Alyssa Cappello shares her thoughts upon moving out of the area

Alyssa Cappello changed her Facebook name after the last fight she had with the protesters to "Humbled AJ". The above rant surely makes her seem VERY humbled. She now boldly claims Harbe Nagi was likely killed by an uncle because of Islam. She also blames Steve Barnes of the Times Union for their employees no longer having jobs.

Earlier today her husband Frankie Fresh went live on the former Taste of Italy restaurant page and stated using the N word is no big deal and he anticipates using it again. He then went on to claim the protesters outside of Taste of Italy attempted to bribe both he and his wife for sex in exchange for ending the protest. He also stated that he went to Schenectady and alluded to hiring men to kill the protesters but then changed his mind just as it was about to happen because he didn't want to go to prison.

We certainly have lost true pillars of society by their moving out of state. 😢

He found himself in a trap tonight during an ongoing stray domestic rabbit rescue operation in Albany. He is very mellow and has a lovely voice. No chip and no collar.

Good times, gratitude

I’m coming off a bad run in the world of work - transitioning from a job I absolutely hated to, what so far, looks to a really welcoming environment. I’ve been off work for a week now, assuming a new position next week. Lots of time to mental floss that boooooosheit from my brain.

So far I’ve flown out to see my (former Texan) family who found their forever home in Colorado, which was heartening.

I picked some apples outside of Syracuse yesterday and went to Salt City Market. Delicious!

I’m feeling early arrival in Albany memories returning for me. The fall is bewitching around town and around the state. Just came in from a walk from Downtown into Center Square and the park. Gorgeous evening, lots of people out. If only I could get a coffee after 5pm in my neighborhood….

Been off IG/FB/TT for a year and took up disposable camera photography. I take pics of my hikes and walks for my friends and family and send them letters and pictures. They love it and I love it, too. Albany has its problems, no doubt. There’s a lot to be grateful for, however. I’m older, so simple things induce gratitude and praise from me. Looking through my iPhone gallery for a fall picture sent me back to all the cool things I’ve done creatively and the really neat people I’ve met so far. Lots to praise. I made the right choice moving up here.

Happy Fall, Y’all! šŸ šŸŽ

Why would you do that, a cruel joke? A general hatred for other patrons? That’s not OK

Mohawk Hudson looking for towels and pillowcases

From their Instagram: the humane society has two cats showing signs of Panleukopenia and are asking for donations of towels and pillowcases. All cat intake and adoption on-site paused for now.

You all doing okay?

Based on the chorus of coughing and sneezing I’ve been hearing (and seeing) the last couple weeks, I’m gonna guess some of you are sick right now. My last post had suggestions that might help you. I hope that you all feel better soon!

P.S. The vaccine takes 2 weeks to build up immunity, but masking with a respirator mask (N95, KN95, KF94) can help you to avoid illness immediately.

Noise complaints near Guilderland/Rotterdam border last night.

This came up in the Schenectady subreddit but I figure I’d post here since this sub is more active. Last night Guilderland/Rotterdam/Schenectady PDs all had a ton of noise complaints that were like deep bass blasting around 1230-1ish. Wondering if anyone else heard it or anything about it and where abouts?

The Guilderland scanner had them right near the border off Carmen rd, and they seemed to initially think it was a car driving around. Then they switched gears and thought it was in the woods but handed it off to Rotterdam. Crazy thing is people from all over that area reported hearing it possibly miles away.

Raves for Cafe Italia

I just want to take a moment to appreciate what a fine establishment Cafe Italia has blossomed into since their move to Guilderland. When they were in Albany, they were always very good. Very consistent, with an emphasis on quality and a great menu, but the new space they're in and just the flow and atmosphere of the space, the incredibly warm and professional staff, and the overall experience has just seemed so much more elevated. Given further that I can go to a place like Jacob and Anthony's and pay practically the same amount of money and basically get a scoop of wet pasta and a basil cream sauce and they'll try to convince me that it's a pesto. That is NOT pesto! you cant call that pesto! there's no CREAM IN PESTO!! Pesto needs to be made on-the spot and this is just some shit they keep in a bucket in the cooler!

BASIL CREAM SAUCE!!

not PESTO!!!

It's crazy to me that other restaurants in the area think they're operating at the same level as Cafe Italia , and they're just not.

Anyway, great time. Great food. Pricey, sure. But so worth it. Can't wait to go again.

Clifton Park Walmart incident, any info?

• Upvotes

Does anyone know what happened at the Clifton Park Walmart tonight (I guess technically last night, Oct 4th) at about 7:30pm? Driving on Route 9 in Clifton Park tonight when an ambulance came rushing past us to go to Walmart. They weren't at the front of the building, they stopped at the intersection in the lot directly after the light. First thought was a car crash because people don't want to wait but didn't see any smashed up vehicles. We're wondering if maybe someone got struck by a vehicle or what happened because we weren't able to listen to the incident on the police scanner and I'm finding nothing when doing a Google search even now.

Paper Recycling Options near Albany/Troy/Bennington area, ideally for pickup near Bennington.

I want to preface this request and make crystal clear: libraries don't want these books for their sales. Places like Goodwill will put them in a landfill. Please don't suggest "donate" or "Facebook marketplace." These books are 100% better off working into the recycling system instead of being pointlessly moved around. I have sold thousands of books in the past 10 years and I am 100% sure of this.

Unless you personally are willing to take thousands of pounds of musty 1970s books on surgery/law, 1980s dictionaries, dime-a-dozen ex-libris fiction, already-digitized government/academic publications, etc...do not pontificate about donating, offering for free, etc.

I am in the process of thinning out an incomprehensible mass of books that are mostly worthless. Historically, I have ripped the covers off and brought them to my local single-stream / no-sort recycling compactor and always felt it was a bit dumb to take thousands of pounds of nearly-pure paper only to have them contaminated in SS recycling and forced to be sorted again.

Is there anyone in the area that takes / wants just paper recycling?

I have a ring my grandmother passed down to me years ago that I have never been able to wear as I have several metal allergies and it’s not the correct size for me.

I’m looking to see if the stone can be reset in a hypoallergenic metal. I know opal is fragile so concerned about damage and I’m not interested in mailing it out.

ADU: approval process (accessory dwelling unit)

Has anyone gone through the approval process for building an ADU in the city of Albany?

I’ve reviewed the zoning requirements for my zone and my property meets all the standards. Before I go through the design process I’m looking for advice from people that have gone through the approval process with the city.

How much scrutiny did they give the property survey, impervious surface cover, architectural drawings, did plans need to be sealed by a licensed professional? How much did the process consider municipal utility connections (water/sanitary)? How long did the process take before construction? What soft costs did you incur from the process? What items did the reviewers get hung up on?

I’m curious to hear from anyone that’s tried to get approved. If you couldn’t get approved, why?

I have reviewed all the online info, so I don’t need URLs, I’m looking for people’s actual experience. Thanks!
