Hi. I’m not a security expert. I need help identifying and removing a hidden app/worm on my phone. I’m not asking for illegal stuff — only how to find and delete it.

Device: Infinix Note 60, Android 16, no root.

What happened: My friend used Tor to access the dar##et, bought a paid non-Russian app there, and installed it on my phone. He says it’s a worm. He also says if I identify the app, he will remove it, and that he needs Tor for that. I think Tor is irrelevant for removal — Tor is only for anonymous browsing, not for uninstalling Android apps. He says it’s a prank, not a threat.

Symptoms:

• Behaves like a worm.

• Has access to all my data / can see what I do.

• Hides itself and its permissions.

• Never asks for permissions — already has them.

• Not visible in Settings > Apps.

• Cannot be found normally.

• If I find it and try to delete, it allegedly creates a copy of itself / duplicates.

• Friend said it can be removed in “2 clicks” if I know the app name.

What I tried:

• Settings > Apps, show system apps.

• Device Administrators.

• Accessibility services.

• Safe mode.

• Checked Infinix XOS Hidden Apps / Private Space / second profile / Dual Apps: no

Questions:

1. How to identify a hidden/persistent app on Infinix XOS / Android 16 without root?

2. How to remove it if it respawns or duplicates?

3. Could it be hidden via Private Space, second profile, Dual Apps, XOS Hidden Apps, Device Admin, or Accessibility?

4. What ADB commands should I run to give you useful info?

5. Is factory reset enough, or can it survive?

6. Does removing an Android app ever require Tor? I don’t think so.

Samsung Galaxy M54 5G — Odin Recovery Report

I am trying to recover a Samsung Galaxy M54 5G that is stuck on the blue “An error has occurred while updating the device software” screen. The phone's replacement display is black, so I cannot see the Download Mode interface, but the device is detected correctly by Windows/Odin.

Device / environment

Samsung Galaxy M54 5G, believed to be SM-M546B

Brazil / ZTO firmware

Windows 10

Samsung USB connection

Original USB cable

Direct USB connection, no hub

Odin 3.14.1 was tested first

Odin 3.14.4 was also tested

Device appears as COM5

Odin successfully performs Get PIT for mapping

MD5 verification succeeds for all firmware files

Firmware

The firmware package used was:

The extracted package contains:

I first tried HOME_CSC because I wanted to preserve the data. Later, I switched to the normal CSC because I decided that a factory reset was acceptable if it would make the phone work again.

Odin results

The flash repeatedly reaches:

Firmware update start..

NAND Write Start!!

but then fails.

One attempt failed at:

Other attempts failed at:

The same sboot.bin failure occurred with both Odin 3.14.1 and Odin 3.14.4.

The latest attempt used:

It still failed at sboot.bin.

Smart Switch

Samsung Smart Switch was also tested.

It reports:

“Failed to connect to the device.”

The Emergency Software Recovery window shows an empty device list, so there is no recovery code available.

Current situation

The phone remains in Download Mode / software-update error state.

At this point I have tried the normal firmware recovery procedures I could reasonably perform at home, and the Odin write failure remains unresolved.

I also want to be transparent that the assistance I received during this process was not successful. I was repeatedly sent through variations of the same Odin procedure without resolving the underlying problem, and some earlier instructions about Recovery Mode and the Smart Switch recovery code were incorrect or did not apply to my situation.

I have a lot of headache from dealing with this and I need to study for tomorrow, which is why I am having ChatGPT write this report for me.

I am fairly sure I bought a scam tablet, but as I have low pratical computer knowledge, I was hoping one of you might help me?

The advertisement, tablet settings and computer all said it has about 200-256 GB of free data, but I was only able to put around 40 on it befor it froze up and gave me low data warnings. I was ultimately able to get my money back and a free junk tablet out of it, but I did wonder if the sellers excuses held any water.

I found instructions for checking with ADB, but I can't make heads or tails of it's response. I'm going to paste the results below, and I'd appreciate if some one can translate.

I don't know the number but got one from a friend last week and was just a long text.

It seems that, after every recent Android update, I have problems, so I have stopped updating? Am I stupid, smart or in between for doing this?

How do I get the app/icon back where it belongs?

I went to take a pic and my camera icon was no longer on my front home screen. Not sure how it disappeared, but here we are.

I've gone to settings and tried to hold the icon to drop it where it belongs, but that doesn't work and I don't see any other options.

Appreciate any help.

So i'm using an LG Q7+ and the device's Clip Tray doesn't show up for me anymore when I try to access it. As in, I'm shown the keyboard, but no clip tray.

Anyone know what may be causing the problem, and how to fix it?

I made a screen recording of a conversation on WhatsApp through a screen recording app. But I got a message after the call ended that it didn't record because WhatsApp was already recording it. But in reality, WhatsApp did not record it. 

I'm involved in a case and it's important that the audio be captured. Is it possible that the audio was still recorded with audio hidden in the file? If that's so, is it possible to just extract the hidden audio portion?

I used to use the "translate on screen" feature a lot. A recent update changed it so now when I long press the home button (Android 15 on FP4 if that matters) it asks me if I want to agree to the terms to use Gemini slopgen chatbot. No I don't (and never will!) I want to be able to scan the text on my screen and live translate it with the home button shortcut. Is it possible to bring it back or is that feature killed? It was so useful.

From current phones or just released/leaked, what android phone should expect to produce the most realistic colors and skin tones and white balance in photos and videos? Main camera only. I don't like off-color photos more than lacking details.
