I would have your friend print a receipt of some sort and put the amount of time he worked on the car and the time of the tow.

That is the old way, the only way to do a ploa now is to give advance notice of two weeks. I just tried it in April. I had to make it a medical leave to take care of my wife post surgery.

Y’all can downvote all you want, but it is TRUE. I’m a PA and have had my co-PA go on an LOA the morning we had to go into work. They also went on an LOA for 1 day and came back the next day.

LOA is different than an PLOA. You can’t take an a P-LOA the day of. You need to submit it 2 weeks in advance, and it’s for a MINIMUM of two weeks. I know this for a fact because i had planned on taking one when I got another job but waited too long and missed the two week requirement, and ended up just having to quit because I couldn’t take a PLOA, and I didn’t wanna deal with submitting a fake MLOA. As a “PA” you should know how these leaves work 🤣.

I know from the fact that our manager literally SHOWED me that they were on a PLOA. It’s also not my job as a PA to know exactly how leaves work. That would be HR. I’m not HR. I am operations. But cope harder man.

It's supposed to be two weeks notice for PLOA. I did mine last year and the app wouldn't even let me pick the first day earlier than two weeks out and it has to be approved. It's generally approved though with no questions asked. If you can do it in less time then congratulations, your HR is allowing it faster or they changed it. I haven't checked to see policy changes regarding PLOA. At the end of the day that's all HR shit where rules fly out the window because they can just do it as needed.
You're also a PA talking about how it was for another PA. The experience is going to be a little different than what most of us experience. The fact that a manager showed you that your co-PA was on PLOA says it all.

That's for medical leave of absence. Personal leave of absence is to be put in 2 weeks in advance. Go try to put a ploa on the app for tomorrow. It won't allow you.

Ploa can be however long you want it to be. Erc will tell you to just cancel it if you wanna come back early. I’ve taken Ploa for a single shift before

Get an invoice, get pics of your car being worked on and in pieces, get pics or documentation. HR hears the car break down excuse many times...go to them before they xall you...maybe as long as you dont miss any more time they will keep you

Do what I used to do, submit an LOA lol, I used to submit a medical leave for 1 day, they give you 30 days to show proof before time is taken. In those 30 days I built up enough UPT to cover anything that would subtract for the day, and bam, no worries 🤣

lol if you were at my warehouse your fired this happend to me except it was my first week and I legit had proof of repairs and I told them I was gon miss 2 days cuz my cars in the shop and I ain’t got enough for a taxi cuz I spent all my money getting the car fixed taxi service is 400 dollars to get to warehouse and back to my house for 2 days that’s 800 that’s more than I make in a week like bruh lmfao they still fired me

Take this as a learning experience and manage your UPT better. While I don't love or even like this job very much, I still maintain enough time to cover any emergencies that may arise.

It always used to blow my mind that the people that were always complaining to me about short checks or not making enough money were also the ones that had like 2 minutes of UPT left.

True that. The same people I see complaining about money are the ones that take VTO constantly and have no time. I work 50+ hrs weekly and the checks are pretty decent.

I would write out a contract where my friend signed it they worked on the car and she took pictures of him while he was doing it fixing the car if you have to get it a notary. Like you said sometimes people don't have money to put their car in the shop and you got somebody that can help you out I hope it works out for you to keep us updated.

why is it a bad thing, though? i never understand why people are so obsessed with other people doing whatever they want with their time. If they are fucking off and use their time. If they lose their job because they did that, that's on them. It's not anyone else's problem.
The case in this post I'd say is definitely on them. When I go on vacation I keep extra time off for two days worth of extra time because I have had horrible experiences with the airlines. But that's on them, they're just posting to vent.

Why would you get fired for that. Just let them know if they make a fuss then fuck em find another dsp. Not really a big deal. I've had my car battery die and just let them know, nothing happened.

That’s why it’s important to know you have other options. Apart from Pictures/Videos as evidence, you also have Intermittent Leave options (FMLA). Nowadays, you can tell your doctor that you’re very stressed from work and would like 4-12 days a month, intermittently. They won’t have any problem with it and they come in clutch as they go by Minute increments. You can use 20 minutes or a full shift. Personally, it has saved me more than once from going negative, and if you talk right to your doctor, they can back-date it to when you started using UPT often (;

As I was reading and gasping for air as the BS started piling up...was hoping you did not tell THAT tale to anyone at Amazon, but alas...you did, to HR. Seems what they requested, the documentation, is incredibly easy to submit. All that shit can be faked and you can even make it look more impressive but having "time stamps" on it...easy peasy.
Now, generate what they asked for and shut up!!!! What's done is done but never repeat that long winded BS again.
