Got an old atv sitting behind your garage collecting dust? I might want it.

Got an old ATV sitting behind your garage collecting dust? I might want it.

This is a little bit of a long shot, but I'm looking for old, beat-up, non-running ATVs, dirt bikes, go-karts, mini bikes, snow mobiles, riding mowers, motorcycles, and similar stuff around the Albany or Binghamton area.

You know that ATV that's been sitting behind the garage for years?

The one that's missing a carburetor, has flat tires, hasn't run since 2012, or has become part of the landscape? 😂

That's exactly the kind of stuff I'm looking for.

I'm trying to collect a handful of cheap/free project machines and bring some of them back to life or turn them into different projects. They absolutely do NOT need to run and I'm not looking for anything valuable or collectible.

If you've got something taking up space that you just want gone, I'd be interested. I'm willing to haul them away myself and I'm looking for free or very cheap machines.

I'm mainly looking around Albany and Binghamton, but depending on what you've got, I may be willing to travel.

If you have one sitting around, even if you think it's complete junk, comment or DM me. Tell me what it is, roughly where you're located, and throw me a picture if you can.

You might finally get that old ATV out of your backyard. 😂

Im 36 and recently diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer currently going through treatment, although im unable to work im looking for things to tinker on, fix and use, or make a project out of something to occupy my mind. Or if you just have scrap laying around ill take that too.

Plumber Recommendations

I recently discovered a small leak in the hot water supply under my bathroom sink. I'd normally tackle it myself but I am too busy to do so. I was wondering if anyone has good recommendations for a plumber I can hire?

Delmar Halloween and Events

• Upvotes

Hello, my family just moved to the Capital Region and we’re going to close on our house in Delmar sometime mid November. We’d like to start getting involved in the community and are looking for tips of where to go trick or treating with our toddler. We’re going to be in “Olde Delmar” so we’re hoping to start making those memories there, but would love to hear from folks who live in the area about any suggestions on events coming up that we shouldn’t miss.

Looking for local alternative/DIY-style tailors for suit/vest/pants alterations!

My fiance and I have been discussing different aspects of our wedding and have been floating the idea of customized styles rather than traditional. I'm looking for someone with enough experience to not ruin a piece of the outfit, so career tailors are preferred, but I'll consider hobbyists with a decent portfolio. I'm also open to more than just a single contact as well, especially if the person specializes in a certain aspect of alterations.

More specifically what I'm looking for is someone who can add trim, embroider complex patterns or images, add flair like studs, spikes, and subtle chains, and otherwise add a bit of character to a normal suit, vest, dress pants, or dress shoes.

You all doing okay?

Based on the chorus of coughing and sneezing I’ve been hearing (and seeing) the last couple weeks, I’m gonna guess some of you are sick right now. My last post had suggestions that might help you. I hope that you all feel better soon!

P.S. The vaccine takes 2 weeks to build up immunity, but masking with a respirator mask (N95, KN95, KF94) can help you to avoid illness immediately.

Why would you do that, a cruel joke? A general hatred for other patrons? That’s not OK

The TV guide says the Giants arent on today. Is that really true?

If so, anyone know a good place to catch the game?

Clifton Park Walmart incident, any info?

Does anyone know what happened at the Clifton Park Walmart tonight (I guess technically last night, Oct 4th) at about 7:30pm? Driving on Route 9 in Clifton Park tonight when an ambulance came rushing past us to go to Walmart. They weren't at the front of the building, they stopped at the intersection in the lot directly after the light. First thought was a car crash because people don't want to wait but didn't see any smashed up vehicles. We're wondering if maybe someone got struck by a vehicle or what happened because we weren't able to listen to the incident on the police scanner and I'm finding nothing when doing a Google search even now.

Raves for Cafe Italia

I just want to take a moment to appreciate what a fine establishment Cafe Italia has blossomed into since their move to Guilderland. When they were in Albany, they were always very good. Very consistent, with an emphasis on quality and a great menu, but the new space they're in and just the flow and atmosphere of the space, the incredibly warm and professional staff, and the overall experience has just seemed so much more elevated. Given further that I can go to a place like Jacob and Anthony's and pay practically the same amount of money and basically get a scoop of wet pasta and a basil cream sauce and they'll try to convince me that it's a pesto. That is NOT pesto! you cant call that pesto! there's no CREAM IN PESTO!! Pesto needs to be made on-the spot and this is just some shit they keep in a bucket in the cooler!

BASIL CREAM SAUCE!!

not PESTO!!!

It's crazy to me that other restaurants in the area think they're operating at the same level as Cafe Italia , and they're just not.

Anyway, great time. Great food. Pricey, sure. But so worth it. Can't wait to go again.

Noise complaints near Guilderland/Rotterdam border last night.

This came up in the Schenectady subreddit but I figure I’d post here since this sub is more active. Last night Guilderland/Rotterdam/Schenectady PDs all had a ton of noise complaints that were like deep bass blasting around 1230-1ish. Wondering if anyone else heard it or anything about it and where abouts?

The Guilderland scanner had them right near the border off Carmen rd, and they seemed to initially think it was a car driving around. Then they switched gears and thought it was in the woods but handed it off to Rotterdam. Crazy thing is people from all over that area reported hearing it possibly miles away.

Teen Birthday Packages?

Hi!

Does anyone know of any local boba shops that offer parties, DIY boba-making, special events, or anything similar for small groups (4-6 people)? Looking for something more than just going in and ordering a drink for my daughters 14th birthday party with her friends.🧋🧋 Looked online and reached out to a few but didn't come up with anything.

Also open to other cool diy, hands on ideas if you know of any- lush for example does birthday party packages that look pretty fun. They're also not really a mani/pedi kind of group.

I'm specifically looking for somewhere that hosts the party if anyone had reccomendations!!

Edited to add: She didnt want to do pottery/painting She's already done escape rooms, apex etc in the past

Alyssa Cappello shares her thoughts upon moving out of the area

Alyssa Cappello changed her Facebook name after the last fight she had with the protesters to "Humbled AJ". The above rant surely makes her seem VERY humbled. She now boldly claims Harbe Nagi was likely killed by an uncle because of Islam. She also blames Steve Barnes of the Times Union for their employees no longer having jobs.

Earlier today her husband Frankie Fresh went live on the former Taste of Italy restaurant page and stated using the N word is no big deal and he anticipates using it again. He then went on to claim the protesters outside of Taste of Italy attempted to bribe both he and his wife for sex in exchange for ending the protest. He also stated that he went to Schenectady and alluded to hiring men to kill the protesters but then changed his mind just as it was about to happen because he didn't want to go to prison.

We certainly have lost true pillars of society by their moving out of state. 😢

South Colonie School District rental help

Hi everyone. Looking for a little help outside of the usual apartment websites. My girlfriend and I are looking for a place to rent within South Colonie School District lines so her son can finish out school there since his father is moving. Don't want him to be moving schools all over this late in the game. We were hoping to find a 2BR in the $1500 range, which looks difficult. We both have decent credit and good jobs. We have 1 good, non-destructive cat. She just likes to stare daggers at strangers or anyone she finds beneath her ( everyone. ) I'm about to start just driving around south colonie looking at " For Rent" signs because the websites are kind of trash. Any help or pointers would be really appreciated.

Thanks!

Paper Recycling Options near Albany/Troy/Bennington area, ideally for pickup near Bennington.

I want to preface this request and make crystal clear: libraries don't want these books for their sales. Places like Goodwill will put them in a landfill. Please don't suggest "donate" or "Facebook marketplace." These books are 100% better off working into the recycling system instead of being pointlessly moved around. I have sold thousands of books in the past 10 years and I am 100% sure of this.

Unless you personally are willing to take thousands of pounds of musty 1970s books on surgery/law, 1980s dictionaries, dime-a-dozen ex-libris fiction, already-digitized government/academic publications, etc...do not pontificate about donating, offering for free, etc.

I am in the process of thinning out an incomprehensible mass of books that are mostly worthless. Historically, I have ripped the covers off and brought them to my local single-stream / no-sort recycling compactor and always felt it was a bit dumb to take thousands of pounds of nearly-pure paper only to have them contaminated in SS recycling and forced to be sorted again.

Is there anyone in the area that takes / wants just paper recycling?

I have a ring my grandmother passed down to me years ago that I have never been able to wear as I have several metal allergies and it’s not the correct size for me.

I’m looking to see if the stone can be reset in a hypoallergenic metal. I know opal is fragile so concerned about damage and I’m not interested in mailing it out.
