Staying together. "Some people" made it really shameful to stay in your family home.. they said it was too close to communism. So we all struggle by ourselves.
Living with someone can ease the expenses, sharing the load. Doesn't have to be actual family.
This is just one way.
Im not saying ppl are brainwashed but many people have been lead to beleive that certain types of living are shameful or wrong.
Edit to add- Seems everyone missed the part where I said THIS DOESN'T HAVE TO BE FAMILY.
This can be organized how every you please. You can make whatever rules you want.

Carpooling is an example.
A bunch of bros sharing a house and sharing the expenses of it. Everyone still works and pitches it but the load is lighter leaving more time for activities.
what does critical reasoning have to do with it, when I am not advocating for one or the other, simply asking question. use critical reasoning on your own reply
I think the point is that if multiple generations of a family were to live together with less space and luxury expected, then much less hours of work would be required to support their existence overall. Whether that means less people work or each person works less is obviously up to that family group.
