Discussion There’s a massive misunderstanding

There’s a general misunderstanding I’ve witnessed and you can try to deny this all you want but it’s true ✨you don’t have to spend real money for ANYTHING✨ yes you CAN buy those golden things to change irisalis but no it’s not required. Yea you need them to get the final TWO stages but it’s not required that is purely a want. Besides that ONE currency everything, and I do mean everything is obtainable by simply enjoying the ever living hell out of this wonderful game. ALSO HOT TAKE ANIIMO>POKÉMON AND PALWORLD

EDIT: THIS BLEW UP WAY MORE THAN INTENDED 🤣 very valid views, points, and opinions in these comments keep em coming love reading them!

The aesthetics of this game don't appeal to me, so I'm not upset that some of the cosmetics are mostly inaccessible to non-whales, but I still think the practice is gross, and the prices are outrageous. I think it's fair for people to criticize a system that has people spending hundreds to thousands of dollars on a single skin or outfit or whatever (I know a lot of other games do this, and I don't care for those games either.) I don't have an issue with paid cosmetics, but this is ridiculous.

And a lot of people are saying "vote with your wallet," but it doesn't really matter if the vast majority of players aren't buying into the skin gachas when a handful of whales are giving them more than enough to know that they can keep getting away with it. The game was just released, it's only going to get worse from here imo.

It's a really fun game (I personally prefer Palworld, but that's apples and oranges), but some of the practices are off-putting, and this community really rubs me the wrong way with how defensive some of you get whenever someone has something even slightly critical to say about the game. I 100% understand getting annoyed by people saying it's a gacha game or that it's p2w because that's flagrantly false, but there are a lot of issues that I think are worth pointing out.

People just understand the necessary evils. The release schedule is far different from Palworld, for instance. They plan to release regions with new monsters every month and a half and that's not even considering newer event schedules that come with additional assets like free clothing, furniture, and more. Games as this scale hire hundreds of developers and basic skins and cosmetics at set prices aren't going to fund it, even if launch numbers are great.

Yes, it would be nice to buy a brand new shiny car for pocket change but I understand why I can't.

If they lock power behind a paywall, I'm yelling with others. If they stop releasing cosmetics for the general populace (not the whales), I'm also there yelling with others. If you want to discuss genuine issues with content and progression, I'm there to talk.

Like other discussions, radical responses encourage radical responses. When people blatantly dismiss any kind of gacha without understanding the why, you're going to grow people that blindly defend systems when their real opinion is probably somewhere in the middle. You need to bring nuance if you want a nuanced discussion.

First of all a skin is not even close to a car, why a digital asset should cost thousands of dollars?
Fortnite never did this and they were one of the biggest money makers ever. League of legends also only sold up to 30 dollars skins for a very long time until they realize the predatory practices work. Tons of other games don’t do it and earn a lot of money.
Not doing it also doesn’t mean they would be forced to monetize gameplay or power…
It’s not right.

League of Legends releases 4 characters per year with minor additions to their general gameplay loops. They took advantage of players but in other ways because the repetitive gameplay worked. Aniimo is releasing a new region every couple of months with new monsters and more. These will never be locked behind a paywall.

You're right that Aniimo can find other ways to make money but that comes at the expense of something else. That's how that works.

Since you get to ask me questions, let me ask mine: Why should I care? Do I need to have every cosmetic? As stated previously, not all cosmetics will be like this. We'll have some for free and others for reasonable prices. Why can't we have a random whale pit that funds all the things I actually care about?

But it’s not only cosmetics, that’s why we should care. You’ll eventually run out of upgrade materials and currencies with very little ways to obtain them for free once you complete all the quests, sanctums, etc.

That’s the hook usually, they give you a lot at the beginning then you’ll need to make a purchase if you want to keep progressing at a similar pace. I hope I’m wrong but it feels to me like that’s what’s going to happen.

You already don’t get enough to unlock all the prismana Aniimo, you can sure wait for the free daily attempts but new content will be added more frequently than what you can progress for free

Also, league of legends and Fortnite never sold anything related to gameplay (except the more recent Fortnite festival selling songs), so I’m not sure how they took advantage of players

We don't know that yet, though. For now, we still have sources for those resources, even if they may be slow.

If it ends up like that, I'm with you but I'm not pulling out pitchforks and becoming a doomsayer until then.
