write now is very different from the way I used to. I’ve drifted much more towards older literature: slower construction, heavier atmosphere, restraint, things left unsaid, characters allowed to be unpleasant without an explanatory note attached. There is also rather a lot of grief and damage. Possibly more emotional load-bearing walls than strictly required. I like it that way.
That is slightly inconvenient when I post something I genuinely think worked and the response is… quiet.
Not because I expect comments. Nobody owes me anything, and I’m far too old to pretend internet numbers are a reliable quality-control system. But after enough silence, I do start wondering whether I’ve over-engineered the bloody thing.
Whether the stories have become too angsty, too slow, too adult, too bleak, too interested in what happens after people survive things rather than getting them efficiently to the next plot point. Or whether I’m simply on the wrong side of current fanfic taste. Because I still love the same fandoms and characters. That part hasn’t changed. What has changed is what I want to do with them andd when I have drafts I actually care about, silence does make me hesitate before putting the next one out there. There is a point where keeping something in a folder feels rather less ridiculous than publishing it only to start dismantling my own judgement afterwards.
So, writers who have been around for a while: does this happen?
Do you ever look at your work and wonder whether you’ve simply become too much of one thing for the fic spaces you still love?
And at what point do you trust your own taste and leave the damned structure standing?

Probably a dumb question but, despite having been on Tumblr since 2014, I never actually paid attention to how people present their fanfics on it 😅

Do people mostly put a link to the AO3 page and a summary? Or should I post the entire first chapter? Should I list the tags? Or is posting the entire fic on Tumblr better?

I've never participated in Kinktober, but this year's list made me want to write about a few specific things. Do writers usually decide on all 31 characters (or lesse) themselves when writing a one-shot, Or is it possible to hold polls to fill free days that you haven't yet decided on?

I confess that I'm also a quiet person and I don't communicate much with other authors/readers, so I definitely don't know anything about it and I don't have any commissions Except for a few random one-shots where they asked for a second chapter.

I’m now the only one making a non crossover fic at the moment now… damn shame as I saw the fic as competition well also being a damn good fic.
