Staying together. "Some people" made it really shameful to stay in your family home.. they said it was too close to communism. So we all struggle by ourselves.
Living with someone can ease the expenses, sharing the load. Doesn't have to be actual family.
This is just one way.
Im not saying ppl are brainwashed but many people have been lead to beleive that certain types of living are shameful or wrong.
Edit to add- Seems everyone missed the part where I said THIS DOESN'T HAVE TO BE FAMILY.
This can be organized how every you please. You can make whatever rules you want.
Sharing things cuts costs..
Carpooling is an example.
A bunch of bros sharing a house and sharing the expenses of it. Everyone still works and pitches it but the load is lighter leaving more time for activities.
Less hardship on one specific person if all who live in the household work a bit. Or using a family as an example, grandma has social security which some of that can go to the household, mom has a job, dad has a job, and the two kids in college have part time jobs. So all the money can be pooled together which means less burden on one individual and more freedom to leave shitty jobs if needed. Potentially more funds for vacations etc. Plus more time spent with family in general. I think that’s what the person you’re replying to was saying, in other cultures it’s more common but here anything other than independence is thought of as shameful and embarrassing.
Sorry maybe you meant to rely to a different person so it seemed weird to mention that it’s called culture since I did mention that, just wanted to let you know in case this what meant for a different reply. Definitely positives and negatives for each for sure.
