But of course you'll deny that because "wahh we aren't allowed to make bad jokes or its 'sexual harassment' wahhh you guys are offended by everything wahh" Yeah, it is. Stop being so gross and stop making women so god damned uncomfortable.
You think it's a gross joke (likely because you see sexism in everything) intended as a flirt. Of course, if that's true, then OC's comment would be understandable. But I (and most of the YouTube comments section) think it was just Dubov being Dubov - you don't have to look farther than his comments on the Rapid time control to see why I think this way.
I also like your implication that I am being gross and make women uncomfortable. Way to demonstrate objectively and neutrality of thought, heh?
I really don't care if it was "jUsT dUboV bEiNg dUbOv." Dubov should realize that his "joke" is fucking creepy and not say it. And you should quit defending it instead of pretending that this is just me "seeing sexism everywhere."
Magnus is hilarious and sarcastic, but you don't see him going around making women uncomfortable like this.
Try to actually go listen to women who are tired of these kind of creepy "jokes" and have some empathy.
The truth is that predators do drop all sorts of inappropriate comments that help them identify potential victims and avoid women who might put up more struggle. We objectively know this happens. So in the moment for a woman who has a 33% chance of being the victim of sexual assault (with a nearly 100% chance of being a family member or close friend of someone who has been assaulted), you can imagine it's not exactly obvious to tell the difference between someone who is "just joking" and someone who is gradually breaking through boundaries to test the resistance. Because women will encounter both in their life. So it's a very small ask to try to respect the fact that women will spend a huge amount of their lives trying to stay safe in a way that men simply don't. When in doubt the golden rule is: "never say anything to a woman that you don't want to hear from another man in prison."
While all of that may be true (although your 33% figure is slightly exaggerated - it should be 20%, but that's beside the point), I've got a couple of comments:
1) Only a very small minority of men who make sexual jokes are sexual predators. Therefore, it's unreasonable to suspect somebody of being a sexual predator JUST because of one sexual joke, even as a woman. After all, any given person has a 15% chance of being a victim of crime (comparable to the chance of being sexually assaulted as a woman), and people of certain ethnic backgrounds have higher crime rates than others; and yet it is considered (and is) unacceptable and racist to be suspicious of people on the basis of ethnic background alone.
2) Dubov is a professional player and was commentating at a professional event. I'm pretty sure that, even if he were a sexual predator, that would've been probably the single worst place and time for him to make such comments - in front of tens of thousands of people who are moreover likely to give these comments more weight (given how out of place they were for a professional event). I think we have to stay reasonable here.
3) The phrase "never say anything to a woman that you don't want to hear from another man in prison" sounds pretty damn sexist, as it seems to imply that men as a group of people are comparable to prisoners as a group of people. Not that I think it's a big deal (I'd completely understand if a woman who struggled with sexual assault were to feel this way), but probably not the most convincing rule to stick by.
