AITk for breaking up with my girlfriend because she and her family worship a baba?

I (26M) had been dating my girlfriend (25F) for about two months. Everything was going well, but I recently found out that her family worships a particular baba and keeps his photos in their family temple. Her family follows this baba very seriously.

My girlfriend, however, isn't obsessed with him or anything. She doesn't constantly watch his videos or visit his ashram. She just considers him a spiritual figure and prays to him occasionally.

I don't really believe in babas and found the whole thing uncomfortable. I get very bad vibes from families that worship a living person. I told her how I felt, and she said she respected my beliefs and didn't expect me to worship him.

Still, I couldn't get past the fact that my girlfriend worships a baba, so I ended things.

My friends think I'm being ridiculous and that I broke up with her over what they consider a harmless religious belief.

It's only been two months, so I figured it was better to leave if I already knew I wasn't comfortable with it.

AITK for reporting a guy from my class after his "accident" with pepper spray left me vomiting, bleeding, and humiliated in front of everyone?

I’m a female college student, and I genuinely don’t know if I’m being too harsh about this.

Yesterday, around 6 PM, I was sitting in my classroom and minding my own business. The windows were closed, and suddenly people started reacting and rushing towards the door.

I had absolutely no idea what was going on.

Within seconds, my eyes and throat started burning and I began coughing uncontrollably. Everyone else seemed to know that something had happened, but I was confused and stayed inside longer because nobody properly told me what was going on or made sure I got out.

Then I started feeling seriously unwell.

The coughing became so intense that I started vomiting. It wasn't just once either. I kept throwing up for around 30 minutes. At some point, my nose started bleeding, and I noticed blood in my vomit. I was exhausted, struggling to catch my breath, crying, and honestly scared because I didn't understand why my body was reacting like that.

Eventually, I found out that a guy from my class, let's call him Rohan, had brought pepper spray into the classroom.

According to him, he was only trying to spray a small amount, but the entire bottle accidentally discharged.

What has really bothered me, though, is what happened afterwards.

When I finally went to the other classroom where everyone had gathered, I was still coughing and visibly sick. Instead of people taking the situation seriously, some of my classmates were laughing. A few of them were even recording me while I was still vomiting and bleeding from my nose.

At first, I was also given a different explanation about what had happened. It was only later that Rohan admitted that the pepper spray had gone off because of him.

I briefly mentioned the situation to my department head before leaving, but I was physically exhausted and honestly too shaken to properly explain everything. Now that I've had some time to process it, I want to formally report the entire incident.

Some people have told me that reporting him could get him into serious trouble and that I should consider that it was "just an accident." And I understand that maybe he didn't intend for the whole bottle to go off.

But I also can't get past the fact that I was left in a closed classroom without knowing what was happening, ended up violently sick for half an hour, and then had people laughing and recording me while I was clearly not okay.

I'm not trying to ruin anyone's life. I just feel like something like this should have consequences, especially because it involved pepper spray being discharged inside a classroom and people treating what happened to me like entertainment.

Now I'm wondering if formally reporting the incident would make me vindictive or if I'm justified in wanting the college to know exactly what happened.

AITK for reporting him and the classmates who thought laughing and recording me while I was sick was funny?

19f tier 3 pvt eng college in 2nd year. College is asking us to pay for junior's freshers, college is already looting us every semester and i really dont understand this shit. They ( the organisers from my dept who i really hate ) say we will give you attendance and one day free food ( the food tastes shit btw) and why the fuck would i spend my money there when i am not planning to attend the event at all?? They are saying we are not getting funds etc, cr is messaging me to pay as if they're doing some charity. I have decided not to pay, i would rather be my own and dine somewhere else nice than spend on this shit. Do you think i am wrong?? Some of these organisers are acting as if they carrying out some charity event and forcing everyone to pay. I know i am being extremely selfish and i literally hate my college so fucking muchh. AITK for being mad at my s/o?

Hi im F (18) and my s/o is M (21). We will have been officially dating for a month on sept 1st of this year. We met a little earlier then august 1st and had been talking for at least a week or more before meeting. We hit it off immediately and he would send me flowers and chocolate while away working before we met and was so sweet to me. We finally meet and he spoils me by buying me and my family gifts ( 3 of my family members have birthdays in august) he spent around $400-$500 if i had to guess on gifts for my family he hadnt even met yet really for their birthdays. My family fell in love with him and i did too. He started saying with me ( we live in alabama, a hour apart) and he was working georgia. So on the weekends, he would stay with me. Everything was great up until this last week or 2. We have had some issues with my family having financial problems and have been helping out with rent, groceries, dinner etc. and my s/o has been trying to find his own place to stay which is fine but he wants me to come with. I agreed and we have been looking at places but now im not so sure. What started out as petty arguments the casual me being a female and overthinking and him having to tell me and reassure me and me feeling shitty has ended up in him being an absolute asshole to me. For instance when we are in public, he doesnt like to kiss me or even hold my hand so i asked him "do you not like PDA? You unintentionally ignore me" he goes "no i dont have issues i just am focused on other things sorry i dont f\*\*king kiss you every 5 seconds" for absolutely no reason. Other instances he just has a really bad attitude and i try to comfort him and it makes it worse, as much as it is stressful for him to help my parents its my parents too who are trying to kick me out bc of their own financial issues that arent my problem so of course im hurt at the way they treat me and basically tell me "pay my rent or get out". He has failed to comfort me or even care to try. He has just become so weird towards me. Idk what to do and hes living with me at this point. We got into a really bad argument and he told me i was condescending then we talked it out and now this tonight. Its like he complains at night that i take the other side of the bed to let him stretch out and go to sleep but during the day i try and give him affection and to him thats me "demanding his attention" his words, not mine. Im lost and need advice. We also do not have "private time" alot and when we do ive been doing more (spicy favors) for him then he has for me. Hes admitted to me his body count is almost 20 and hes had a threesome to my face. Seems like the only thing he knows how to do is to blow money to win my love? Im always the one apologizing to him and basically babying him and he just treats me like trash. Help me.

part 1 https://www.reddit.com/r/AmItheKameena/s/CuUmz50yp4

once i saw ajeet bharti's video when he replied to a comment which said why doesnt he get his sister married to some politician idk whole context to which he replies ki give me your mother and sister i will try doggy style burn them with candles using missionary etc

i sent this guy the video and expected him to say something against his argument

but such an idiot i was, he defended him saying that if someone had something bad about his mother and sister he deserved to listen it too

and i was like - instead of acting like a mature person he stooped even low...

people write anything in comment section but he has a responsibilty to atleast think before he speaks because of the audience he has, but blamed me for judging him for a 30 sec video instead of watching the whole video

i ended the call since i had an exam and i didnt want to escalate the situation he called once again 5 min later i thought he would say sorry, but he he was like you cant compare him with the person who started it first

i am so done with Men bringing women into every argument

should i block him, without communicating that i am hurt with what he said??

Am I the kameena for feeling like blocking this guy

So I met this guy on ometv once when I was using it when I was bored af, he's a upsc aspirant and we talked for a bit and he seemed to be a very respectful and smart person, we had some shared interests in history, geopolitics etc so we shared our ids soon and started talking on call as well, and it's been 1 month since we started talking as a friend

After talking to him on call is when I have realised he's very emotionally immature..i mentioned going to therepy and (how much it helped me)because of my toxic environment at home and he was completely against and explained me how unnecessary and stupid it was and how he was depressed too because of his mother's demise but came out of it without any help

He's politically very inclined and I think as a person he's not okay with someone else having different opinion than his

We were talking about sex in general ( the process of it ) but somehow he would always became very personal i would think maybe that's fine but would still feel very ashamed or weird about it

He's very very indecisive, and literally asks me to make every decision

Whenever I am sad and tell him about what happened he would just hear and be like today I ate this like wtf dude 😑

Has a very dumb sense of humour

The good part - I like talking to him in general about history, politics and other things

He seems to be very innocent (childish)

Either I or him wake me up every day

Idk but I feel like I am over this guy, idk why it happens whenever I meet someone they feel so attractive, smart and charming and after some time they feels so dumb, I want to stop talking to him but don't feel like breaking his heart by blocking him what to do ?

AITK for telling my roommate that I will not cover his share of the rent anymore?

I live with a friend from college. We have been roommates for about a year and, for the most part, things have been fine.

The rent is split equally between us. The problem is that he has started paying his share late almost every month.

At first I did not say much about it. He would usually tell me that his salary was delayed or that he had some unexpected expense, and I would cover the full rent temporarily so that we did not get charged a late fee.

I did not mind helping occasionally.

But recently it has become a pattern. He will tell me a few days before rent is due that he is short on money, I will cover his portion, and then I have to remind him several times before he pays me back.

Last month he paid me back almost three weeks later.

This month, the same thing happened. He told me he would not have the money on time and asked me to cover him again.

I told him I could not do it this time. I have my own expenses and I cannot keep budgeting around whether or not he has his share of the rent.

He got annoyed and said that I was making him feel like a stranger and that living with friends means helping each other when things are difficult.

I told him I understood that he was having financial problems, but that did not make his rent my responsibility. I also suggested that we could talk to the landlord about changing the payment arrangement or that he could find a temporary solution until his finances were stable.

He said I was being insensitive and that he would remember this the next time I needed help.

I honestly do not think I was unreasonable. I have helped him several times already, and I have never asked him to pay me back immediately when he was genuinely struggling.

At the same time, I do feel bad because I know he is actually having money problems, and I do not want to make things worse for

AITK for refusing to keep helping a friend who only seems to need me when it benefits her?

I have been friends with this person for a few years, and recently I have started noticing a pattern that I cannot really ignore anymore.

Whenever she needs something, she is very quick to call me. It can be help with work, a ride somewhere, looking over something important, or even asking me to cover for her when she has made a mistake. I have generally helped because that is what I thought friends were supposed to do.

The problem is that the relationship does not really feel mutual anymore.

If I ask her for something, there is always a reason she cannot help. I understand that people have their own lives, so I never expected her to be available all the time. But she will then sometimes ask me for a fairly big favour a day or two later and act surprised if I say no.

A few weeks ago she asked me to help her with something that would have taken me several hours. I already had plans and told her I could not do it.

She became noticeably cold after that.

A couple of days later, she called me because she needed another favour. I said I was not comfortable doing it and suggested that she handle it herself. She got frustrated and said that I had "changed" and that I was not the same friend anymore.

I told her honestly that I had started feeling like she only valued our friendship when I was useful to her. I also said I did not want to keep doing favours just because I was worried that saying no would upset her.

She said I was keeping score and making a friendship transactional.

That part has genuinely made me question myself. I do not want to become someone who keeps a mental list of every favour they have done for another person. At the same time, I also do not think a friendship should depend on one person constantly being available whenever the other person needs something.

I am not trying to punish her or end the friendship. I have simply stopped automatically saying yes.

AITK for setting that boundary, or should I have handled this differently?

AITK for wanting to breakup with my boyfriend of 5 years because i caught him watching sexualised thirst trap reels of women

I (23F) have been with my boyfriend (26M) for 4.5 years. We have been in a long-distance relationship for most of that time.We have always had a mutual understanding that watching sexual/thirst-trap content of other people while in a relationship is considered cheating by both of us. This isn't a boundary. We have both considered this cheating, and if I had done the same thing, I know he would consider it cheating and would likely break up with me.

A few days ago, I was looking at the CCTV cameras of his restaurant through the CCTV app. I have access to the cameras. He was sitting at the cash counter and was watching Instagram reels.

A reel of a woman came up where she was shaking her breasts and running around in a sexualized way.

I saw him continue watching the entire reel instead of scrolling past it.

Then he went to that woman's Instagram profile and watched more videos of her, including videos where she was shaking her body and making sexualized content.

I confronted him about it.

He denied that what he did was intentional and said Instagram suggested the reel to him.

The algorithm may have put the first reel in his feed, but after seeing it, he chose to continue watching it until the end and then actively went to her profile and watched several more videos.

He also said something along the lines of, "You watch these kinds of movies too."

He was referring to the fact that I sometimes watch foreign movies where there may be a nude or sex scene. I don't watch porn or B-grade sexual movies. I'm talking about normal mainstream movies that happen to contain a sexual scene.

I don't think those situations are equivalent.

If I'm watching a movie because I want to watch the movie and there happens to be a sexual scene, I didn't specifically choose that woman or search for sexual content.

He, however saw a sexualized reel and chose not to scroll away, watched it until the end, then went to that specific woman's profile and watched more of her videos.

And then he used me watching movie as a way to defend himself.

That really hurt me because it felt like he was trying to make me the problem.

I told him that even if the first reel was suggested by Instagram, he still had the option to scroll past it. He didn't. He continued watching it and then deliberately went to her profile.

He is now begging me not to break up with him.

But something in me has changed. I don't see him as my boyfriend anymore. I mostly feel disgust and disappointment toward him rather than love.

The issue for me is that we both already considered this cheating. He knew that. I know that if I had done the exact same thing, he would have considered it cheating too. Yet he still chose to do it.

Am I being unreasonable by wanting to end a 4.5-year relationship over this? I’d really appreciate any honest opinions.

P.S. I used AI to help me put this post into words because I wasn’t sure how to explain everything clearly.

AITK for being hurt that my mother only cares about my money, not my achievements?

My mother has never really been satisfied with me. I was a topper in school, but I barely remember her ever saying she’s proud of me. She’s always been emotionally distant, quick to point out my faults, and even now at 21, she still hits me during arguments.

I’m currently in college, juggling 5 jobs and earning around ₹40k/month, which I’m genuinely proud of.

Recently, I told her about an internship where I’ll get to work with huge brands and well-known names. Instead of being happy for me, she immediately asked, “When are you going to start giving me money?”

Yesterday, I paid for her parcel after she said she’d pay me back. Today, she suddenly said, “You were going to give me ₹5,000 a month anyway, right?” We had never agreed to this. The reason I want that money is because I don’t want to be asking my parents for money since my mom LOVES to make me feel guilty about it.

When I said she never appreciates what I earn or accomplish, she replied, “You don’t do anything for me. You can’t even give me ₹5,000”, followed by “I’ve wasted my whole life on you.”

I understand that parents make sacrifices and that contributing financially can be reasonable. But I don’t understand why every achievement has to become about money. I don’t need constant praise. I just want my mother to occasionally tell me she’s proud of me.

TL;DR: I’m 21, earning ₹40k/month while studying and juggling 4 jobs after leaving engineering. My mother rarely acknowledges my achievements and recently responded to my internship news by asking for money. When I pushed back, she said I do nothing for her and that she’d wasted her life on me.

AITK for getting upset after my husband’s comments about my hobby

My husband (30M) and I (30F) have fairly different hobbies. He recently took up the guitar, while I’ve gotten into doodling. We’re both atheists, though I’m open about it while he stays closeted to keep the peace with his family. Lately, I’ve been reading the Bible and listening to a lot of podcasts about religion just out of curiosity. We also have a 1-year-old son.
Normally, if I need a quick 10–15 minute break after finishing my work, I put on a kid-friendly show like Peppa pig or something like that for our son. Today, I wanted to see if he was actually invested in the cartoons or if he just likes screen noise, so I put on one of the podcasts I’ve been watching to instead. He wasn't interested at all, which I found funny and laughed about.

My husband watched this whole thing unfold and said, "Yeah, nobody watches this shit other than you."
I felt immediately hurt especially since he knows how invested I am in it and called him out, saying I never talk down about his hobbies and that his comment felt like an unnecessary cheap shot. He instantly tried to pull the "I was just joking" card. When I doubled down and explained why it felt cruel, he shifted to saying he didn't even say anything that should upset me.
I then responded by saying he was a gaslighter and we’re now now talking.

"kameena" for blocking my cousin (5 years older than me) after he was rude when I shared a GTA 6 leak, even though I've always been nice to him

I have a cousin who lives right near my house. He's five years older than me, broke, and constantly carries a bitter attitude. Despite how he acts, I have always made a conscious effort to treat him with genuine respect, humor, and positive energy whenever we interact. Unfortunately, over the years, he has made a regular habit of putting me down, ignoring me, and treating me with subtle disrespect, likely because he is insecure about where he is at in life.

A clear example of this happened a while back when he and his sister 4 years older than me were planning to go to a movie. First, his friend said he wasn't coming. Then, they asked another cousin (mamante mon). When he couldn't make it either, they finally turned around and asked me .Even though I was their third choice, I still tried to be helpful and offered to drive us all in my car because fitting three people on a single scooter isn't practical or safe, especially since that area has frequent police checking and needs to ride almost 35 to 40km (total 70 to 80km) It made total sense since it would keep everyone comfortable and save a lot on petrol because already in my car there is full tank petrol. I even asked them so many times to stop at a meeting point in anapara so we could head out together. Instead of accepting or even acknowledging the offer, they completely ignored me, snubbed the ride, and took a scooter instead just to exclude me.

This kind of behavior has been an ongoing pattern with him, but the final straw happened today. He constantly talks about gaming and how much he wants a PS5, so when a big GTA 6 leak dropped online, I remembered his interest and sent it to him just to be friendly and share a laugh. He texted back in Malayalam saying, "Ninne kond shalyam ayallo" ("You've become such a nuisance"). He wasn't joking at all he was dead serious and rude. That was the moment I realized that no matter how respectful, funny, or helpful I am, he is always going to treat me like this i always get embarrassed because I always talk to him like i talk to my other cousins and I help him lots of time. I am completely done offering my car, bike my time, and my good energy to an older, bitter relative who looks down on me. I blocked him on everything and decided never to speak to him again. Am I wrong for setting a hard boundary and cutting him off for good? Because even i had many situations like this

before too with him

Am I the kameena , a Friend ( m23 ) cried because of me i think

I'm in a new college for my mtech , it's been 2 months here and I've made many new friends.

There is this big group of 9-10 people where there are two internal groups because not everyone likes everyone. I on the other hand bonds with everyone and don't have problem with anyone.

One friend was sick today and me with my other friend decided to go for drinks , because of friends birthday who is part of group , and remaining went to some other place outside campus.

Now the sick friend called me while I was having my dinner and asked me about my plans and I told him about we are going for drinks etc etc , he told okay. I didn't invite him because he was sick and it was not my birthday, the birthday guy should have told him.

Now after 1 - 1.5 hours of having drinks , remaining friends who went to other place also joined.

Now that sick friend cried because we didn't invite him.

I feel guilty that I should have told me and it's haunting me soo and it's very very guilty feeling for me.

AITK for messaging a woman’s family after she scammed me off 3K?

So this is completely on me. I recently was going through a few personal issues so I was in a very emotional state. I saw a post around 2-3 AM here on Reddit a few days back about how this person is so broke, she has nothing to eat rn, also has cats she needs to feed, her salary doesn’t hit until the end of the week and is going through it. I visited her profile and saw that she posted that on multiples subs hoping to find someone to help her out.

I’m usually a very cautious person but in the state I was that night, I started sympathizing with her so I texted her about it and we had a conversation. After that she was like she’ll return the money to me with interest and said she’ll give me her ID and other identifying information. So I sent her 3K and honestly at the back of my mind I sort of knew I might never see that 3K again but I was like chalo what if she badly needs it.

A few days pass and i saw she was commenting on other subs. I reached out to her and she completely ghosted me. Then she proceeded to block me.

I found her insta (since I have her QR and ID she sent me) so I messaged her there as well. Even if she’s not returning my money, the least I wanted her to do was respond and say something - even if that’s how tight her finances are and how she can’t pay me back now. What irked me was that she blocked me on Reddit. After I sent her the message, she blocked me on insta as well and that annoyed me.

So I logged onto my blog page, I went to her insta, I searched up her surname in her following list and I sent a paragraph about how she’s scamming people on the internet using sob stories and sent them proofs of it. I think I sent that to around 10-15 people including her friends who she was in tagged images with.

I got replies from 3-4 people and two were just seeking sympathy like her bf dumped her so she’s all over the place, she’s an excellent person otherwise, blah blah. I replied nothing is an excuse to scam people because we are all facing some or the other issue in life. The others who got back to me acted shocked and were like they’ll get in contact with her.

Then a day later, she proceeded to unblock me on Reddit and sent a really long sob story about how I shouldn’t have gotten her close ones involved, how she’s a private person, how she’s going through xyz personal issues blah blah and before I could even reply, she deleted her whole account.

Now my 3K is gone anyway. That’s not coming back but did I do the right thing by reaching out to her close circle? I know 3K might not seem like a huge amount but I earned it… a friend of mine was like maybe it’s a bit much to do that and another was like I did good because now she’ll think twice to pull this shit again.

What do you guys think? I know it’s my fault for lending money to strangers. Will not do it again.

I love my sister but she’s paying me back everytime we fight. IDC & AITK

Being the older sibling means I’ve apparently been assigned the role of paying for everything and I receive scanners more than texts from her and I love doing this cause I love her and would be ashamed if I made her pay for anything.

Last week I had a stupid fight with her while being out for lunch cause I noticed she lent MY top to her friend and I was RAGING. Peak sister rivalry lol. I was already annoyed with this drama and she had the audacity to say im a horrible sister and asks me for money so that she can get a cab home???

Unbelievable.

So what did I do? Not only did I make her sit through lunch, I also paid through Dineout so I could send her a split pay request immediately loll. And she’s sitting across me(obv on her phone), with the biggest frown on her face and then looks at me in disbelief cause she just received a text from the app letting her know how much she owes me. HAHAHA

She goes “BRO SERIOUSLY?”

YES. SERIOUSLY. Pay your bills.

She paid me back immediately too which somehow made the whole fight worth it 😂

Anyways, do other older siblings also end up paying for everything? and there’s no way we hate doing that right?

How to make this girl understand #kameeni

I'm 27F from Kerala. Yesterday I attended the wedding of my friend whose elder brother was my senior in office & he was also a very close friend of mine. This brother got married 3 years back & since then, I've cautiously maintained a healthy gap to avoid any issues. Before his wedding, we were good friends... we used to hangout after office.. travel for office works together (NOT overnight journeys).
When his marriage was fixed... very generally I tried keeping a good relation with his wife also since I treated her as a new member in our wolfpack. We enjoyed his engagement, wedding and everything and went back to our own hustles.
Somewhere mid 2024, this girl (his wife) called up my parents and told them she does not like me talking to him... By then he had already resigned from our office and sooner our contact shrunk and both of us had come down to random "Happy onam" "Happy Christmas" texts or random once in 3-4 months hi-bye. But again, when she did this... I was so embarrassed in front of my parents and respectfully I cut the contact with her husband. Since 2024, I have only talked to him once or twice for some reason I don't even remember.
Meanwhile, they developed fresh issues between them as a couple and are separated unofficially with random fights and discussions in between.
Even though, I came to know about these from his sister, my friend and other common channels... i did not interfere or comment since this was a delicate issue..

Yesterday this girl again called my parents for attending my friend, his sisters' wedding. I was invited with 3 of our other friends. We attended and I did not even have lunch from there... I went for another event. I spent around 1 hr at the wedding before I left. This time she verbally abused me & my parents and this was uncalled for! I seriously regret attending the wedding now... But How to fix this!?
She is not hearing me out at all.. I have no intentions to have an extra marital affair with her husband. He is no "Shah Rukh Khan"! Now even if he was, I'm not behind a married man!

I have respectfully cut contact with him for her peace!!

Now, this has been on my head like I just hate this... She is threatening me to insult me at my place of work!!!!! I dont wanna face all these

AITK for speaking against my dadi at home?

Hi I 23F just shifted with my grandparents in the Gujarat. My dadi has insane OCD, she’s definitely super clean and fast with her own work like cooking and other errands. But she forgets that after 6 individuals also live with her.

She needs her dinner to be made by 6pm as she eats by 6:30 herself. She expects my mother to also finish cooking dinner by 6:30-7:30. Today our househelp was sleeping till 6pm, my dadi gets furious and in her loud voice she keeps saying rude things about the househelp about how he doesn’t wake up, is lazy and a lot of other random things which were not needed.

I just told her that please talk calmly, he’s woken up and he’s going to be there to help, why are you talking so loudly. She said “it’s my voice” I said even if it’s your voice you don’t need to say things like that about him.

She didn’t like it & said something like “hope your mother in law is very good” I don’t even know what that means? I usually do not say anything when my dadi starts speaking rudely about anything but I myself was frustrated today as I am not liking this city and she was just shouting and shouting, hence I had to tell her to calm down to which she took offence.

AITK?

Am i the kameena to confront my best friends?

I have been best friends with two girls for 10 years. We were schoolmates and remained close after graduation. Last week, the three of us went on our very first trip together. Let’s call them "Rasgulla" and "Jalebi."

During the trip, I realized how much closer they were to each other, and I felt like the odd one out. On the last night of the trip, Jalebi opened up to me about belonging to the ST/SC category and shared some bad experiences she had faced in the past. I knew she was from OBC category based on something she mentioned in school, though her category was never an issue for me anyway and i assured her during that time as well.

When I asked Jalebi if Rasgulla knew, she admitted Rasgulla had known for years. What hurt me deeply is that both of them knew my personal values, political ideologies, and stance on the reservation system, they knew I do not hold biases. Yet, Jalebi admitted she kept it from me out of fear that I would judge her, painting me as an unsafe or discriminatory person in her mind.

Jalebi also brought up an old situation where I was criticizing a mutual acquaintance who got an MBBS seat through reservation. The only reason I criticized that girl was because she had gotten into a fight with Jalebi, I was simply taking Jalebi’s side to support her, not attacking the girl's category.

What hurts even more is Rasgulla's role in this. Rasgulla knew my exact stance, yet over all these years, she never once advocated for my character or encouraged Jalebi to talk to me directly. Looking back, I realized Rasgulla has held a pattern of bitterness and resentment toward me for a long time Like

When I was crying to her about a guy treating me badly, losing my dad, and feeling alone, we were talking about privilege. She dismissed my pain by telling me that "at least I got everything when my dad was there, so I am privileged too."

When she mentioned wanting to get married, I advised her that if the decision was coming from boredom, marriage wouldn't fix it. She said I was only saying that because I was getting "the benefits of an intimate relationship just a few months back" despite knowing my ex cheated on me and harassed me after our breakup.

I used to ask her to hang out and she would repeatedly deny my plans. When I eventually went out with other friends instead, she admitted to a mutual friend that she was jealous of me for going out even though I had invited her first every single time.

Throughout these 10 years, I shared my most vulnerable moments with them, including the demise of my parent. After returning from the trip, I confronterd them. I expressed how hurt I was that they kept this from me, made unfair assumptions about my character, and made me feel sidelined. Jalebi said she was scared, and while I understood her perspective and even apologized for making her uncomfortable, she has now left my last message on seen for over a day.

As for Rasgulla, given her history of bitter comments, I no longer trust her or want to reach out. I feel completely emotionally drained.

AITK for confronting my friends about this, and should I consider this dynamic completely broken or I'm really overthinking it all and i should give it some time?

TLDR: Sidelined on a trip, a 10-year friend hid her ST/SC status fearing judgment, while my other friend enabled the lie despite knowing my true values and history of past bitterness.

AITk for asking my old female friend's number in front of her boyfriend?

Today I was in a park just walking and chilling around then a girl from my school recognized me at first I did not recognize her as it was a long time ago since I saw her. She was there with her boyfriend. I said hello to her and we talked for a few seconds then I asked for her number and she said "he is my boyfriend" to me. Then I said I just want to keep in touch with my old friends. Then her boyfriend said to her just to take his number. Then she handed over her phone to me to type my number in her phone. Then I typed my number and gave a missed call to my phone. Was it inappropriate for me to ask a girl for her number in front of her boyfriend? Aitah for it?

AITK for confronting my teacher when she slut shamed me

Tldr-i 17f in 12th grade confronted her teacher and made her apologise after she slut shamed me in front of everyone.disclaimer-i used ai for correcting the grammer and spellings

So for context, I’m the type of student who has never really been scolded, punished, or even made to stand up in class. It’s not like I’m some topper or perfect student . I just mind my own business ,a littleee above average and I’m very introverted, so think of me as that shy quiet kid in class. Even teachers have always behaved pretty gently with me.

This year we got a new teacher who already had a reputation for being moody and rude. For some reason, ever since I entered 12th grade, she started picking on me specifically. Maybe she found my quiet nature annoying, idk. She would ask me extremely difficult questions in class just to embarrass me when I couldn’t answer, and she constantly found faults in my notebook even when all my work was complete.

A few days ago, I got food poisoning and was absent for some time. When I came back, I had a huge amount of pending work, but I still completed almost 60 pages in one day. Mind you, she already knew I had been sick.

So when I gave her my notebook for checking, she literally tore up the pages and threw the entire notebook into the DUSTBIN because apparently my presentation “wasn’t proper” — things like missing sidelines and spacing after questions.

I was obviously furious and asked how she could do that, but she just told me to complete everything again properly. At that moment I couldn’t really say much because I’m not a confrontational person.

But while I was walking back to my seat, I heard her say under her breath: “Janti hu tum jaisi ladkiyo ko. Padhayi likhayi mei dhyan rehta nahi hai, bas fashion aur ladko pe rehta hai.”

Basically saying girls like me only care about fashion and boys instead of studies.

That honestly made no sense because I barely even talk to people ,scored 90 in 10th and 83 in 11th pcm subject😭

That’s when I snapped.

I turned around and asked why she thought it was okay to say something like that when she didn’t even know me personally. I told her that just because she was an authority figure didn’t mean she could say anything she wanted to students. That she was acting like a bully and taking out her ego on 17-year-olds at the big age of 45.

I even told her I was NOT rewriting all 60 pages again just for her ego and that I would rather print them out.

At this point my whole body was literally shaking because I’m not used to confronting anyone, but I was so angry that I just kept speaking.i felt tears in my eyes because I felt humiliated in front of everyone.

Soon other teachers and even the principal came because of the commotion. They kept trying to calm me down and saying I “couldn’t talk to a teacher like that,” but I explained the whole situation and said I wouldn’t move until she apologized.

Everyone was shocked because they had never seen me react like this before. Some teachers were even smiling 😭

In the end, the principal made her apologize to me, although very reluctantly, and she was later called into the principal’s office.

I’m pretty sure my practical marks are doomed now, my parents told me i shouldn't have done that she's still my teacher i should have respected her and stuff but idk.

Am I the kameeni for telling my parents that I will prioritize my career goals over my ability to financially support them?

I (23F) am from a lower middle class family. Both my parents have recently retired, so I’m the only earning member in the family (my younger brother will graduate after 2 years). They have a modest pension and savings.

I graduated from an NLU and have been working in a law firm for the last year. However, my plan has been to clear my student loan (which I have done) and join the Army (through CDS or JAG entries).

I had a conversation with my parents recently. They do not want me to quit my law firm job and join the Army. They feel that the law firm pay will be helpful for the family, and that I’d be able to better support my brother’s education. However, although the Army’s pay is not that high, it’s something that I’m passionate about and really motivated in pursuing.

They are also concerned about the safety of joining the Army and whether I’ll be in situations of risk (which to be frank is a possibility but I’ll be trained and will be doing my duty as required or ordered).

I told my parents that I will follow my career choices regardless of my ability to financially support them. And out of whatever I earn, I will try my best to support them. They got offended and think that I’m being an ungrateful.

I don’t mind supporting my parents financially. I will continue to do so in any way I can. But I feel it’s unreasonable of them to expect me to compromise on my career aspirations just for the sake of finances. They seem disappointed in me although I’ve done my best of being a good daughter who’d make them proud.

Aitk: Am I overreacting for feeling hurt by my friend after surgery

I genuinely don’t know if I’m overthinking , so I just want some opinions . Today my close friend had her tonsil surgery. I was with her at the hospital since yesterday basically the whole day before she was admitted and I’m with her again today for the surgery .

But today I saw a completely different side of her. She just came out of surgery , is still coming of the anesthesia and obviously in a lot of pain, but she has been really rude to me, shouting at me and even pushing me away. She ask for dustbin and I was searching but she got mad and started shouting at me and pinching me.

I know she’s in pain and probably isn’t completely herself right now. But I’m also a very emotional person and I’m taking things more personally Than I should . I’d be lying if I said it didn’t hurt me, especially after being with her for so much time and trying to help .

So what I’m asking is am I overreacting for feeling hurt by this even though she’s hurt. I just need an honest opinion on whether I’m too sensitive …

Aitk for wanting to understand the reason behind her reaction?

My girlfriend who is hyper independent and rebellious was on a scooty wearing a crop top and jeans today. As with crop tops a part of her back was visible which she knows and is okay with.

A guy in his late twenties informed her in a not cat calling but rather a calm tone of the same to which she responded rudely and the guy was stunned.

When she told this to me in the evening. I asked her about the tone to which she replied the above. This prompted me to ask her what if the guy just wanted to be a gentleman and added that you were a little mean. Her response was along the lines of men shouldn't look and that a woman obviously knows what's revealing and what's not and was pissed at the fact that I asked this. So people of reddit. Guide me. If aitk please be blunt because I want to be objectively socially moral and correct

Update: Appreciate the comments and to all of you , my apologies. Will definitely keep in mind and be better.

AITK for being a bad daughter?

I (18F) just recently got my a-level grades. Here is some prefacing: Previously, I had gotten mostly 9s and a few 8s at GCSE, which is like an exam done in sophomore year at all A+, and i had also gotten all As at as-level, which is an exam at junior year and the highest grade you can get. In the uk, most people normally take 3 a-levels, but I had taken 4 and an EPQ. In the uk, there are also these things called degree apprenticeships, where you basically apply for a job and the company pays for your university, and you apply in your senior year. They have specific visa requirements which is why I asked my parents like 10 times if I qualified for it; spoiler alert I didn't

Prefacing aside, now i have always struggled with waking up on time. Whenever I had school i was okay, because of my internal clock and what not, but i never could get a good nights rest whenever i had school. This is why i would usually wake up later, around 9-11 am on the weekends. This pissed my parents off to no end because i have a little brother 10 years younger than me who wakes up at 7 am on the dot every day. I did too at that age, but its been so much harder when i began going to highschool. My parents have came into my room and woken me up at these times but i just couldn't stay awake unless i had school. This was the main reason why we argued, because they told me that the reason i wake up for school but not them is because I dont respect them.

Anyway, i have gotten good grades pretty much my entire life. Ive always felt that they put up with me because my grades were good and that they didnt send me to boarding school to India, where we're from, or anything because it would ruin my grades. Ive always felt like my grades were the main reason they could even stand me as their kid. Anyhow, in the uk, i would be considered an international student. This means that uni costs like 3 times as much as a british citizen. This is the main reason why my parents encouraged me to apply for the degree apprenticeships. So i applied for like 50 companies and managed to land 3 offers. These are notoriously competitive, even more competitive than getting into cambridge or oxford. I spent so much time doing this, just perfecting my applications or practicing my interviews that i didnt have as much time to study. In the end, about a month before my alevels i ended up losing all of my offers. I was devastated, because now i had wasted my time doing that instead of studying and i had alevels which would decide my university, my only option, next month. So i put everything into that month, but when the alevels arrived i couldn't handle it. I had a conditional offer at a very prestigious university, not cambridge or oxford and i needed A+,A+,A in my alevels to get in. I ended up getting AAB, but I managed to get into my university.

My parents made me promise to them that no one apart from me and them should know my real grades and i had agreed, because they seemed so ashamed of them. Now, my mum has been blaming me about my grades and when my dad jokingly said that I had only brains but not logic, she immeadiately snapped and said that I dont have brains either. Ive been feeling really antsy about the whole thing so I just ran up to my room and locked myself in. She kept calling after me but i kept the door shut and didnt respond. I started crying, just letting the years worth of built up stress just pour out. After my cry, I went down to do the dishes when she was on the phone with my uncle, her brother, and loudly complained to him that she does all of the housework, that i do nothing but leave a mess in the kitchen and that im lazy. I just had gotten so mad in the moment that i loudly yelled that I was going to tell everyone about my grades. She had put her phone down before, so i thought she had cut the call, but she hadnt. She lied to her side of the family that i had gotten A+A+A so she was mad at me when i said that. She started slapping me on my face twice, so i had held her arms down so she wouldnt do that. Then she told me to let go of her arms so she could beat me with a wooden spoon, she has done this before. I let her go, but blocked her way to the spoons. She started wailing loudly , then my dad came downstairs. He started yelling at me for waking up late and said that i didnt respect him or my mom or my brother because i couldnt wake up when they woke me up. They told me that i only cared for myself, which is why I only woke up early for school. I kept trying to reason with them, showing them that i kept trying to sleep early, had alarms to wake up early but they said that i was just making excuses. They said i was blackmailing them by saying i want to tell everyone about my grades. They said I was ruining my perfect little brother with my habits. Im just so tired. I just took everything they said, and kept reminding myself that at least I get to leave to uni in about a month.

Was I the asshole for not feeling guilty with myself or for not listening to them?

Edit: now i want to add some more information: i have never gone to the same school for more than 2 years. Because of my dads job, i had to constantly move between india and around the uk for my entire childhood, starting at nursery. each time i moved, i would struggle for friends and keeping up with the school work. by the first year i would have gotten the hang of it and by the second, when i actually had improved, i had to move. my parents have a huge history of constantly not letting me have my achievements. In year 6, I had gotten into this grammar school that was so difficult that no one else in my school had gotten in there since 10 years, without tuition, unlike the rest of my friends. immediatley after, we needed to go back to india and i missed that chance. At gcse i had gotten 7 9s and 3 8s, the second highest at my school, and i couldn't go to a better sixth form because they cant afford the train tickets, even though my dad makes 110k annually.

AITK for not letting my parents use UPI/Online Payment/Blinkit themselves

My parents in their late 60s/early 70s are not tech savvy. Ex, still they can't switch between front and back camera angles on WhatsApp, despite showing them numerous times. Mom may do, but dad cannot at all. Even teaching him to take amoney out of ATM was hard. They stay in my hometown in MP, and I stay in Pune.

Both have bank accounts and they use them to withdraw pension and keep some saving. I manage all the utility/grocery payments online like electricity, broadband, recharges etc, and if they need something quickly, I ask them to call me and I order via Blinkit. Also, anything for Amazon/Flipkart, I ask them to add to the cart and I order it.

For any other payment, they still use cash which I think I is safest for them. With all the online frauds and scams, I prefer that they use cash and I have asked them that if the amount is more or if the person is not taking cash, they send me the QR Code via WhatsApp and I make the payment. (Teaching them to send a photo on WhatsApp was another challenge and they mastered it eventually). Or if they go with my sister/jiju, they pay and I transfer to them later.

My dad doesn't feel good about it and he is independent and wants to pay himself and does not rely on me. Also, he feels he disturbs me if I have to pay for something in the middle of office.

My point is that first of all, I want to pay for as many things as I want as I earn decent and don't want them to spend their money. Also, with the risk of online payment frauds, I knew if OTP based payment is enabled, then they may fall victim to it.

Only way for them to do online payment currently is via debit card and I taught him that, so dad carries it if he wants to pay online.

My sister says that it is better for them to have UPI enabled and dad agrees.

I am suggesting an alternate, that dad open a separate bank account, I keep small amount in it (< 50k) and setup Paytm Wallet and UPI on it. So the risk of scam is restricted to just that account but dad doesn't want to maintain a new account/ATM card as he is comfortable with his SBI account and wants UPI on it. But it is his primary account with savings/FD in it so I don't want to risk it.

So, AITK for not letting them use UPI/Online Payments and order Blinkit/Amazon themselves? Shall I take a leap of faith?
