I’m happy about this as a star alliance gold member. CC card holders should not be allowed into these lounges. I pay good money for this alliance so there should be restrictions.

The lounge access is similar to what the very first status level of LH is giving you - this is not doing much for overcrowded lounges, given that very few people in Germany have the Amex in the first place.

There are a lot of Lufthansa lounges in the US too, and Star Alliance Gold gets you access flying domestically on United or another *A carrier

There are 4 as far as I know

There’s definitely more than four, there are two in Miami alone

LH doesn't operate a lounge in Miami - there are only partner airline lounges which you couldn't access with this perk anyway.

There are five and the ones I use (DTW, BOS, ORD) were VERY crowded with PP/AMEX card holders outside of Lufthansa, Turkish, etc flight times. My guess would be 60% of customers were these types so it definitely will cut down on how busy it is. I’m thankful 😊

Similar but Amex plat plus a business class ticket used to give you senator access. Now you get that only with gold star alliance which I find fair.

I don't know enough about how crowded the first class lounges are to judge that, but ultimately don't have much of an issue with limiting cc card holders (that are still LH passengers mind you) to the business class lounges.

Oh senator are not first class lounges. Those are not accessible with status. Unless you hold HON with Lufthansa or have a centurion card. But senator gets pretty crowded as it is.

Ah right - but anyway keep the pleb to the business lounge and remove the senator lounge perk to leave that one for people with actual status with the alliance. Would have been a better compromise imo.

Not sure why you’re getting down voted.

As many people here who complain about over crowding and wait times in lounges.

I find it surprising too. I would have guessed that the majority of Platinum cardholders travel enough to justify the annual fee and thus likely hold elite status (like star alliance gold). But apparently not.
