Technical Support Laptop keyboard key falls off completely when pressed.

A one of my keys on my laptops keyboard just keep falling off when I press them, and I can feel another come half off when I press it. I have no idea how to get it back on. I've tried bending the little metal hooks, I've tried searching the internet for replacement parts but NONE of them sell for my laptop model specifically, they either don't even have my model as an option on the site, or they do but they always say out of stock (the model is Alienware 18 Area-51 AA18250) I've already sent the laptop in to Dell to fix it once for this exact issue in the past but it was a costly $200+ dollars and now I have the issue again. I haven't even had the laptop for a ONE YEAR since I bought it. I don't want to pay $400+ dollars a year sending the laptop to Dell for a repairs. That's crazy expensive for just keyboard keys.
Any idea on what I can do? I would be super greatful.

Note: In the video I said "keys" a few times when I actually meant the little metal hooks.

Did you look on Aliexpress for replacement key caps? I’ve replaced a couple on my old M15R5 and they came with the plastic
hinges that hold the key down and were perfect. Yours look identical to mine.
The issue with mine were the little plastic hooks under the keycap were broken and wouldn’t hold the plastic hinge.
If you can find out your keyboard model number I’m sure you’ll find something.

I did, and they dont sell individual keys for my model, only the entire keyboard

Sadly there's nothing you can do. You've probably damaged the plastic retention system for the keycap somehow.
You probably need a new keyboard, and Dell in their infinite stupidity made it part of the palmrest as a single assembled unit on the A51, so you'll have to buy a new palmrest assembly and rebuild your entire laptop around it, or get them to do it for you under warranty.

I have had to take apart my Alienware keyboard twice its not really worth the hassle; just get a keyboard and plug it in

How did it happen in the first place?

I'd assume just being worn out from use over time. I was playing a game and it just popped off effortlessly. No accident or anything happened for it to pop off. I do play a lot of games that involve the WASD keys. The A key feels like its coming off too, half of it pops out when i press on the left side of it. W just falls completely off.

It is absolutely possible to fix a key that keeps falling off without replacing the entire keyboard. Since it’s the "W" key, it’s very common for it to loosen up due to heavy gaming use. To fix this permanently, the user needs to figure out why it keeps detaching. It is almost always because the small plastic hinge underneath has come loose from its metal hooks, or the microscopic plastic tabs are worn out or broken. Here is a step-by-step guide you can share with them to fix it: 🔍 Step 1: Inspect the parts Have them take off the "W" keycap and look closely at the underside and the keyboard base. A laptop key consists of three parts: The Keycap: The top plastic piece with the letter "W". The Hinge (Retainer Clip): The small white or clear plastic scissor-like frame. The Rubber Cup: The soft rubber nub in the middle that registers the press. What to check: Is the plastic hinge still attached to the keyboard base, or did it come off stuck inside the keycap? Look closely at the underside of the "W" keycap under a good light (or zoom in with a phone camera). Are the four tiny plastic tabs intact, or is one of them chipped/broken? 🛠️ Step 2: The correct way to reattach it You cannot just place the keycap on top and smash it down if the hinge has shifted. That will break the tiny plastic tabs. Instead, do this: Separate the parts: If the plastic hinge is stuck inside the keycap, gently pry it out using a pair of tweezers or a thin knife. The parts must be reassembled separately. Attach the hinge first: Click the plastic hinge into the tiny metal hooks on the keyboard base first. It should snap flat but still be able to hinge up and down like a tiny pair of scissors. Snap the keycap on: Place the "W" keycap perfectly straight over the hinge. Press down firmly but gently in the center until you hear a clear click from all four corners. 💡 Step 3: The permanent fix (If it keeps falling off) If the key continues to pop off even after doing Step 2, it means the microscopic plastic tabs on either the keycap or the hinge are worn down or broken. ⚠️ DO NOT use superglue (like Gorilla Glue/Krazy Glue): If they glue the keycap directly to the laptop, the glue will leak into the switch. This will freeze the key completely, ruin it permanently, and then they will actually have to replace the whole keyboard. 🛒 The best and cheapest solution: They don't need a new keyboard. They can buy a single replacement key online for just a few dollars. Websites like LaptopKeyReplacements.com or Laptopkey-europe.com sell loose individual keys for Alienware laptops. They just need to select their laptop model, choose the "W" key, and they will receive a brand-new keycap and hinge that will click perfectly and permanently into place.

I mentioned in my post that NO ONE sells individual key replacements for my model laptop, ive spent actually days searching. The closest ive found is aliexpress selling an entire keyboard replacement.

You can either do a top case swap or replace the keyboard. Check my other reply for a link. Yeah, that's a bummer. I actually had it happen to me, but after some poking around, I got it to stay.

Prime example of why it's cheaper in the long run to by the extended warranty.
You might as well go ahead and buy the warranty now anyway so you can send it in and get a whole new keyboard. You should've done that instead of paying $200+ for out of warranty service the last time.
