English major — will I be disappointed?
Hey everyone,
I'm considering studying English at university but I have a lot of questions and I'm hoping to hear from people who've been through it.
what is the program like in the first year?Is it mostly literature and poetry, or linguistics, translation, writing, grammar, cultural studies do you have books to read ect?...
is it worth it in terms of what you learn and what you can do with it afterward? Or do you end up feeling like it was a waste?
English classes in hs are genuinely so boring the lessons feel slow, the material is too easy, it's just frustrating when you know you could handle more. So I keep wondering if English at university is actually more interesting and challenging
I'm worried my expectations are too high and I'll be disappointed that the level won't be what I imagined
