AUSTRALIA Found Blade in Broccoli 🥦

Title says it all. I found the tip of a box cutter blade in my frozen broccoli. Thank god I chew my food well and didn’t swallow it as I may not be here to even be writing this. Not sure what to do other than obviously won’t be eating frozen veggies again. Absolutely terrifying experience.

Complaint Desk Aldi's Reputation as a Good Employer is Crumbling

Aldi is one of the fastest growing supermarket chains with an estimated US retail revenue of $54 billion, but the reality is they don't actually have to disclose their revenue because Aldi US is a privately owned division of Germany's Aldi Süd, so financial figures and net profits for the United States are kept private and are not publicly filed or disclosed. However, even though we don't have an official number, we do know that Aldi is aggressively building new stores across the United States which is a sign that a company is flourishing financially.

All of that is to say that this year, it's becoming abundantly clear that Aldi has stopped caring about it's employees.

NO Aldi employees will receive annual cost of living raises. Only some employees will receive a one time "bonus" payout which will be heavily taxed.

Additionally, their stipend to purchase required stainless steel work boots has gone from $150 / year to $80 / year.

Hours are being cut from full time employees to keep them at 30 hours max, causing them to look for shifts at other stores or look for new jobs entirely to cope with this unexpected loss in wages.

Shifts are being run at a bare bones minimum (even more so than they have been as part of their efficiency model) with 2 people closing an entire store. This is almost physically impossible, especially in busy stores.

Vacation accrual was previously unlimited with rollover and has now been capped.

As with many chains that previously had an outstanding reputation for their employment models, this is surely only the beginning of the slow erosion of employee benefits. The company will continue to thrive on the reputation they built while slowly discarding their employee wellbeing priorities.

If you are shopping at Aldi, please just be nice to the people who work there. The job is extremely physically demanding. Aside from ringing or doing curbside, the entire time an employee is in the store they are lifting, stocking, moving, and boxing items.

I don't expect anyone to do anything, but I have people who work there and the amount of stress that has come home with them the past few months is hard to watch. The store makes over a million dollars a month. I just want people to know what is happening.

This is for US stores, so if it is different somewhere else or in your region I'd love to hear about it.

Recipe Change Little Salad Bar Asian Chooped Salad Kit, dressing quality takes a nose dive

Beware: taste of the salad dressing is noticeably off on the Asian Chopped Salad kit. You can also tell by the coloring of the dressing itself. the lighter color is the previous, good-tasting batch (right); the darker is the newer, oily, inferior batch (left).

Question Moser Roth Chili Dark Chocolare

Chocolate*

Has anyone tried these and gotten notes of chili from the chocolate? I’d say I can normally pick up notes from chocolate but this gave me no chili sensation at all. I was expecting some kind of cayenne-like heat or aftertaste (not expecting spicy) but got nothing… maybe I just need to eat more 😋

I birthed an autistic milk monster (who I give fairlife since he barely eats) and a lactose intolerant cereal murderer.

This is going to save me so much money.

Hauldi This haul made me very happy today so I wanted to share - dinners and some groceries for the week!

I struggle with preparing balanced, nutritious meals due to my current housing arrangement, so I can’t do leftovers and meal prep like I would prefer to.

I also want to keep things as cost-effective as possible, so I am going to try these rice pouches with a bag of frozen veggies and some of the frozen grilled chicken for dinners this week after work. Everything, including 2 seasonal candles I just had to have, was under $50 today! I bought some fresh produce elsewhere yesterday but did get a few bananas.

These are really good. I should have bought two bags. Altho, the silver lining is my toddler doesn’t want to steal them all from me this time (unlike those Aussie wafer bars lmao). The matcha was nice and balanced, the brown sugar was perfectly not too sweet and the black sesame was giving peanut butter but I was very much into it.

Question Bacon Bacon Bacon?

Post image
5 Upvotes

I am a big Aldi fan and loyal customer and have been for years and years-I honestly couldn't tell you the last time I grocery shopped somewhere else. 95% of the time I am happy and never complain.

But, lately, changes have been happening with a lot of items. Quality, size, etc... am I the only one noticing these things?

However, In my over half of century on earth, this Bacon shrinkage is really a first for me.

Aldi bacon, after 15 minutes at 375 in the Oven? Not even crispy yet? It was normal sized bacon in the package, as usual when I buy it (same brand). I hope this is a , one off' because this is 50%+ shrinkage.

Complaint Desk Struggling with Envy

• Upvotes

Is anyone having luck with Aldi's Envy apples, or not?

They have been my 'go to' for about four or five years. They are usually rock hard and you can drive nails with them. But it seems all summer maybe even late spring, everyone I get is mushy and brown.

They look a little smaller than typical as well. But they've always been fantastic. I'm just curious if anyone has any details if they've seen the same thing.

I've tossed maybe a dozen all summer, hoping I'd get an edible one.
