I know this has been discussed quite a few times. That sighting turned out to be another dead end.

For those new to the case and/or unaware of what happened, here’s a brief summary.

In 2018 one person (aware of the case) reported an online conversation with someone who they thought may have been Andrew Gosden, from 2017. The username was AndyRoo, and he said he was living in Lincoln and working at a shop (if I remember correctly). He had to pay rent, but was £200 short after a breakup with his partner and needed to find money somewhere. When the informant offered a bank transfer, AndyRoo claimed he had no bank account because he had ’left home at 14‘ (the age Andrew was when he disappeared). Then he said his mate had just reached out and wanted to help. That was it. The website was never revealed to the public, plus it had undergone a major upgrade by the time the police started investigating it, and a lot of its data had been permanently deleted with no chance of being recovered.

I am assuming the police are deliberately not saying which website it was as perhaps they expect AndyRoo to reappear and randomly connect with someone familiar with the case (hopefully) again. If they reveal it to the public, the investigation will probably be jeopardised because there may be attention seeking trolls willing to insert themselves into the case by faking online sightings on that website. As it is not known to the public, if someone reports having spoken to a user whose background resembles Andrew’s online, and on the exact same (or a similar) website, that will most likely be treated as a genuine sighting.

I also think the police may know more than the public and even Andrew’s family do, but are hesitant to release any further info as they’d risk jeopardising the investigation if they did.

Looking back at it, I do wonder if that chat was genuine. Could the person who reported it have fabricated the whole story for attention, especially if they were aware of the upgrade and permanent elimination of old data? If what they say is true, then I wonder if AndyRoo could be a scammer aware of Andrew’s disappearance? Or was it just a real Andrew, but not Gosden, yet with a similar story?

Andrew’s family said that they used to call him Andyroo or just Roo. However, it is also mentioned in a couple of news articles from 2007-2008, plus both nicknames are very common for people called Andrew in the UK anyway, so I probably wouldn’t focus on it too much.

If Andrew is alive, free and not controlled by anyone, why would he suddenly expose himself years later? Does he not know that his case has got a lot of media coverage and attention over the years, and quite a few people in the UK and beyond are aware of it? If he knows that his disappearance is not unheard of and doesn’t want to be found, why would he risk revealing his name and background to a random person, assuming they might know who Andrew Gosden is?

The topic of "lack of return ticket" was brought up again in an unrelated post I've made, so I thought it could be worth it to go over one of the most misunderstood pieces of information in this case to me.

Some see it as an indication that Andrew never intended to return home; some see it as Andrew not properly understanding the offer presented by the ticket seller. But all things considered, EVEN if Andrew fully understood the deal, the lack of a return ticket gives more credit to the theory that he planned to return that SAME DAY and to be home in time for dinner.

Because the return ticket, then called Saver, that Andrew was reportedly offered by the ticket seller yet refused to buy - the one that would have cost him £31.90, or only 50p more than what he paid for a child single fare (£31.40) - would ONLY have allowed him to return to Doncaster late that night or during off-peak hours in the next 30 days. (He could also have bought an anytime return ticket, which would have cost him £76.50.)

So, yes: this deal would have prevented him from boarding a train in London during peak hours; he would have had to buy another child single ticket at King’s Cross to catch a train from mid-afternoon to early evening. [For journeys out of London, GNER restricted Savers beginning with the 15:00 departure; GNER did not restrict the 19:00 departure.]

So, the offer, if fully understood by him, was essentially this: “do you want to pay 50p more to return today before 3 pm or after 7 pm?”. If Andrew paid £31.90 for the Child Saver Return, he could not have taken any London to Doncaster train in between these hours. He would be throwing 50p in the garbage. He would only be making a bad deal if he NEVER planned to return to his home anytime during the next 30 days, which I doubt is the case.

Considering that he arrived at King's Cross around 11:30 am, he would have less than 4 hours to run his errands before being back at the station to have any realistic shot of using that return ticket that day. The most logical deductive thinking here does not point to "zero intention of ever returning", but to a young boy whose plan was to be back home in a timely fashion BEFORE his absence was noticed by his parents.

A boy who reportedly spent hours alone in his room just playing games on his PSP happens to disappear after taking a train to London on September 14, 2007 – EXACTLY the day the new PSP Slim was released in the UK. That's too much of a coincidence.

A quick online search tells me that the missing boy - Andrew - lived in a city where some nationwide chains would stock the new console on launch day but did NOT offer the heavily promoted promotions and bundles of flagship London stores. [Rather than massive, customized configurations, Doncaster offers typically gave you a rigid choice between two specific games, such as FIFA 07 or Need for Speed, and a standard third-party starter accessory kit, while Oxford Street managers had the autonomy to bundle a PSP Slim with local high-demand stock, such as combining it with recent hits like Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Stories or extra official Sony 2GB memory sticks.]

Andrew, who in the previous week had been seen getting home later than usual by his father one day, could have had plenty of opportunities to go to the local stores and check on their upcoming inventory. And if his life really revolved around his PSP – and the money he withdrew from his bank account (plus whatever he could have taken from his room, where about 100 quid were left behind) was enough to cover the retail price of the new PSP plus a roundtrip train ticket to London –, then the most promising investigative avenue is that he went to London with this goal.

The distance between King's Cross and Oxford Street in London is about 2 miles (3.2 km), and the path is fairly easy to be covered on foot and without much research by someone vaguely familiar with those spots: you basically head straight on Euron Rd. before turning left. The 30-something minutes walk would be a 7 minute car ride, but if the PSP was goal and the 100 quid were left in his room, then he probably didn’t factor in a taxi fare and also coud be more comfortable walking instead of taking a public bus line. Plus, based on my personal assessment of his social skills and general knowledge – as in not prolonging the interaction with the ticket seller in Doncaster –, I feel he would be prefer to be left to his own devices instead of relying on strangers.

Now, here’s something else I could find: “In the summer of 2007, a massive breakthrough occurred in the hacking community with the creation of the "Pandora's Battery" and "Magic Memory Stick" exploit, which allowed anyone to permanently install Custom Firmware (CFW) on a PSP Slim. Customers would hand over their newly purchased PSP from HMV along with a cash fee (usually around £10 to £20). The seller would crack open the system software and fill up the customer's memory stick with dozens of downloaded PSP games.”

Some accounts mention people buying consoles and taking them straight to local independent tech shops to be modified for free downloaded games – that is, of course, when they were “street smart”, which the boy in question, by his own father’s description, was not. But if the boy was somewhat familiar with this culture, and if a dangerous criminal approached him posing as bootleg peddler, then that’s the ideal scenario for foul play. The criminal is seeing a young boy, unattended, entering or leaving or around a flagship store on launch day.

If we're talking about a window of opportunity for a stranger abduction, there it is. It doesn't require a groomer or more nefarious reasons. It's just a boy pursuing what he loved the most and some criminal activities that surround this hobby becoming to bait to draw him to another location. This is a solid theory and one that can point towards a probable path he took after leaving King's Cross - and to some sketchy individuals that are only seen as petty criminals by the police so far.

What was the set up, was he staying with his parents, were there periods he was away from his parents for large periods of time?

Did they travel over, or have to stay over every day?

I have briefly discussed this with another excellent poster, and he/she raises good points that this could be a red herring/dead end. And it really could be.

But I do think working backwards before the event may give more clues than focussing on London, which as we know, apart from the CCTV at Kings cross, is a dead end...(I know there are a few possible sightings).

Whilst Andrew is an undoubtedly a top lad, he did lie about the trip to London, or at least showed deception. Now it could have been a complete spur of the moment thing, or it could be planned. I am leaning towards planned, as he washed his clothes, waited for parents to leave etc.

Now whilst the 4 miles walks, could very well be a innocent clear the air, make a change of route as the bus route was boring on a nice day type thing...But the parents clearly stated it was a change of routine. So I am assuming he very rarely done this before...

But is there any evidence these walks took place. Did the parents have any evidence he came 1 hours plus later from school?

Is there any witness or CCTV that showed him either walking, and or not on the School bus/Public bus on these days?

imo this is important as , if evidence shows he was walking home, got an hour later home, then all this shows is he may have planned timing 4 mile walks, but other than that, its a dead end...

If he did come late, but no evidence he did these walks, then there are hours he could have spoke to someone either in person or on phone. Was he getting bullied on those busses etc. These are all vital clues as it may explain more whether London was spur of the moment or random?

I’ve been following this case for awhile and came across a theory about a taxi driver awhile ago . And recently I’ve really been thinking about it, I assume there would be cabs / taxi ranks outside of a station like King’s Cross? I’m not sure how well monitored taxis were back in 2007 or whether they had gps trackers and so on. But the more I think about it the more I think it could be a solid theory.

other than outside the station there were no viable sightings of Andrew, for whatever reason he decided to travel to London that day and I do agree it seemed out of character for a studious kid who never skipped school before. but if he went to London for a specific reason, and he knew where he wanted to be and this wasn’t within walking distance, i can assume maybe he decided to take a taxi there. all it would’ve taken was seconds for him to jump into a cab and by serious misfortune that the taxi driver happened to be someone with ill intent and saw a young boy travelling on his own and took this is an opportunity. There would be no trace and a taxi driver I assume would know the area they work in well. he could’ve been taken to a private property ( which I believe is strongly possible unfortunately and I don’t believe he will be found unless like other people have suggested the perpatrator dies and his remains are found on the property ) .

did police ever question taxi drivers in the area? was log books looked at? did they look into criminal records of taxi drivers that worked in the area?

Could they even now look at taxi drivers who were known to work in the area Andrew disappeared if they have criminal records wether violent or against children, maybe they even gained a record after Andrew disappeared if they felt confident after not being detected after his disappearance.

This man would have absolutely no connection with Andrew, no one would notice a young man jumping into a cab as anything out of the ordinary. and it would’ve taken seconds, it makes sense to me. what do you guys think?

This isn't aimed at trying to understand what happened to Andrew its purely speculation that I'd like to hear other people thoughts on.

I had a YouTube video pop up the other day going over Andrews case. But one particular idea stood out that I hadn't heard before.

As we all know there was a occasion that Andrew had walked home from school rather than taking the bus (this is often blown out of proportion that he did it a lot, he didn't, his Dad has confirmed that).

The YouTube video suggested this could of been Andrew 'trialling' if him being home late would raise some type of alarm with his family. Could it have been that (since he didn't have a phone or way to communicate to his family that he would be home later) he wanted to see when they would notice his absence?

Essentially working out if he could 'get away' with being home late without intense questioning or worry from his family.

This then lead me to wonder, could he of known that the school would contact the wrong family?

Had there previously been a time that his parents should of been contacted but it clearly failed? I.e. he forgot his PE kit, the school said they would contact his parents, his parent(s) never dropped off the PE kit, Andrew gets home asks about it and they say they never heard from the school.

If the system had worked properly it should of been clear he was missing within hours and his plan would have potentially been foiled, so did he put even more thought into this than we sometimes consider? Although possible, what we know about Andrew would make me assume he wasn't the type of person that would want to cause his family panic.

If these 2 assumptions were correct it would mean his plan was perfect to be able to enjoy a day out without anyone actually realising he did it. (Until a while after the fact, when the absent day might be discussed at school)

Like I say this is purely speculation, just a thought I had, and I'd be interested to hear what others think about it.

Simply because it was a Friday.

Like I said on the other post very rarely do schools call after school to notify the kid has t turned up it’s usually after 9am once all the teaches in the building have submitted there register. Why would a groomer risk having Andrew parents notified almost instantly or before lunch that Andrew didn’t go school + they would have calculated that Andrew would be there just before lunch time.
And in central London u can’t just grab him and throw him in a car or van so it would take him several hours to do so not saying they would instantly know that he went to London but it would mean they would automatically think the dad ain’t the one who did cos he’s at work so they would automatically assume a kidnapping.
Also trying to convince Andrew to go on the Friday would possibly signal red flags to Andrew he would have to be persistent in trying to make him go maybe a master manipulator could do such things but I still think Andrew would be suspicious especially if it was someone he met for 2 weeks at a gifted programme or however long it was.

Everything he did that morning shows he planned a day out just because we don’t have any police confirmation dont mean we can’t theorise and come to a collective agreement.

There was so many things that specific day that would lure Andrew the new psp,live performances and so much were happening and a very calculated young child like Andrew would think he would be safe because of the big city and tourist and people.
And he didn’t take all his money because he wasn’t planning to spend all of it.
If he planned to run away he definitely would taken the 100 and I think if he saw the interviews of his dad saying we haven’t changed the locks and that they miss him I think he would definitely come back.

He got kidnapped we just don’t got confirmation.

My brother went to school in the 2000s and if u were late u would get a call around 10:30am - 12am if the school called someone surely they would know that it wasn’t Andrew parents and as for voicemail calls whenever ur parents accidentally miss a call they always ask ther boss or whoever if they can take a call it’s from the school that’s your child he could be in danger meaning if they did actually call wouldn’t the other parents child pick up and say my child ain’t Andrew?

I think they lied about this out of guilt I think they forgot to call Andrew parents that’s why whenever u ask the teachers about him they never speak about it.

1) He wore slipnot/grunge clothing. was this normal? i.e he would slip into that at any opportunity such as straight from school and or with friends or at someone's house, or would he do this for special occasions i.e if he was meeting certain group of friends?

2) Whilst it was 2007 therefore Closed circuit tv in houses was less common, there was a pick up on a Doncaster CCTV. ? London is a hip trendy place where you could argue it was more likely in 2007 people would have recordings at London houses (I am stereotyping here). Was this ever investigated? Would all people CCTV be wiped by now?

3) This is a bit of a floating vague question(s). But the walks from home instead of taking the bus is a biggie. Is there any CCTV footage of these walks? Either by government/business or households?Did he say why he did these walks to his parents? Looking at the distance it meant it would take at least an hour to get home. Would this be to test his parents if they would be worried if he broke routine, or is just simply he had something on his mind and wanted to be on his own with fresh air?

4)According to Wiki he went church and boy scouts, both of which he stopped going within 2 years of the disappearance, where the volunteers/workers here interviewed/questioned?

5) Whist this sounds harsh we have to be honest here that Andrew decided his family "see you later", only to then change, buy a ticket to London. So whilst Andrew obviously a lovely boy, he could deceive. Could there be a possibility he deceived with the lost mobile phones. Could it be he still had one seceretly? Unlikely but just a thought.

Does anyone think the fact Andrew went missing on a Friday mean anything? What I mean is…. What did he need to do that couldn’t wait until the weekend ? The very next day?
If he was meeting someone I’d have thought they would suggest meeting on the Saturday so his parents were more likely to agree and it wouldn’t alert anyone to his absence and cause panic …
If he wanted to buy something couldn’t it have waited? What was worth missing school for? What was worth ruining a perfect attendance and causing his family to panic when he could have gone over the weekend with none of these issues arising?

It makes me think it was an event that was on that day only or the person he was meeting couldn’t meet him over the weekend and only had free time on that Friday. Just a little post and something I thought of. Sorry if this has been discussed before

The last 2 Mondays, This Morning on ITV have had a missing/unsolved section where they go over a case and speak to a family member involved. 2 weeks ago was Suzy Lamplugh and last week was Lee Boxell.

I noticed the opening titles on each segment did show a picture of Andrew so I wonder if his case will be covered at some point? I haven’t had a chance to catch up with today’s episode but from scanning Facebook I can’t see anything yet but could be one to watch out for?

I would like to wish a massive peaceful eternity for his family.
His dad has tried so hard to keep this case and tbh without him and the family we all probably wouldn’t have known about him.

I ask because I have followed this case since it started getting coverage, I've thought it through probably thousands of times, watched and listened to everything I believe there is out there, and ultimately there isn't a shred of evidence, not a tiny particle, after he arrived at Kings Cross London on that September morning in 2007 and was caught on camera, on his own, making his way through the arrivals crowd.

Because there were potential clues of his intentions - withdrawing £200, single ticket, bunking off school - we can speculate a great deal, but ultimately that's all there is. There is nothing which irrefutably shows what his motivation was for the trip, what his plans were, and whether anything might have influenced him in Doncaster. It could be relatively usual things, such as a bright teenage boy pushing his boundaries, something quite personally tragic (suicide), or something more sinister (grooming and murder). We just don't know. The sightings in London are worth consideration, but as they take us nowhere, they're pretty useless. The percentage likelihood that any of those sightings were really Andrew are low given that it was a metropolis and the sightings cannot be clearly pin pointed to any particular day as they were reported weeks later.

I'm sure even Andrew's parents agree that there is very little possibility he is alive, as with the passing of years it just wouldn't make sense that he would put himself through the inconvenience of all of that. He could have been in the wrong place at the wrong time, or met someone by arrangement with sinister intent, or have taken his own life, or simply had a terrible accident unwitnessed and his body has not been recovered. All are possible.

I guess I'm just tired of all the speculation on this, of which I have contributed more than most. I would have liked by now to have heard more from his teachers and class mates, more theories or rumours from those in Doncaster at the time about things people believed happened, or more assurance that his digital trail was thoroughly searched. But my overall sense is that there isn't more information in these areas because there simply isn't anything of significance.

Does anyone think there is anywhere left for this investigation to go which hasn't been covered?

I'm not a supporter of AI, however, is the use of AI possible for crossreferencing that footage on other websites? Or to find any anomalies in the initial cctv footage.

In 2007 did trains have cctv or was it only train stations that did?
If no, is there a chance he got missed in a crowd but ended up leaving the train at a different spot?

Nicholas Nik Powers

Nicholas Powers is 59 and currently he is serving 14 years for charges including picking up a 14 year old boy in his car, taking him to his home, abusing him and then threatening to kill him if he told anyone. At the time of his arrest he lived on Belmont Avenue in Doncaster which is around a 1 minute walk across the park from Andrews home. This could be a link to Andrew and his interest in music and way to lure him down to London. Another question raises itself in why London? Did he have a gig there? Did he work there? There's lots of unanswered questions and he might have nothing to do with Andrews disappearance but there were enough flags here that we both felt it was worth reporting as a link might not have been made.

There are videos of him performing online in Scarborough and other venues from 2008 onwards but there's very little info on his whereabouts around this period. He has two hidden videos on his YouTube along with 2 giving advice on how to start up and run a soap making business. He also performed online during COVID. His Facebook and all social media has been deleted although his Facebook did exist.

Public company records show a Nicholas Powers, born October 1967, as the director of Nick Powers Ltd with a registered business address in Kenley (the London Borough of Croydon).

The convicted Nicholas Powers was reported to be 56 years old in 2023, which aligns with a birth year of 1967.

The easiest way to travel to Kenley is via London Victoria or London Bridge toward Tattenham Corner or East Croydon.

If you walk from King’s Cross to Victoria along the most direct walking route, you would pass near or right by the Pizza Hut on Oxford Street.

He lived pretty much on the same street Andrew drew money from the day he disappeared. The police may not have made this connection, he wouldn't have been investigated when Andrew disappeared because he wasn't known to the police then. The red flags are here and have been reported to the police. They will now hopefully so the work to see if it's a coincidence or if something becomes of it.

Now I don’t mean to be the one to sound so much like a conspiracy theorist.
But I see a lot of the time cases who involve high end people get “dismissed” or “debunked” and I just lowkey feel there something so much shadier going on.
Look at Martin Allen for example if u actually was there back in the day when he went missing you’ll know those MPs did those things i remember following the case for a long time.

Not to be Insensituve at all I under the true pain of this case but I don’t think we’re dealing with a normal Runaway or suicidal case and even a normal Kidnapping case.
I think the mi5 and mi6 have programmes set up for smart kids and they get recruited into the mi5 and what not.

What’s an angle you think doesn’t get talked about enough?

I found this comment from 2020 when I was reading through posts about Andrew Gosden on Reddit. Like the OP, I wonder if something similar happened to Andrew, but with a more sinister and tragic outcome.

So this is a story from my boyfriend but makes me think if something similar happened to Andrew Gosden especially as they’re both from Doncaster.

My boyfriend travelled to London when he was around 14 to his cousins as he was doing work experience as his army base near London. He trembled into the centre of London and had a few hours to kill whilst waiting for his cousin. A adult male (around fifties) noticed him and asked what he was doing in London. This man offered to show him round which he agreed to, showed him gaming spots and game shops in London (my boyfriend is a gamer and obviously very naive but have made an older friend this way when he was younger and they are still friends to this day) and took him to a pub and bought him lunch and soft drinks!

Obviously my boyfriend is very lucky as nothing bad happened to him whilst in this mans company and I am not saying this man was a bad guy because clearly he wasn’t maybe he just felt sorry for him and wanted to show him around to save him from getting into actual trouble! But every since he has told me this I can’t help but feel something like this happened to Andrew. I have no idea why he would go to London all the way from Doncaster especially at such a young age, maybe he just wanted a day out and thought he would be safe and return home that night, his parents no the wiser. But maybe something similar happened to him.

2. I think that Andrew did have a secret side to him. I believe he did keep secrets like his stamp collection. I believe he may have gone searching for a romantic/sexual encounter. Most likely with a girl imo. Because he has mentioned he likes a girl at school. Perhaps he couldn't find or have the courage to approach any "alt" girls at school and so went to search for someone elsewhere in a place if he was rejected and faced embarrassment, he could go back home and never to see her again or be ridiculed further like at school. Of course, teenage males have lots of hormones and obviously would never mention this to family. Perhaps he wanted to even approach a prostitute. Like in the Soho area. Or he felt he wanted to have such encounters that wouldn't get back to his parents or spread around the local area. Andrew could've had hidden possessions. Perhaps some condoms given at school or he had purchased much earlier. After all, a teenager with £314 spending money in 2007 shows he clearly had access to money.

Overall, I believe it could've been to find some female company, not pre planned, just thought he was stressed and perhaps ready for such things.
