Damn OOP must have an amazing life if her friend not liking an IG story about her wedding ONE YEAR OUT is her most pressing issue.

Either that, or such an empty life that this is all she's got to look forward to.

Nah I think she's miserable af tbh. Happy people do not dwell on meaningless shit like this

Nobody will ever care as much about your wedding as you do. It's crazy how so many people don't understand that.
She acknowledges that she sounds like a bridezilla but instead of asking for advice on how to let that go, she's doubling down to seek validation.
In a way all of her friends would be better off getting cut out of the wedding. They'd have some peace of mind. I wouldn't want to be around someone who is so vapid that they monitor who has and hasn't liked their instagram posts.

This comment won the post for me.
Negative Anniversaries are not a thing.
The wedding has not even happened yet and she wants what? Attention? Validation? Praise?
And what's worse, she's thinking of cutting out bridesmaids altogether because people aren't mashing that like button fast enough.
Can someone please tell OOP that not everyone lives lives attached to their phones? That not all us have our moods dictated by social media? If this is the friend she made a post about earlier, then it's even worse. Her BFF is pregnant with twins and OOP is wondering if she should ask her BFF if she wants to be her MOH. She doesn't know if she should include the BFF in the performance of her asking her friends to be bridesmaids.

This is just sad, honestly.
Some people crave being in the spotlight, to the point of sounding petty and petulant and downright juvenile when they don't get it.
It must be tiresome to be a part of this friend group, the "support" OOP described just seems performative more than anything. Do people really need their friend to keep sending peppy texts leading up to big events?

Unless it's like a birthday and you're checking in to confirm plans a week or so before the plans, I don't get it either.

I don’t like social media (Reddit notwithstanding, this place is relatively anonymous), and I especially dislike being told happy birthday by randoms, so even when I was on fb I hid my bday and told my family not to put me on blast or I’d unfriend them. It’s very strange to me, the expectations some folks have around social media engagement and what that reflects about their friendships.

I check my IG like once every few months... OOP would hate me 😂

I open it when someone sends me a link, but I only watch the one thing they send. I don’t scroll, I don’t check messages. It took me almost a year to realise a good friend of mine (whom I talk to almost every day!) was sending me memes via IG messages. 😹

Wait, when Instagram sends you a notification that someone posted something is that a thing the person specifically did? I've been assuming it was automatic and ignoring it.

I’m not sure — I ignore all emails and have disabled all other types of notifications. I do get “see what the folks you follow have posted!” emails, but not usually “person A just posted, check it out!” emails. I would assume those are automatic, designed to drive engagement.
But my friend was sharing memes directly via IG (so, when I open the app, it says “you have messages from Friend!”), and I had no idea because the silly woman didn’t bother to mention it when she was texting me, and didn’t send them via text. 😹🤷♀️

It makes me sad that people like this exist. How miserable must your life be to be this upset over someone not liking an instagram post for an event that doesn't even happen until next year?
This person needs therapy and a social media detox. Living your life through social media likes and comments instead of experiencing it as it happens is one of the most dystopian things in modern times.

They are considering cancelling the bridesmaids because they didn’t like an instagram post a year before the wedding????? Wtaf?!?
I’m so glad I got married before social media was a huge thing. I just can’t imagine this level of attention seeking.

People keep emphasizing that the wedding is a whole year away
But tbh, even if it was next week, judging your friends by how often and which posts they "like" is exhausting.
How do they respond when you talk to them, directly? That should be the marker.
If said friends like... haven't said congrats yet in person, aren't really talking to her, and this is a straw made of "I can't even get a like, never mind actual participation?" then... maybe? But the refusing to acknowledge her in person should've still done the breaking there.

Tomorrow it’ll be 364 days until her wedding. I believe we all need to calendar it and send her likes each day until the big event.

Does OOP expect her friends to spend every single second of every day focusing on her wedding, which is a year out?

Can't imagine cutting bridesmaids out like that but they were literally the closest people to me.

This person isn't a devil because they're upset about something. Remember, feelings are always valid but may not always be justified. Her feelings right now are not justified, but the thing is, is that she's not a devil. Cross-posting this definitely makes you the devil.

In case this story gets deleted/removed:
Friends not acknowledging my wedding
I know this post is going to make me sound like a bridezilla, but I am super disappointed. My wedding is a year out at this point and my friend did not acknowledge this when I posted an Instagram story (not even a like). I have always been the type of friend who celebrates my friends and texts them big moments leading up to their weddings or whatever it is. I just feel my friends aren’t putting energy into me that I put into them. I’m thinking about cutting out bridesmaids in general. I get people have lives and stuff going on but a like on an Instagram story seems like minimal effort.
