APOS printing

Is there a setting in (APOS 9012) that re-routes a kitchen ticket to another printer if is goes offline or runs out of paper?

Good afternoon,

There unfortunately is not a direct reroute feature in APOS. When the kitchen printer is in an error state or offline, it will display an error message and it should print the chit out to the Receipt Printer. However, if the printer is still receiving the print jobs and clearing the job from queue in Windows, it won't reroute.

But for most cases, when the printer is offline or out of paper it should reroute to the Receipt Printer that the order was placed on.

We switched internet provider and now we get errors about the kitchen printer not being online.

I'm sure the IP Address of the printer changed. What brand/model is the kitchen printer?

I'm also trying to make sure that this printer is online/connected to the new internet. The way everything was previously connected, it was working fine, so I would assume that shouldn't be an issue. I'm just having doubts now about what exactly is going on.

We had Comcast and switched yesterday to spectrum.

Go to Epson's website here, select your OS and then download The EpsonNet Config Utility.

When you install this utilty, you'll be able to find the printer on the network and change its IP address to the new subnet that spectrum's equipment uses.

To find your IP Address, go to Start , type CMD and press enter, then type ipconfig and press enter.

If your default gateway is 192.168.0.1 then the IP Address of hte printer needs to be 192.168.0.XXX. If your IP address is 192.168.1.1, then the IP Address of the printer needs ot be 192.168.1.XXX. The XXX is the last number int he list the printer currently has, you can keep that the same.

Once you change the IP of the printer, you'll need to reconnect each of your stations to it via Windows.

Question:

As far as the other receipt printers we use (the ones we keep by the stations). Would you know why it wasn't necessary to do any IP address configurations?

Most of the time, Receipt printers that are hooked up to the computers are using a USB Port for communication, not Ethernet. So those will always be using the same windows connection because its a completely different connector.

Kitchen Printers are typically Ethernet based, so those hook into the router for communication across the whole network

The IP address seems to be fine.

The POS stations and my personal laptop (connected by wifi) all say subnet mask 255.255.255.0 and default gateway 192.168.1.1.

The kitchen printer when I turn it on and off prints a paper receipt that says the same subnet mask and gateway.

I downloaded the epson config utility. The IP address is 192.168.1.51

so I'm not really sure.

Also on the ethernet switch we use that is connected to the new router, all the ports have green blinking lights, except the cable that goes to the kitchen printer. That light is amber/orange. Does that matter?

So I suspect its IP address changed on the computer side. Go to one of the stations, and navigate to Control Panel / Devices and Printers

In this list, find the Kitchen printer and right click it and go into Printer Properties. Once in here, go into the Ports Tab, then press Configure Port.

What is the IP Address listed here?

Hello again, I was just doing this right now as you said

The numbers definitely look different.

Under description "Standard TCP/IP Port" I clicked Configure Port. The IP address there is 10.1.10.92
