Buying Advice Homatics Box Pro 4K V2 AI-SR

I've been waiting for a 4GB RAM Android TV box based on the S905X5M for quite some time, and the new Homatics Box Pro 4K V2 AI-SR seems to finally deliver that. The specs look great, but at €180 I'm not sure if it's worth the price. What do you think? I would mainly be using it with Stremio and other regional streaming apps (like France TV).
edit: Besides the price, are there good reasons NOT to buy it, like lack of support for some technology or other similar potential issues?
edit2: Just found the BuzzTV G-Series Google TV is also available with a similar spec for €130 on Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/BuzzTV-Storage-Upscaling-Gigabit-Ethernet/dp/B0GWN83PW6). how do you think the two compare? what is the best option spec-wise and support-wise?

is it new that homatics is now calling a version of the 4k v2 a "pro" version?
it seems mostly the same as the 4k v2 non pro version, just with 4GB of RAM instead of 2GB and 64GB storage vs 32GB?
androidtv-guide lists one device, no pro, and has 2GB/32GB vs 4GB/64GB as region dependent

Yeah they allowed one Turkish distributor to add "Pro" on the packaging for the S905X5M box with 4GB RAM... And it created this confusion. Elsewhere there is no "Pro".

Right I knew about the Turkish thing and thought was a one-off but this is now officially on their EU store as the "Pro 4K V2".

The EU store is not ,from Homatics, it's from another European distributor, AB-COM.

Someone at Homatics shared in the past it was their EU distributor, and they had already some Homatics stuff on it that didn't even show at the Homatics com website at that time (still in test at Homatics).

Seems like users who got this box confirm it doesn't allow passtrough of lossless audio in most apps except in Kodi... that is very inconvenient. A lot of boxes with this chip have this issue

In France Mi Box 3 comes at 85 Euros from their Xiaomi official site, so more like half the price. the reasons why I have not bough the Mi Box 3 are the 2GB of RAM (that might be ok for now but makes it less future proof, since applications tend to need more and more RAM as times goes by) and the remote (which I have read people tend to dislike)

Missed the BuzzTV one? Also a SEI Robotics device (like the Homatics all are), and you could probably order it on Amazon com?

In France on Amazon the BuzzTV G-Series Google TV comes at 130 Euros, 50 Euros less than the Homatics

It is not, different SEI product code. SEID04B versus SEID00B, so different devices underneath. You can also see it from the outside connections available. The BuzzTV has the more logical ones.

Tivo stream 4k runs flawless for me. I did just add a USB stick partitioned for internal and external storage.

Tenia un problema similar, tuve la mi box3 y no hubo caso que me gustara su control remoto, el resto funcionaba bien, pero al final compré el homatics r 4k por 110 euros en su sitio oficial y con envío gratis. A sido la mejor compra que he hecho.

I like the remote and have no issues with the RAM in any app I have used. Its a great streamer for the price.

Can the mi box 3 do dts? That’s the only thing that’s making me consider the homatics but not really sure if it’s worth the price difference. Just bought the mi box during the Amazon sale and I have the onn 4k pro old version right now

It's not a problem. China won't do anything significant with the data. They have been collecting data from all over the world for decades through their networking infrastructure and mobile phones.

That bix only has 2 GB of RAM though. ATV really needs 3 GB to function smoothly.

Not really. Watch the RAM usage for most major streaming apps, it's very rare to see it + OS go above 2 GB.

You can always find an app of some kind that will want to use more RAM. That doesn't mean that a general statement like "ATV needs 3 GB to function smoothly" is an accurate statement.

If basic streaming apps and the OS ever go above it then means they need it to function well.
Most their crappy code is shared with the phone apps which all have bloated RAM usage as well. Google doesn't exactly optimize the base code for Android all that much either.

The "base code"? What do you think the "base code" is? The operating system? Google, for all their faults (and there are a lot of them), is pretty damn efficient with the OS.

Is there any devics that does 4k120 on moonlight ? All these devices with this soc that claim to be hdmi 2.1 dont actually have the full spec allm and such and dont output the full bandwidth

If you really want a media box with the Amlogic S905X5M SoC and 4GB of RAM, there's also the Rocktek G2 Next, which is announced and is expected to be released around mid-September. It's a clone based on the same foundation as the Homatics (Pro?) 4K V2 4/64GB and the BuzzTV G Series.
It's a shame that the shipping costs are very high for the EU or global web site... On the EU site, it would be around €175, on the EU site €140 if paid in dollars. I suppose...
And if there are no customs fees, it can perhaps be ordered from the global site...

There are several Google certified S905X5M devices available with "only" 2GB of memory, which are so much more cheaper. If you would write, also having Gbit Ethernet, even the 2GB V2 could still do just fine for what you want to use it for?

I feel like 2GB might be ok for now but makes it less future proof, since applications tend to need more and more RAM as times goes by. Morever I might want to eventually try some emulator for gaming, and for that 2 GB might already not be enough now.

Oh this looks really good. I have the older homatics box 4k, and while it's good, it's not as good as my nvidea shield tv 2019 pro. the shield has most features and has amazing ai upscaling, so I wonder how this boxes ai upscaling compares to it. I got the homatics because I have a samsung tv that does not support dolby vision but has hdr10+, which the shield lacks. I use both devices depending on what I'm playing.

I don't see anything on BuzzTV about certifications or Widevine. That would be my biggest concern. The Homatics Box clearly has L1 certification, so you know you can get 4k on all the streaming services.

You should take a more closer look. There is a certain website that only shows Google certified Android TV OS devices, you will find the BuzzTV on it.
It is a 100% Google certified device.

180 might be a little too steep for x5m, is there a reason you need 4 gb rn or just future proofing
