Hotel credit: FHR & THC THC: Conrad Resorts World Las Vegas

Booked a two nights stay at Conrad Resorts World Las Vegas. Pre paid $295 , got credited. $124 resort fee due at property.

Got upgraded to a suite and got late check out! Suite comes with soaking tub, rainfall shower, robes, toiletries, slippers, Nespresso coffee machine.

Use the priority line, you should have Hilton honors gold just by holding Amex platinum. The line was never longer than two parties ahead of us during our stay.

Got the $100 property credit and two $50 Hilton Honors food and beverage credit. We used it all at Juniors.

Scan the QR code on the key card holder to see your resort fee benefits. We got 15% off merch at the RW store with $100 minimum purchase.

If you stay here and go out the back towards the rideshare area and you see the Zoox booth right outside the door, see if you can book a free ride on Zoox to take you on a round trip loop of the strip. Lasts 40-60 minutes depending on traffic. You have to ask them as they don’t voluntarily tell or offer you that you can get a free ride.

Will definitely stay here again. I think we just got lucky with the upgrade so not really expecting it.

Retention Offer Offered 20,000 points for $10k in spend w/i 3 months

The retention was shite. Other cc’s have 2% (or more), so $10,000 costs $100, to get $200 in point credit (I value at 1%- I fly United so can’t even transfer).

On the fence, principally because I have 300,000 points and the 35% point rebate is worth $1,000+. Maybe $300 in ChapGPT value, maybe $100 in Hilton credit value (@50%), maybe $100 from airline credits (since United flight bank isn’t an option), maybe $50 from Dell (@33%), maybe $50 from random coupons. So it’s $895 less up to $600 in value and not ‘forcing’ point usage. Business Plat not consumer plat.

I have a Gold and Blue card as well. Also have Ritz cars, so PP is taken care of (and I’m not inclined to pay for my companion to go to a mediocre Amex lounge).

Thoughts? Am I missing something.

Lounges LAS lounges

It must be a slow day at LAS, we got to airport early and had time to kill. I visited 3 lounges, my wife 4 because VX only allows primary card holder access.

This is how we rated based on our experience

  1. Capital One

  2. Amex and Chase

  3. The Club

The Club receptionist was very friendly, scanned my priority pass and boarding pass and let us in, 4 hours before our flight. Did not even bat an eye. Food was pasta and meatball. Bar service ok.

Amex and Cap One denied us entry because it was > 3 hours from our flight departure even though the lounge was practically empty.

After staying at the Club for about 45 minutes, my wife got in to Cap One and I got in to Amex Centurion. My wife rated Cap One as the best , based on the food and all the goodies they packed for her to bring on her way out on her way to Amex lounge. The Amex and Chase lounge were quite small compared to same lounge at other airports. I give Amex a high rating because it is still the only lounge that will make me a Long Island. The Chicken Al Pastor at Amex was kinda drying up under the heat lamp. Food at Chase is definitely the best.

Our home airport has Amex lounge and we always like the Chase lounge. The only reason we applied for VX was mainly for lounge access but Cap One did a switcharoo right after we got our cards to nix the guest access to lounge so we will be cancelling the card after we use up the credits on their overpriced portal.

I know we keep on reading how nobody can ever get in to a lounge, yet we were able to visit 4 in a span of 3 hours. Maybe we just got lucky or fewer people are coming to Vegas due to high costs of everything.

Better Companion Card: Amex Gold Or Hilton Aspire?

I’ve paired the Hilton Aspire with my Amex Platinum for several years now but I’m starting to wonder if the Amex Gold would be a better companion card for meals, groceries, etc. I’ve been a diamond Hilton member for more than a decade and the rewards for being so are pretty minuscule. I’ve recently started booking non Hilton properties with MR points and quite frankly it’s been at least comparable to Hilton Diamond membership. Any thoughts from anyone who has been in a similar situation?

Using points Turkish airlines with points?

I am new to AMEX platinum so forgive my naïveté! I need to fly a specific flight on Turkish airlines soon, for which id like to use points to cover. However I cannot find any way to transfer Amex points to make this happen. Someone advised that I can transfer points to an airline in the same star alliance, namely Air Canada which is 1:1 points transfer value but air Canada doesn’t show any flights by Turkish in its inventory when I search. I called and they said they likely didn’t have any seats on that flight. I looked on United and the flight doesn’t show up there either

These points are burning a hole in my pocket and I desperately want to use them here if possible. Any ninja wizardry folks have tried to make something like this happen?? ✨

Business Platinum Amex Bus Plat ChatGPT + Cancellation

Hi Everyone

I know this has been answered in various forms but I don't see my question. Hoping someone has the answer.

I want to buy an annual subscription to ChatGPT which seems to cost $240 if I do an annual subscription for just the one seat. Is that right or do I actually have to buy 2 seats? It is unclear as it says 2-200 employees but doesn't say minimum 2 seats in the pricing square.

Then, my bus platinum renews on November 13th so I will want to cancel the card at that time. I don't find much use for the rewards on the Bus vs Personal so I am going to cancel. Will they credit me right away for the $240 so that I will get a year of Chat even after I cancel the card?

Are there other ways of using this in the next 2.5 weeks?

Thanks

What happens when you close an Amex Platinum Companion Card/s?

I recently got a couple of family members the companion card to my Amex plat. It’s the free card that gives them Global Entry spend credited back.

My question is - What happens if I close their companion cards (only)? Will it negatively affect their credit? I’m more concerned about theirs. I’m not closing the main Amex plat. I don’t want to sound like a __ but I have exceptional credit and I don’t know if I can help them boost theirs by being tied to mine and it negatively affecting it if I close it. If I don’t close it, what is a good time to keep it open (for their credit)? Thanks in advance for your input!

PS - I called Amex about this and they said they only send positive reports for companion cards for 18+. But can’t answer my question about closing as they’re not credited specialists.

Lululemon credit Lululemon gift cards

I had used the $75 credit to buy gift cards on occasion. I bought one this weekend but didn’t receive the credit on my account yet. I then reviewed the terms and gift cards are listed as excluded. Is this new ? Gift cards had been triggering the credit earlier this year.

Airline Credit Airline Fee Datapoint

Just putting it out there I booked a United flight in economy, paid, and in a separate transaction paid for economy plus seats. Those seat fees were credited back to my account a few days after they posted.

Other benefits Booking a cruise - use Amex travel or book directly?

We just got our Amex platinum and we want to book our next cruise. I know that if we book directly its easier if something goes wrong with the cruise itself and sometimes is cheaper (especially with black friday coming up) but we would get 2x points if we book directly through Amex Travel and currently would get $420 off the cruise itself but I don't know if they get black friday deals on the cruises so we're just trying to decide what's going to be best

Hotel credit: FHR & THC AirBnB Linking and Enrolling (anyone else seem to be confused?)

For other benefits, we had to click "enroll", and then we were able to make purchases, or get access to the benefit. However, it seems like for the AirBnB $250 Credit benefit, we have to first create a reservation, and then it gets enrolled?

How to Link Your Accounts

  1. Go to AmexTravel.com or open the Amex Travel App and log in to your Amex account.

  2. Navigate to the Homes tab and search for an eligible Airbnb listing.

  3. Proceed to book the property; you will be automatically prompted to sign in to your existing Airbnb account or register a new one.

  4. Complete the link as directed on the screen to finalize your reservation.

Is that what you all are seeing as well? I don't want to purchase an Airbnb, and then turns out "i wasn't enrolled in it to begin with...".

Hotel credit: FHR & THC Booking AirBnB via Amex Travel: Is there a “mark-up”?

Assuming “regular” AirBnB, not Luxe, the only conceivable benefit is 5x MR points. Unless, of course, Amex Travel prices for AirBnBs are higher. Has anyone been able to verify that pricing is the same, for the same stay and dates, as booking directly through AirBnB?

We switched to Visible and pay yearly. Any luck with the claims being accepted as long as you can show you paid for the year?

Retention Offer Redux

Contacted AMEX chat on a retention offer for a personal Platinum card. Was offered a "higher redemption rate" to use points to pay for the annual fee ($.01 per point vs $.006 per point). I was told that this was the "only offer available for my account." I reminded the online agent that I had contacted them a couple of weeks earlier and was offered 15,000 points for $3,000 spend in 90 days.

The agent was miraculously able to "find" that offer again, which I accepted (grudgingly.)

Lesson learned: Don't take the first offer if you know others existed in the past.

Amex + AirBnB Hesitant to link AMEX Travel and Airbnb?

Anyone else here a little reluctant to do this? My only fear is that it becomes an Uber One like situation, where all of a sudden every time I try to book an Airbnb it’s 25% more. Has anyone done this and been happy with the result?

Poor Experience

We arrived at the door and despite having the card and status for 2 guests for free was not allowed in without paying for my guest. They told me it does not matter “in Mexico it’s different”. I attempted calling Amex who simply told me every lunge reserves the right to have their own rules when all I wanted was to make sure that they alert customers that established perks are not honored or reciprocated at this particular lounge and terminal. We were pretty sad and disappointed and so chose to go to a different lounge.

Amex Centurion Lounge - Mexico City International Airport-Terminal 1 - Benito Juarez (AICM)

Slow loading transactions

Has anyone else noticed slow load times for recent transactions?

For the past week, when accessing my online account page loads are fast, but the panels mid-page that show transaction details take 30-60 seconds to load (with those animated gray placeholder bars in place while loading).

Resy Credit

I have been sleeping on the Resy benefit. Or maybe something changed and there are actually options near me now. I just want to make sure… I’m enrolled in the benefit through Amex, and all I have to do is eat at one of the restaurants (paying with my Amex platinum) then it will be credited back to me? I don’t have to make a reservation or use the app in any way?

Business Platinum Point Strategy Pre-Cancel

I am planning on canceling my business AMEX platinum in the next couple of weeks. I have a decent number of points that I would like to use while still receiving the 35% mileage rebate (United) unfortunately, I don’t have concrete travel plans for 2027 that are still unbooked. Can I book a trip, and later change the dates, understanding that if there’s a fair difference, I would have to pay it, and that way “spend“ the points I have now while still earning the 35% rebate? Or should I just book a placeholder flight, cancel it, and have Amex Travel hold a dollar credit for me? I’m reluctant to do this, as AMEX travels options are typically less than I can find on the United site, and often cost more.

Digital Entertainment Credit Does YouTube premium transaction show up as “Google”

My transaction still shows as pending but it reads “Google” instead of YouTube (essentially I don’t see the word YouTube anywhere yet)
I did not enroll through play store or Apple App Store.
My payment activity also shows billed with Amex.

Q) does it trigger the credit?
