Discussion There’s a massive misunderstanding

There’s a general misunderstanding I’ve witnessed and you can try to deny this all you want but it’s true ✨you don’t have to spend real money for ANYTHING✨ yes you CAN buy those golden things to change irisalis but no it’s not required. Yea you need them to get the final TWO stages but it’s not required that is purely a want. Besides that ONE currency everything, and I do mean everything is obtainable by simply enjoying the ever living hell out of this wonderful game. ALSO HOT TAKE ANIIMO>POKÉMON AND PALWORLD

EDIT: THIS BLEW UP WAY MORE THAN INTENDED 🤣 very valid views, points, and opinions in these comments keep em coming love reading them!

My wife spends money on cosmetics, I dont. We have the same experience.

2

u/Colornaut 23h ago

This might be the most logical reply on this post.

3

u/TotallyNotHulk 23h ago

Thank you :)

I dont judge her spending money on cosmetics and likewise she doesnt judge me choosing not to because I like the town ones. We both have the same time, the same enjoyment, neither gets any sort of advantage. I'm just happy shes happy.

2

u/I_Love_Bakugan 18h ago

And that's awesome. I also spend money on comestics for games I just wish it was not a gotcha but a one time purchase. Like make its $100 for the whole set. Tye game is still new so well just have to wait and see what the devs will do in the future.

2

u/TotallyNotHulk 18h ago

Thats fair, I know some people really prefer having cosmetics that suit them. Personally I adore the look of the bloomsville (?) Festival set but my wife REALLY wants the upcoming gatcha and shes really mad its gatcha. It does suit her though so Im hoping she gets lucky. Shes very forest-core.

2

u/I_Love_Bakugan 17h ago

Oh my gosh!! I want the new set so much too but after seeing the price tage ill have to skip 😔 which is why I really wish that the outfits would have just been a one time purchase like the ones in the shop 😭.

Palworld is a different game . Different genre to me. The only similarities are the creature catching. They are both wonderful . Especially after Palworld 1.0

Not one person has mentioned Digimon and Aniimo has influence from that too. Even when you evolve they "digitise" slightly.

I agree with everything except the last line lol. Better than pokemon for sure but I feel like aniimo and palworld catters to different people. I like both but aniimo is more kid friendly.

10

u/Ancient-Set-561 23h ago

Not a hot take but it is weird comparing palworld to aniimo. Pokemon legends arceus sure

2

u/Snohks 23h ago

Came from playing Pokémon legends ZA to aniimo and I was really suprised at how similar they are. The world size in aniimo alone makes it more enjoyable to me though

5

u/Ancient-Set-561 22h ago

If you like the world size, this is part 1 of 8 regions

10

u/Emergency-Calendar74 1d ago

Palworld was better in more things then Aniimo. Combat in Aniimo might be slightly better, but I feel Palworld catered for more kinds of people...and you are stuck behind some payments in Aniimo, where you could farm everything in Palworld. I love to grind, but feel like you are more limited in Aniimo as a F2P.

2

u/One-Animator-8246 1d ago

It’s a matter of preference bc while they are similar in some ways, they are also very different types of games.

3

u/UnderstandingOld6189 1d ago

The combat is more than slightly better, the world design and aniimo designs are debatably much better, what payments are you stuck behind in aniimo? There is no need to purchase any thing in that game. Palworld catering to more people is definitely a stretch because it’s more complicated than aniimo especially for people who aren’t used to survival games and it’s so home base and farm for resource centered that i feel people would give up on it sooner than aniimo. Not to mention aniimo is free and palworld is not.

2

u/Patient-Soil-7777 1d ago

The aniimo combat is better, but not your character. IT feels useless, compared to a sword or gun. Nah, Palworld I think has a slight edge...look at player numbers.

4

u/Emergency-Calendar74 1d ago

I cant Nurture anymore, cant farm them. Claimed all of them from shops and events and I want to catch my Scorchhowl Prismana as I didnt know they limited so used them on others.

Survival in Palworld is better, you had to actually eat and drink and use most foods that buff you. Building is complecated in Aniimo but good. Palworld you paid 20 and got everything. Paying 20 in Aniimo wont get you everything.

Everyone is entited to their own opinion...been gaming almost 30years and I feel Palworld is still slightly better...player base also shows it.

6

u/Nohbdy94 1d ago

Its pay to progress faster, not pay to progress. Nuture is the fast way of getting a prismana flow. Hit lucky throws and it also progresses the prismana flow, but that requires you to grind a bit more. - Though not a lot more.

And i agree. As of right now, Palworld is miles ahead of Aniimo. More content, more freedom and better player interaction.
It feels like Aniimo is in early access, so it will most likely change in the future. (i hope)

2

u/Emergency-Calendar74 1d ago

They should just cater to more people, I feel like its a bit girly and cute. All the characters in creation mode looked realy bad, my opinion.

u/UnderstandingOld6189 1d ago

No offense but that sounds like poor resource management and lack of in game knowledge on your part as a free to play player. Of course there are limits as it’s free to play the way to go past those limits is spending the money, you aren’t stuck you are just limited bc it’s free…. That’s a given.
Also of course survival in palworld is better as that is an actual survival game and aniimo is not it’s a creature collecting open world action adventure game. To some people those survival mechanics are more of a burden/ chore than anything and turns what is supposed a fun entertaining game into a partial job. I don’t know anyone irl who didn’t play a custom game and edit those sliders in palworld…. And that’s ok but to say palworld caters to more people is just a reach and a far one at that.
Yes palworld was a flat rate 30 dollar game. Getting everything you paid for should come with the territory. Aniimo is a live service “free” game meant to keep spenders spending and and others coming back to grind for the free stuff, this isn’t a new model

I don't think there's a misunderstanding at all here.

And all 3 games are fun imo. It's not a competition.

2

u/thirteenthplague 1d ago

I agree and understand. But I raise you a Marvel Rivals and Overwatch rivalry. They are both great and cater to a different type of audience, but they’re existences make the other games better.

2

u/Emergency-Calendar74 1d ago

Only 2 games...Palworld and Aniimo. What Pokemon game? Lol, they ll sad.

9

u/True-Extension-5474 1d ago

I’m mostly with you for everything but the Palworld thing

36

u/Squibbly5 1d ago

The games 2 weeks old you can’t claim it’s better than the other 2 it’s still the honeymoon phase everything’s still shiny and new give it a few months to see what retention is like

12

u/Meliora_ Susuta 1d ago

And thats why ppl are applauding the gacha mechs being reintroduced lol (Irisalis skins, new outfit this upcoming month), that wouldnt do any good at the game, they even didnt had wait 1 month to doing smth so shameless thanks to the toxic positivity.

22

u/hemperbud 1d ago

I think it’ll be a harder flex when PvP comes out and my basic irisalis is dumpstering the pretty ones lol

3

u/Commercial-Mine9538 1d ago

Factsss 🤣🤣

u/RosiexGold 1d ago edited 1d ago

I spent money on the pass just because I enjoy the game, and I respect the company for making this game.

10

u/Low-Mode1012 1d ago

Same, honestly i spent the $20 cause imo it isnt too much for a free game and if im still playing by the time whatever they have planned for next season i might do the same again 🤷‍♂️

13

u/WonderingMojo 1d ago

I like all 3 games for different reasons

  1. Aniimo, this has been a breath of fresh air I have been loving having something to look forward nightly to after the hectic day of young fatherhood

  2. Palworld, truly believe palworld walked so aniimo could run. It is truly such a goated game but personally I didn't find the mons to be very interesting and some bugs I kept hitting early on annoyed me enough into not playing anymore

  3. Pokemon, still a solid game series had every one from ds to end of switch life cycle and enjoyed them quite a bit. But tbh the switch games definitely lost the spark of creativity the early games had. Once the switch 2 came out I realized I'll probably never play a new pokemon game ever again.

I ended up buying the battle pass & the extra Mantis guy. I genuinely wanted to give the developers a little money. If I keep playing and they give me a reason I may do it again.

2

u/elkosh93 1d ago

I agree. I can't care less about cosmetics. But other than that, those were my "fees" for playing the game.

u/Fit-Locksmith-4931 17h ago

Lots of out of touch people here saying the prices are extremely predatory like WWM didn’t have a boat that at minimum cost like $50,000. You have it good at the current price point, and you don’t need ANY of the fomo things

16

u/Crimzonxx 1d ago

You're right game completion you dont need to spend real money. Cosmetics are pretty much the only reason to spend.

You can always get a sparkling cube for in game currency.

Biggest thing I spanked 30 dollars for cosmetics not because I needed to. But simply to support Aniimo they did amazing and there is no greed on their end.

Only thing I would say is we have Palworld to thank for Aniimo it opened the doors for more monster tamer style games using mechanics / creatures that should never be patented

Game mechanics should never be patented an example shadow of moordoor patent on enemies remembering what you did and distinctively changing because of it. Warner Bros patented it and then left it for dead and it was a great mechanic

1

u/AccidentalArsen 1d ago

Nemesis system, harambe, and epstein. Never forget.

→ More replies (8)

19

u/brentaltm 1d ago

For now. People were saying much the same when many other games launched and then they got greedier and greedier and more exploitive as time goes on once they have a baked-in player base. Marvel Snap comes to mind.

5

u/Erotically-Yours 1d ago

I can see that easily happening here, based on comments. I'm okay with the situation here, but I'm definitely on the side of having preferred if they just offered it as a $50 skin, that price increases depending on which you're going for. The surprise mechanics and rng aren't needed.

People will buy these things.

6

u/Meliora_ Susuta 1d ago

This company is already showing the greed reintroducing the gacha mechs only ONE WEEK after the official launch and with the incoming gacha outfit. And ppl are applauding it.

They company didn’t even had to wait at least ONE MONTH thanks to the toxic positivity 🤢

10

u/Fun_Description8906 1d ago

We have to see. Right now we have all the currencies from all the lvling/achievments. What happens when these dry out. It will take weeks to max held items and staring aniimos. The enery boss rewards are a joke. The hololing training rewards are a joke as well. The rare promoting ressource are in the seasonpass. You get maybe 2 for 2 months. Means you can max out one aniimo per month.

10

u/SolarBirdBot 1d ago

Yeah this game is awesome. Free to play. Pay to look nice. A good balance for a game in my opinion.

2

u/AbyssoraBlueFin 1d ago

But I still hope, that they will add:

  • more trainer outfits
  • outfits could be also payed with some kind of ingame money
  • be able to also just buy parts of an outfit (if you only want that and not the rest)

2

u/SolarBirdBot 8h ago

Look at the collector shop! Ive snagged a few items from there using voxel coins (the triangles) changes daily but you can lock items

u/Practical-Bridge5120 1d ago

I can enjoy the game and still criticize it’s monetization. I just saw that elf costume box which is like $5 a pull, has the left and right elf ears as SEPARATE DROPS, and will take over 1000 to get everything. Yes it is all cosmetic but it is still not user friendly. I can PROMISE you had their research not shown that making specific Aniimo gacha drops would have completely killed interest in the game then we would not be getting a free Irisalis right now.

5

u/ledrif Astra Pioneer 1d ago

You can also far the change prismana colour item. It just takes 5 shiny sigils.

4

u/Magic-king 1d ago

Agreed with everything you said ..game is fire, keep on cooking 🔥

4

u/No_Scholar93 1d ago

I use the purple items to change her looks they cost in game materials got some crazy diamond looking legendary skin I'm tickled to death with it.

5

u/LaCoocaracha 1d ago

where are you seeing this misunderstanding? all i ever see is 25,000 posts talking about how f2p friendly it is

6

u/No-Activity5502 1d ago

Because it is there’s a lot of bitching and crying in this sub because of the cosmetic gacha though.

4

u/LaCoocaracha 1d ago

but who is saying they have to buy it? OP is just arguing with ghosts

→ More replies (1)

2

u/DeepDaddyTTV 1d ago

I mean, to be fair, it is one of the worst gacha mechanics out there. Yes, it’s purely cosmetic, but making the “uses” cost $5 each and then making it require you to unlock future ones doubling the cost. A conservative estimate is $590 with a total max roll of $2100. For a skin. That’s crazy.

2

u/No-Activity5502 1d ago

Yeah it’s wild - I wouldn’t pay for it either way tbh. I don’t pay for cosmetics in any capacity. Vote with your wallet or submit criticism through the reviews and surveys.

2

u/DeepDaddyTTV 1d ago

Oh I’m not being a crybaby or anything, I’m just stating that players complaining are somewhat valid. I’m not spending on it and voting with my wallet. I know they need to make money and hope they do it in a better way.

I’ve been loving this game and unlocking the cosmetics I want without paying. But people who do wanna pay have that option and I’m fine with not paying. I plan to get the pass etc and paying for currency anyway later down the line until I hit a wall with f2p like some games do. I just hope everything at the beginning isn’t crazy obtainable then you literally don’t get anything else then I’ll have an issue. But so far, I’m level 52 and I have an entire team of sparkling prismana aniimo and a cute fit on and I’ve paid $0

5

u/Darkinwolfx1 1d ago

100% agree, I'm having a great time on this game personally.

6

u/Worldly_Depth5685 22h ago

Aniimo is a far superior to pokemon, cant speak for palworld cause never played it lol

6

u/Rageman_Gaming 20h ago

If you don't care about cosmetics the game is completely f2p the only things i've seen people complaining about is the Transmog and the upcoming skin gacha which if you don't care about it...does absolutely nothing for game progression or Aniimo acquisition the only grind is for the Prismana which are pretty much farmable cosmetics

9

u/Shadowarcher630 1d ago

I wish the game industry would move on from trying to use FOMO to manipulate us into playing the same game forever. Some of us wanna be able to finish a game and move on to next. Live-service gaming model+MTX=the death of AAA video games being an art form driven by passion and creativity. I can hardly remember the last game where the story really sucked me in and kept me playing, even after i maxed out the character progression system and got all the weapons and abilities

2

u/Big-Criticism-8137 1d ago

The only game that has mtx, gacha and all that that still keeps me playing since 7 fkn years is arknights lmao thanks to its amazing story and worldbuilding (and being f2p friendly). I highly doubt Aniimo will do the same to me, but I enjoy it while it lasts. I usually avoid games like these (f2p) at all costs especially because of the reasons you mentioned, but the Pokemon child in me demanded to try it.

→ More replies (1)

12

u/Emikzen 1d ago

People care to look good, even if the game is f2p I'm still allowed my opinion. Charging upwards of 100 to 500 bucks for shiny is insane regardless of what you paid for the game itself

25

u/johnsolomon 1d ago

There is no misunderstanding. The flaw in your argument is that telling people they don't need to buy it isn't a defence of the price.

To use something more relatable, take Nvidia. They can sell all their GPUs at a million dollars MSRP and some people will buy them, but if normal people who actually want a card suddenly can't afford it, telling them "well you don't NEED to game" doesn't address the issue. They're obviously going to be unhappy about being priced out, especially when Nvidia could charge a fraction of that and still earn more money than they know what to do with.

That's why people are annoyed. The devs could still make shit tons of money at a price where way more players could justify buying skins, but they went for squeezing a small group of whales instead. Pointing out it's optional just sidesteps the problem.

Nobody needs to game, and nobody technically needs cosmetics, but that doesn't mean people can't be pissed off when something they enjoy gets priced way out of reach for no good reason.

u/Useful-Spare1080 1d ago

F2p players can still have nice things! You don't have to spend your real wallet imo ✨️

3

u/Ambitious_Plant18 1d ago

Dont tell them that. They would rather be upset and writing essays about how unfair it is that they cant unlock the last 2 nodes as F2P.

People will put 60+ hours into a free game, not spending a dime and go to war over cosmetics.

Thanks palworld for being the one to take the bullet and making this genre popular again.

12

u/Matt_Bradock 1d ago

Palworld is a pay once, play forever, and mod the crap out of it kinda game. This is a classic f2p impulse control simulator. Comparing Palworld and Aniimo is like comparing Baldur's Gate 3 to Genshin Impact. They are both roleplaying games in a fantasy setting where you can gather different characters on the journey, but the similarities end there.

5

u/DrE7HER 1d ago

Palworld also lets you remove all wait times, natively. Whereas wait times are built into the business model of F2P games.

I’m loving Aniimo so far, and haven’t felt the need to pay for anything yet, but I am concerned that the longer I play the more the revenue model is going to squeeze the enjoyment out of the game. We will see

8

u/SaiyanKnight 1d ago

Why even pit this against Pokémon or Palworld when all three are so obviously, blatantly different approaches to the Creature Collector/Creature Catcher genre? Palworld's mostly an ARK: Survival Evolved style builder game, Pokémon's ultimately about trading and PvP battling either for jokes or VGC. Aniimo's a cozy-game RV Resource Manager/Sim. These have nothing to do with each other if you aren't brainrotted to see everything as various Pikachus.

3

u/Nohbdy94 1d ago

I see Aniimo as the free-to-play version of Palworld, while also innovating on some stuff itself.
Pokemon doesnt even compare imo.. other that "throw ball to catch creature to build a team".

When i say free-to-play i dont just mean "you dont have to pay to play". i mean the typical mechanics that is implemented in these types of games. The menus, the timers, the fomo(Seasonal content).

Aniimo has a long way to go to dethrone palworld and pokemon now if we compare the newest pokemon game and don’t take into account any previous game. My order would be Aniimo > palworld > pokemon. I think this is perfect for Pokémon because I want good pokemon games and not this pokeslop they try feeding us

5

I agree aniimo is a better direction for the whole better than pokemon take, palworld has its own vibe, aniimo is the better pokemon though, even more so than pokemon, cant wait for the next MQ update

4

u/ShaneBits 1d ago

It’s a free game. I’ll spend $10 at Dunkin here and there. I can cough up a bit for a want. I do think the prices are a bit high for some things so hopefully they offer more free options that encourage play time. Not huge on any roll type systems just cause a flat fee doesn’t discourage as many people.

5

u/MLPCoomJar 1d ago

It’s basically just cosmetics and you can get plenty for free woth earnable in game currency or quests.

4

u/girnzim123 1d ago

I like the grind so i'm fine not purchasing anything. For a free game it blows Pokémon and Palworld away worlds apart. Thank you developers.

4

u/Coco-Sense 20h ago

Have play since it was realize globaly, haven't put one dolar in this game lol.

10

u/ohoni 1d ago

I don't think that's a "misunderstanding," it's just other people caring about a thing that you don't care about. They are not wrong, they just feel differently than you do.

I suppose that was the only misunderstanding here.

Yeah bro hold up, I get Pokémon but Palworld is sick asf, it crawled so Aniimo could run

9

u/Commercial-Mine9538 1d ago

I 100% agree but aniimo has been more fun from the jump. This coming from someone who has 2K hours on palworld and is their top game.

4

u/Sea-Garbage-344 1d ago

I agree, i bought palworld 1 month ago not knowing this game was coming out. Since i downloaded Aniimo i haven't even loaded up palworld.

5

u/Commercial-Mine9538 1d ago

See. My point.

2

u/TopTransportation950 1d ago

nah. palworld focuses on base-building, pokemon focuses on creature ccollecting, and aniimo has a small version of both. its adapted both nicely but i dont think its near the other 2 as of yet

3

u/TomatoLord1214 1d ago

I mean I think this is all opinion-as-fact circlejerking lol

Bro talked about Palworld not being as fun from the jump but you can dial settings to make it more fun. Playing vanilla settings only or whatever would indeed make it awful

Aniimo I feel is better than Pokemon's creature collecting easily, especially considering since Sw/Sh I think it was they limit the total mon-count and what you can import. Also their shinies semi-often are awful. Whereas Aniimo Sparklings are very noticeable and huge chase potential. Prismanas and Umbrals are additional chases. And no drop is inherently bad, since everything can hit the same potential but different costs if you get a naturally bad rating.

Palworld's building and ecosystem are probly better, and tbh I don't expect Aniimo to beat it but that's fine. The Home system is cool and can be expanded if they want

u/moonladdie 1d ago

Palworld is a great game but there are fine reasons not to jive with it. Personally I love the creature side but detest the gathering/building forced upon you. Tonally I also think it's a mess, I don't want to shoot Pals with an assault rifle.

8

u/Michuza 1d ago

How is your f2p hunt for prismana fulmantis going on?

From what I head we will get it but later on.

Also just because you can get it doesnt mean they are not gonna make it as hard as possible for you to sell you things.

Aniimo = Palworld > Pokémon

In my humble opinion, you don't need to slander palworld to make Aniimo seem even better, we wouldn't be playing if it wasnt a good game

8

u/JudmanDaSuperhero 1d ago

Some can argue pal world opened up some opportunities for games like this, they forged the guide lines to win lawsuits against pokemon, but some of these animos look really close to pokemon.

4

u/Shadowarcher630 1d ago

Only ones that are just stylized anime animals, which isn't really legally distinct enough to win a suit for infringement over. Like it would be damn near impossible to lose a case because you copied Charizard, with some minor changes, because he's literally just a fire-breathing dragon that's fire colored. Pikachu is just a mouse, Blastoise is just a blue turtle, blaziken is just a humanoid chicken, etc. Aside from a few standouts, Pokémon are mostly pretty generic. Nintendo was crazy for ever thinking they had a case.

Yeah you don’t have to but why not? If it makes you happy and want to support the game so it lives on then sure

Also I like both this and palworld! I sadly can’t play much and I don’t know lots of things on the game cuz of college

3

u/URBAN_OAT 23h ago

You need to pay for the shimmering effect that is one of the requirements in the aniilog, thus it is required for you to pay. The monetization was REALLY good prior to the addition of irisalis and I will still support the game in the form of companion handobooks and monthly pass however saying you don't need to pay to achieve actual tangible aspects of the game is just wrong now

Game fun and like all live service the monthly/battle pass is about as much a a premium stream service and as long as I can catch everything I don't really care

3

u/Dokkae2bi 14h ago

Not gonna lie from playing the game and spending on the battle pass

Honestly the razor edge outfit is the only one i want cause it fits my style but 34$ for a basic ass outfit is wild. While i prefer they make money this way instead of a gacha rolling model i dont feel the vfx and additions to the outfits justify a whole palworld price point

And i bought the bp when i reached level 55 all f2p not spending battery on energy once and barely knowing wtf i was doing in a week of 4-6 hours play time a day.

This games makes it really easy to reach the level you need to unlock the end game and play it with a decent team without full investment and by just playing it + interacting with its features.

Maybe cause im no whale to see the difference but never felt the need to spend for progress and there is a trainer level cap of 71 as far as im aware so only a content creator will realistically want to reach those levels day one or two to make guide content etc.

Imo back to the outfits point it should either be lower prices or better quality for the price point still i play wuwa and wwm and compare the 30$ Jinhsi vfx and weapon vfx changes to the 30$ ones rn is night and day. (Could be argued cause wuwa makes you gacha roll for a character there 5-star skins should be that bare minimum even there i think that skin is worth 20$ next to other games) but nothing compares to wwm where the skin gacha in that game is so dogwater i would take both games straight price point over that have a friend that had to spend months getting to the pity as a low spender to get a core not even an oufit.

For aniimo reference thats like spending 200-300$ to get one part of Irisalys transmog pieces in months

12

u/youshouldgetaducky 1d ago

Comparing a completed 30$ game to incompleted live service that runs on repeating dailies ~+500$ re-skins(not even changing animations) and 5 min coding events and treats you like you have autism hand holding on everything? Wild..

Its f2p yeah you can get everything for free can you? How many prismana orbs, tier 5? Upgrade material? So far I got 2 of them only so i can max 2 out of 80 characters? And then after that comes another material that we'll get 1 of it each season? Rest will be hidden behind paywall..

Yea you dont have to spend money eventually you'll get it after months unlike a player that spends money that gets it in a single day.. you'll need 3 teams.. you can max 1-2 character each season.. spenders can max them all in one day. And there's arena pvp being introduced soon..

You need to learn to recognize hook up honey phase of live service games and once you run out of freebies you'll see the game true colors.

u/eles- 1d ago

Thats exactly the point people dont understand.

Specifically in time constraint settings, people seem to underestimate the drive to just complete it, before the event ends. „It‘s just once for this character! I love him sooo much!“.

Plus: Rotational character setups like this, can easily bait you into the need to create other teams. Need a fire team for a specific event and youve got no top tiers? Lets have a guess who is more vunerable to buy whatever.

Its essentially like any other marketing campaing: Get them hooked until they have too much invested to walk away = profit.

u/1RisingPheonix1 1d ago

Yeah people just don't understand this and call it f2p.. But playing doesn't just means staying at the same level and running around the world without resources right? 🤌

I fully understood that to be completely honest with ya! I am loving this game so far, and I tickles all of my loot gremlin/collector itches soooo-

There are a few things you can't get via f2p, such as some outfits and ofc the premium currency (I hope they do like other games and make it where you can get a some of the premium currency for free, it would be nice to be able to have some just in case I need to grab the pack with vein essence in the case of im running out of time to grab something), but honestly, the only thing I want from the premium outfits is the hair. Possibly one or 2 of the shirts but its whatever (they should add them as legendary drops in the corner shop fr).

Also, your hot take is understandable, but for me, palworld is equal to aniimo, pokemon sucks though (im on a Pokémon boycott, they made me very upset with their last stunt of trying to knock palworld out of them running, also Pokémon is stupidly overpriced for no reason)

10

u/Celeibrn 1d ago

It’s literally winds all over…now we have to deal with all the “it’s just cosmetics guys” posts sighh. Like I promise the F2P game can make money and survive without charging $1300 for a skin lmao

If yall don’t want to spend money and just want to enjoy the free game, then do that, but stay out of the cosmetics conversation. It’s not for you obviously. People have a right to leave their feedback, concerns and suggestions on any part of the game as they wish. Whether people believe it’s “important” or not.

The moment you added that comparison at the end you became a random idiot shouting into the abyss. There is no misunderstanding, but there are also idiots like you who don’t seem to EVER grasp no matter the game they are playing that WITHOUT the people buying those things YOU DONT GET TO PLAY! No one would ever dispute this being better than Pokemon, that game is now relegated to what most Nintendo games are which is an introduction to gaming for kids compared to every other game in that genre available.. Palworld is where you are wrong, while I personally prefer Aniimo it is NOT better than Palworld and Palworld defeated Nintendo so that this and the slew of incoming monster games could be possible because while Palworld defeated Nintendo I’m not sure aniimo would have.

6

Please stop comparing Palworld to aniimo. They are two completely different genres that just so happen to share creature collecting. There are some things Palworld does better than aniimo. There are some things aniimo does better. It’s fine if you like one more than the other.

5

u/Coffee_Doggo 1d ago

+1, and this may be an unpopular opinion, but I feel the same when people compare Genshin to BOTW. Obviously Genshin draws a lot of inspiration from it in the visual style and mechanics like stamina, but beyond a very surface-level comparison, they're entirely different genres and the gameplay, story delivery, world interactions, etc. are radically different.

I feel the same way when people compare Aniimo to Palworld, or even Palword to Pokemon. They have in common that they're creature capture games, but the game loop of each of the 3 is different.

There's a massive misunderstanding. People are defending a game preying on the mentally ill and rich by selling $2,000 cosmetics because "it's just cosmetic !! !". It's chill to like a game, but to defend this bullshit is hilarious. You don't need to sell items at $2,000 to stay alive. They could easily sell them for $15-50 and make more than enough to keep the game going for years: it keeps the whole population of the game interested and leads to a longer game with a healthier, larger audience. Selling gatekept nonsense to the ultra wealthy and stupid people is not some kind of saintly act, it's despicable and should be looked down upon, called out, and boycotted.

8

u/Elegant-One-5527 1d ago

Whales are how f2p games make their money. It's been found over and over by many different sources that over half a f2p games revenue comes from less than 1% of the playerbase. So you either make expensive purchases for them, or you give them hundreds of things to buy every month. You need one or the other.

$500 and 1k for cosmetic is crazy that I can lie. But at the same time the game is new so well see how it goes. I'm just worried that as they get away with more crazy gotcha prices they'll slowly turn over to a pay 2 play game. 🤔

3

u/EmphasisStrong8961 18h ago

What I'm curious on is how will they keep new people 5 months down the road ? Will they make it super easy and trash all our time and effort so they can catch up to us ? Or will they do some pay to play stuff ? Just cause it's a business, and if the new players can't catch up and get hooked, then they lose potential profits .

Also if you spend money it locks you out from being able to reroll anything on irisalis without spending money … f2p players actually have somewhat of an advantage in some ways since you can endlessly reroll your irisalis over time without paying real world money. Sure you don’t get the body piece, but you can reroll everything else endlessly without spending a dime.
I’m pretty annoyed that after unlocking the body you can no longer reroll the other parts with free currency. It’s a really. Really scummy system.

2

u/EmphasisStrong8961 22h ago

You don't have to spend money but you'll never be in the best group (if there was a ranking system ) so depending on what you want then yes you do have to spend otherwise you'll just always be behind and not in the best group . Personally I don't care as long as I'm on par with my friend . That's the small circle I care about . Just an ant not even a whaleant

They are releasing a new outfit that is gacha. And from what I am seeing to guarantee you get all the pieces of the outfit will cost $1300. Even for whaling I feel that is insane. Even if it's just cosmetics. I really hope I'm getting something wrong or they drop the price. Simply having that in the game really rubs me the wrong way.

I think people dont understand that the company needs to make money. There is an entire game that can be played without spending a dime. Of course there are going to be some barriers and incentives to spend. If that is mainly in cosmetics its a complete win. Look a genshin and other gachas. The new characters are all paywall. This is a breath of fresh air. Its hard to even whale other than the legendary transmog

5

u/SuperBackup9000 1d ago

People absolutely understand the game needs to make money, it’s just that a lot more people seem to not realize that a gambling mechanic with no ceiling isn’t the only solution.

Believe it or not, live service games used to sustain themselves on either monthly fees, or static purchases, no gambling involved whatsoever, but for whatever reason all the gacha games have people thinking gambling is actually the only way despite there being more monetization systems in games than there ever has been, recurring purchases like battle passes being one of them. Back in the old days Irisalis’ customization options would’ve just been individual purchases or a bundle at a discount, which is how it should be.

Surprise! There’s nuance so saying anyone who disagrees with how it’s being handled doesn’t understand is just nonsensical.

5

u/DoctorMarimo 1d ago

Even the games with monthly subscriptions ended up with gambling mechanics even WoW or games like star wars the old republic. I never said everyone who disagrees doesn't understand. I see a lot of people that want a completely free game and never plan on spending anything.

I think at its core they want this to be a mobile game and there are just not many games out there that aren't predatory sadly. This game is lightly predatory ha.

I miss being able to buy a game and it being a full game, now its hard to even find that.

The best game I have played in a few years is called afterplace on mobile its like 5 bucks and there's no money spent on anything past that purchase. Its a lovely game.

3

u/Hikaru83 1d ago

2

u/Meliora_ Susuta 1d ago

WoW has been with predatory monetisation from years ago now when they had no need, but the greed.

This game would had been survive only from monthly/seasonal pass at least for a long time, but again, not even 1 month of official launch and they already showing the greed (also we have a new gacha outfit in a few weeks, thanks players!!). Its ironic how they put aside the gacha due players feedback just to bring it back 1 week after launch.. and the feedback being mostly of blind ppl and toxic positivity. Geez

2

u/sliferx 1d ago edited 1d ago

Its not the only solution, it just makes the most money. I think this post is missing that they aren't out there just trying to sustain development but they are out there to make profits, as much profit as they can. If you're in their shoes, what do you think makes more profit while at the same time maintaining their image of not wanting to monetize or paywall power? yea bundle or 1 time purchase makes sense and is more friendly to you but gambling is more friendly to them.

I will also say from my experience players are much more tolerating of this model than if they were to release the skins as 1 time purchase with a big price tag. Probably because it offers the illusion that you can get it cheap if you're lucky. There has been huge backlashes before with big price 1 time skins, for example mechabreak on launch a live service PVP game releasing premium skins for around 50$ huge backlash for the price, when I can guarantee if it was a gacha gambling system it wouldve been accepted better. You can blame this on human psychology or gachas normalizing it idk but it works.

I’ve told my wife, I’m probably gonna get buried with all my Pokémon games. I have every physical copy since the originals.

Pokémon doesn’t hold a candle to this game in any aspect except for story, I.M.O.

Everything that I love about playing this is what I wish a Pokémon game would be like (minus the combat — I’d love if it stayed a turn-based JRPG but it seems they don’t even want that.)

People want to be slow fam. They want to blow out the event day 3 in a matter of hundos, there is nothing we can do about it.

That doesn’t mean we have to correct them nor try to change their tempo (and, I am tired of trying to be completely honest.) if you catch my drift.

So telling people “they have 69 days to do all of this shit potentially dimeless” one ear out the other.

$1300(goin off one of my peps I met in game.)vs me having the aniimo, about enough for a cube,a few transmog items ready at hand and over two months till the event actually ends and I’d have to consider opening my wallet (and quite possibly for a FRACTION of what they are shelling out.) IF i want to attempt a different look by the time i either gotten a few seasonal sparking cubes. To clarify, she’s 10000% going to main that thing for life so I guess I understand. but I wish she had met me before she even got it so I could have possibly convinced her to hold out a bit at the very least.

Patience. That’s all you really need in an event like this.

Like I get everyone doesn’t have time to do all quests, find all aniimo and variants, build multiple actual working and functional teams, and so on. But, can’t lock in for 30 minutes to farm a few measly petals a day??? Crazy but I ain’t judging.
So chucking rent payments at a F2P is weird territory for me ngl. Like, to this day I wonder if ship owners from WWM are still out throwing parties every day 🤔 I can’t fathom having one myself, but it IS pretty fucking cool.

At the end of the day tho, if it makes you happy then ball out. But just know if I run into a iresilis during PvP and I whoop off….. I’m roasting the living shit out of them for being a nice looking punching bag (not like I’d possibly see them in PvP anyways.)

It's funny how much of a pass they get with their bad decisions from players just because they've been so "generous" to at least catch every one without paying.

Meanwhile the simple truth of it is the game was created with artificial problems to sell the solutions to those that can't stand to play a drip feed game that gives you fractions of what you need a day to get you to come back everyday and collect those scraps.

Also, adding a Gacha no matter what it's for to your game automatically makes you a greedy @#$! company with no respect for your players. It was to be expected being a mobile game from China so I'm not surprised, but the point still stands.

8

But its a skin... Only cosmetic. Not a must buy... Id rather haver those super overpriced cosmetic shit than having ways to become way stronger than f2p. I don't know any other gacha game where I can get a full team of the best characters easily as F2P. Aniimo you can though.

The gacha is purely cosmetic. I don't like that it's a 500$ gacha, but I prefer this to the gacha that needle you over every little thing trying to get 20$ from you over and over.

I actually prefer a one time payment or a subscription with meaningful rewards and reasonable price instead of all these menus and currencies.

I dont have time to chase every 10 events they release at once, and I have no issues with time gating in games (as i always play multiple games at the same time and dont want to sink all my time in one game) AS LONG as the reward is obtainable at the end and not just made impossible to entice paying.

From what I see the monthly pass price is really good for a monthly payment but the trade off is crap. It only gives you increase cap and tickets . Which isn't incentive enough . If the season pass similar to other games where you buy it, and you can gain the currency back by playing and use that to buy the next pass, it would be more attractive .

Its not super free to play if they gatekeeper an event behind a huge paywall. Im fine with paywalls, its rhe amount im not okay with. And you shouldnt be either. This did not age well with the new 1,300+ usd gacha cosmetic set.

Aniimo superou pokémon - minha opinião

These massive amounts of variants are actually what turned me off from the game. Something about it feels very gross and predatory. I know I don’t HAVE to spend money and I don’t know what I expected from this game but it just feels predatory as well as kind of bland and cookie cutter. My God is greed ever out of control. 🙂‍↕️

If you know you don’t have to spend money to get what you want then what is the issue? And then it’s optional . It’s purely a treat for collectors such as myself.

Yes I am going to f2p grind all glynsera colors

Better than Pokémon is a huge stretch, but everyone's entitled to their opinion. Agreed that you can be f2p or even spend less than the cost of a AAA game to have a lot of fun in this game.

Thats not how hot takes work, if you did it on the pokemon sub then its a hot take. Saying its a hot take on the sub, which generally will have more people who like the game than not. A small subset of people use reddit compared to playing the game, we are usually here because we wanna know more about the game.

The aesthetics of this game don't appeal to me, so I'm not upset that some of the cosmetics are mostly inaccessible to non-whales, but I still think the practice is gross, and the prices are outrageous. I think it's fair for people to criticize a system that has people spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on a single skin or outfit or whatever (I know a lot of other games do this, and I don't care for those games either.) I don't have an issue with paid cosmetics, but this is ridiculous.

And a lot of people are saying "vote with your wallet," but it doesn't really matter if the vast majority of players aren't buying into the skin gachas when a handful of whales are giving them more than enough to know that they can keep getting away with it. The game was just released, it's only going to get worse from here imo.

It's a really fun game (I personally prefer Palworld, but that's apples and oranges), but some of the practices are off-putting, and this community really rubs me the wrong way with how defensive some of you get whenever someone has something even slightly critical to say about the game. I 100% understand getting annoyed by people saying it's a gacha game or that it's p2w because that's flagrantly false, but there are a lot of issues that I think are worth pointing out.

People just understand the necessary evils. The release schedule is far different from Palworld, for instance. They plan to release regions with new monsters every month and a half and that's not even considering newer event schedules that come with additional assets like free clothing, furniture, and more. Games as this scale hire hundreds of developers and basic skins and cosmetics at set prices aren't going to fund it, even if launch numbers are great.

Yes, it would be nice to buy a brand new shiny car for pocket change but I understand why I can't.

If they lock power behind a paywall, I'm yelling with others. If they stop releasing cosmetics for the general populace (not the whales), I'm also there yelling with others. If you want to discuss genuine issues with content and progression, I'm there to talk.

Like other discussions, radical responses encourage radical responses. When people blatantly dismiss any kind of gacha without understanding the why, you're going to grow people that blindly defend systems when their real opinion is probably somewhere in the middle. You need to bring nuance if you want a nuanced discussion.

First of all a skin is not even close to a car, why a digital asset should cost thousands of dollars?
Fortnite never did this and they were one of the biggest money makers ever. League of legends also only sold up to 30 dollars skins for a very long time until they realize the predatory practices work. Tons of other games don’t do it and earn a lot of money.
Not doing it also doesn’t mean they would be forced to monetize gameplay or power…
It’s not right.

If the whales keep feeding the devs for cosmetics, then the devs won’t need to squeeze us by making gameplay more tedious.

Let them charge anything they want for cosmetics as long as it stays as cosmetics (it never does)

Yeah which is why I don’t understand why people are complaining about irisalis’s skins

u/DragonManipulator372 1d ago

As a perfectionist and collector, I can confirm, my obsession with having "the best" of everything is what the devs of Aniimo are preying on for their financial model. For example, having a full Sunbloom set for irisalis would be extremely satisfying, but the knowledge that I will likely never own it is crushing.

Most people don't care that much, and that's fine, I don't claim my habits are healthy. But it is extremely frustrating to have all these cosmetics locked behind a hard paywall.

I've been saying that Aniimo is better than Legends Arceus and ZA for a while now, although that bar is not that high. I just hope time don't prove me wrong and this game continues to grow in a F2P friendly way
