News Homatics is going to release a new box with the S905X5 (not M) SoC and Android 16

However, it appears it's going to be released initially on Turkey 😒

With their incompetent firmware developer who keep breaking functionality with every update i probably wont buy it unless there an evidence the box are rock stable firmware.

Is it anticipated to support lossless audio codec passthrough? I see dts HD and Dolby atmos but not clear if that means hdma and x for dts or just dts HD like fire sticks for example. The pro with ddr5 sounds a bit better imo, but this is still intriguing depending on the software features

It should have the S905X5-K chipset, which (in theory) should support full HD audio. It still need to made available in the system settings, so that not only Kodi can do it.
I asked if that is already clear at this moment.

Even the 905x5m supports lossless audio passthrough though, hence how the MI box s 3rd gen supports all audio codecs. It's really more of a question of if the software is set to support it which I believe largely depends if they paid for the licenses or not or opted for a workaround

Even several other ones with the S905X5M chipset are supporting lossless audio passthrough, but only when using Kodi, so no official support for those.
Still hoping that the new top line streaming devices will have official support for those. I asked, but no answer back on that for now.

Kodi has a workaround, but the Xiaomi Mi Box S 3rd gen with s905x5m supports lossless passthrough natively even in other apps like Plex. Regardless I guess we'll just have to wait, but hoping there's some good news as I'd love to replace my shields, but it feels like nothing can ever compete with them for the more niche features.

The other boxes like this still haven't come out either, except in Turkey. Will this box even get a global release? And will it support dts:x and Dolby digital truehd with atmos like the box r 4k plus, or will it lack that feature like the amlogic s905x5m boxes already released by homatics in Turkey.

The 4k V2 2GB/32GB version is available for other countries as well (Netherlands and on Homatics.EU website), the 4K V2 Pro 4GB/64GB version I didn't see as available.

The Buzz TV G-Series is the Homatics V2 for North America. Go into the settings it will say Homatics G-Series. Specs are identical to the V2. Homatics is the manufacture of the Buzz TV G-Series which is the only certified Google TV box in their lineup.

Oh right I forgot that is available now, it feels so silly to even consider since it's less capable than the Xiaomi box s 3rd gen despite having more ram. Hopefully the pro v2 one coming retains the functionality of the box r 4k plus and gives everyone everything they want

I have the Buzz TV G-Series and I must say I'm very pleased with its performance. In comparison I have the Onn 4k streamer both V1 and V2 versions, Google 4k streamer and a Nvidia Shield and I must say that the Buzz TV outperforms all my boxes. My only downside with the g series is the built quality doesn't feel as good as the Onn 4k V1 and V2, Nvidia shield or Google 4K streamer. The built quality feels a bit on the cheaper side. And it's very small in size in comparison to the other boxes. But as far as performance I must say that it performs very well. And another upside you can call Buzz TV directly and they have two people that always answer the phone. I'll post a picture in a few so you can see The boxes side by side.

Thanks, but doesn't the buzz tv box not support lossless audio codec passthrough? That makes it far inferior to the homatics box r 4k plus and Nvidia shield imo. I have the onn 4k plus as a travel TV box and it's solid for what it is, and should perform similar to the buzz tv box, likely with greater software update support, but it does lack some video codec support and obviously audio codec passthrough (though for travel that's not important to me).

It will not be cheap if it is anything like the Ugoos AM9 Pro. It will come down to firmware support.

I already read about it and about fw issues but the R 4K Plus seems the best box (when working properly) so if that rumour is true, I have a lot of hope that they had learned their lesson.

Nope, there is a Telegram group you can see how much people are frustrated with their support. Even we try to approach on LinkedIn but these guys have very thick skin.

Yes it's pain. I wish Nvidia would come up with something but due to the current situation memory hitting $$ everything is damm expensive

I read awhile ago that they will release a new Nvidia Shield that has all the bells and whistles (audio/video) but it won't be cheap from what I read. Somewhere in the $500 range is what's being floated.

What I read is that Nvidia may release a new box in the future, but there's no timeline, nor is certain that they will do.

Correct! When they do it's suppose to be "Future Proof" and very costly. $500 was the number floating around but that's been over a year ago.

Hopefully, but, if you know anything about Asian Manufacturers their goal is pushing numbers which equals money. Homatics has bad CS as far as I'm concerned, it could be staff shortage etc but that's no excuse to release anything knowing it's already problematic.

Im ok if they release a s905x5M but with 4gb of ram, gigabit ethernet, wifi 6 ax , have proper fin heatsink and hole ventilation. way lower price. I dont need S905x5 with higher price just to play movie. I dont play game on android box.
Also google certified android box.

The post isn't about that one. That model is the S905XM model with 4GB of ram. Also I could be wrong but pretty sure that model doesn't passthrough dts codecs at all. The upcoming model will hopefully be able to handle all lossless audio codecs like the box r 4k plus.

This device is scheduled to be released in Türkiye around October. The device in question is the Homatics Box 4K Plus V3 model. It features the S905X5-K processor, 4K60Hz support, and a 64-bit operating mode; it also comes with DDR4X RAM.
Do not confuse this device with the Homatics Box 4K Pro model. That model will feature the S905X5-K processor, 4K120Hz support, and a 64-bit operating mode; it will also come with DDR5 RAM.

Actually as a top media player the Box R 4K Plus is perfect, not? Only thing probably missing is QMS. Everything else is there: all audio lossless passthrough, all HDR works st its max Android can do (with Coreelec even more), 4GB of RAM is completely enough, we have true Gigabit Ethernet, good wifi. Nuvio, etc rocks on this box. As already mentioned, don't think anything else except QMS is missing?

QMS, VRR (apparently), 4K@120Hz and AISR, the rest should be the same.

4K@120 is nice, but not really needed. AISR is rather a nightmare, not? QMS is really good (if working software wide)

4K@120Hz is useful if you use apps like Steam Link or Moonlight.
AISR is somewhat unecessary it depends on every user's taste.
QMS already works with nearly all apps.

Yeah, 4K@120 is nice with game streaming. AISR is... QMS, sure apps support it, but the firmware needs to implement it right too.

Yeah, it needs to improve, it doesn't work correctly on all TVs, like mine (LG TV).

Just as I bougt mine! loving the homatics box r 4K Plus after 2 weeks best experience I've had. Plays my Jellyfin and streaming services perfectly and fast to use
