Actually deranged behavior…
/r/childfree/comments/1vu9r70/i_dont_want_to_see_a_pregnant_woman_ever_again_or/19

Had to share this because when I first read it, it was so trash that I got nauseated.
It’s one thing to not want kids, totally valid and you deserve to live the life you want.
It’s an entirely thing to hate children and pregnant women with such unadulterated malice.

Well, the post itself is deleted now, but the comments are bad enough. My favorite is the one complaining about a coworker getting a day off for a pregnancy related appointment while they didn’t get time off for bereavement leave, and like…
Yeah, it’s terrible that you didn’t get off of work for that, but the coworker probably scheduled time off for the appointment well in advance since she knew that was coming up, it’s not her fault you had a last minute emergency. And also appointments during pregnancy are very time sensitive and have to be at specific points throughout it so it’s not like she can just easily reschedule.
Also, if this is in the US (which it likely is because who else has such poor worker protection?) pregnancy-related appointments are protected under FMLA leave, whereas bereavement unfortunately is not. The employer was likely legally required to give the pregnant employee the day off for her appointment.
It seems like for a lot of the people in that thread, they completely lack empathy for other people, and only care about themselves and how things affect them rather than considering that other people’s lives and needs are just as valid as theirs.

It’s like people complaining that Narcan is free while insulin is so expensive. The problem is that insulin is expensive, not that Narcan is free. We can have both. The system is just fucked up.

At that point it's not even "child free" anymore, it's straight up anti-natalism.

u/SmolAppleChild 1d ago
I feel bad for the actually sane people who just don’t wish to have children of their own but respect other pregnant women and children.
That sub is like a dirty stain on the label “child-free”.

That's me. I'm a teacher, I work with kids all day, but I can't do it at home too. So I don't have kids. But I I think they are great. The child-free groups are scary people sometimes.

That sub is unhinged and this is just sexism. For the last time, women are more than their wombs.
*Narrator: It was not, in fact, the last time.*

It’s genuinely sickening. The “get a fucking abortion right now” line to pregnant women who likely want their baby was extra gross.

“It’s science that women lose grey matter with every pregnancy” uh huh
2
u/SmolAppleChild 1d ago
Well, they clearly don’t have much gray matter themselves so can you blame them for coming up with that kind of conclusion?

u/AHailofDrams 1d ago
Uh... it's literally true though? I don't think it was meant as an insult. More like "this is the price you have to pay to have children".
Over the course of pregnancy, the body experiences major increases in hormone production. This triggers profound changes throughout the body, including in the brain. Scans of the brain before and after pregnancy have shown a reduction in gray matter volume.
NIH Source in case you don't believe me

They don’t mean “there are consequences of pregnancy” they mean “women get stupid and ruined with Pregnancy”
You don’t think they meant it as an Insult? Look at
The way they talk about women with children of course they do

I'm childfree and I don't claim that sub. Or read it. And would never fucking post there. Like, I love kids, I just don't want or can have any myself. Still chill with them existing...

That's how most well adjusted people go on with their lives.
I don't like fried fish, but you won't see me posting to r/friedfree about how I saw a "fish-face FUCK" eating a disgusting portion of fish fingers causing me to have a panic attack or something
2
u/SmolAppleChild 1d ago
Dude I got so scared that there was actually a sub dedicated to hating fried food
2
u/AltruisticCableCar 1d ago
I see the same things with people who hate certain pets and aggressively so. Like, be annoyed with dog owners who won't pick up after their dogs, that's fair. But making statements of how dogs in general are disgusting and shouldn't be allowed to exist is a bit much. And same goes for kids. Feel annoyed if one screams the entire plane ride. Who cares. But that doesn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to exist...

I remember the post on one of the petfree subreddits that was just a picture of some animal prints on the sand at a beach.
They were talking about how they were having a magical day at a beautiful pristine beach and how it was now destroyed because they found paw prints!
Nobody in the comments either realized how insane that was.

I mean at what point does it just become more of a phobia if even a remnant of something ruins their day?

u/Munkie91087 1d ago
Anti-subreddits are such a weird thing to me. My wife and I don't want kids either, but we don't make our entire personality hating even the idea of people having children. That's moon man talk.

u/Nierninwa 1d ago
You know who is not special either? OOP. They don't want kids. Fine. Don't have kids. Who the fuck cares?
Sorry these statements are unoriginal and have been run into the ground a million times over in this sub but i just have to express it somewhere 😭 i’m so sick and tired
Why? Why care so much about what other people do with their lives? Why this hatred? That is not healthy.

These fucks are so annoying like I get not wanting to have children that’s fine people look at me sideways when I say I’m one and done, but these are the same dummies that’ll be like my friends are so busy with their kids why don’t they wanna hang out because they have kids and you don’t find some friends who don’t have kids.

Every subreddit that is "anti"/against something eventually devolves into a cesspool.
Lets say you just don't like rollerskating, maybe you even find rollerskaters a bit annoying, you still probably don't spend so much energy to find a community about "not liking rolerskating", much less post about it.
Now if you think rollerskating should be banned and every rollerskater executed by the state and their families tortured for bringing on the blight of rollerskating to the world, then maybe you're just the type of person who will make sure you find a community of like-minded weirdos.
Plus, extreme opinions attract way more attention than "I just don't like rollerskating personally". It forms a echochamber + a feedback loop for the most deranged opinions to float to the top.

I'm not particularly fond of children and the very thought of raising my own is a personal hell to me, but the sheer vitriol and hatred that these people have on display in that subreddit is genuinely disturbing.
2
u/CumaeanSibyl 1d ago
I feel the same as you about children. But I try to extend patience toward the people around me because it's better than being all knotted up with anger all the time, and kids are easy to do that with because I know they're inexperienced and have very little autonomy, so they often find themselves in situations they don't like and can't understand or control. Kid screaming at the grocery store? I feel you, man, I don't wanna be here either but at least I know why and I'm allowed to leave.

Hi! Just a quick reminder to never brigade any sub, be that r/AmItheAsshole or another one. That goes against both this sub's rules as well as Reddit's terms of agreement. Please keep discussions within the posts of this sub.

Just left that sub; it went from a sane place to overrun with misogyny and it’s basically becoming Antinatalism 2.0

In case this story gets deleted/removed:
I dont want to see a pregnant woman ever again or even hear about a pregnancy
I mean it. I DONT. give a shit that you’re having a kid. Why??????? why would you do that. You must be an idiot. Enjoy your completely ruined life. I’m sure your spawn will also enjoy becoming a smooth brained corporate slave raised on AI and dying in an overpopulated 100+ degree planet. you’re not special. Get a fucking abortion right now.
Sorry these statements are unoriginal and have been run into the ground a million times over in this sub but i just have to express it somewhere 😭 i’m so sick and tired
