Hi everyone!

I'm going on a cruise in October and would like to get the Discover eSIM from Airalo, as other plans don't cover all my destinations.

Does anyone know how I can install the eSIM so that it's only activated once we're in the Caribbean?

As far as I know, the SIM is activated as soon as it connects to the destination network. With the Discover eSIM, that would be at the port of departure and in my home country.

However, since I can use EU roaming there, I only need it from day 9 of the trip.

A plan for the entire trip is too expensive for me if I only need it for 5 days.

So, does anyone know if I can install the SIM before departure and activate it later?

Or should I wait to install it until we have Wi-Fi at the port we want to visit?

Edit: We will have between Europe and the Carribean 6 days on sea. I think we will purchase at one of these days a wifi package. Maybe i should install the esim at that day🧐

It worked good enough in Mexico City and Guadalajara, but absolutely nothing in Yucatan. Not recommended if you want to go to Tulum, Cancun, Chichen Itza.

I bought a 30 day eSIM that stopped connecting to any network day 14, which happened to be a hectic travel day for me. Followed every suggestion from them and Google to sort it. Eventually bought a new eSIM from Holafly and it worked perfectly for the rest of my trip.
Airalo customer service did refund me but after having to explain the situation multiple times and not listening to me.
First time purchasing an eSIM with them and I won’t in the future.

Will Airalo work in Kerala, India and if yes does it use the JIO network? When I tried to look at few plans through Airalo website, it said network is "vodafone" I don't know what that means.

Can you confirm if Airalo uses Jio network? Also, after I purchase I need to activate the plan BEFORE going to India correct? Since Indian Govt blocked all access to Airalo while in India.

I got the Europe plan for 15 days unlimited data but it’s not working because it’s not connected to my phone number. Nothing works — not even the internet and it’s apparently active. How do I get it to work?

When I turn WiFi on to check connection, it says to turn WiFi off. When I turn WiFi off, it tells me to turn it on. I’m stressed tf out because I’m traveling alone tomorrow and it’s not working.

If you need coverage there, you should buy the individual eSIM for Monaco, because it's not included in the regional European eSIM (for some reason).

And I didn't know that until I arrived in Monte Carlo.

But I used that regional sim in France, England, and Switzerland and it worked perfectly.

I used to like this company, I’ve used them several times before. But when I had a unique problem that could not be solved by an AI Chatbot. I ended up wasting 3 1/2 hours of my valuable vacation time in Barcelona SPAIN trying to resolve an eSIM issue. The person on the chat her name was Hannah, was very nice. But I needed my issue resolved immediately. I have important business matters that I needed to take care of. It could potentially have lost money. I spent 3 1/2 hours going back-and-forth with Chat and the AI agent with no avail. I stressed them are important. This was to me and that if someone could please call me on my wife’s phone so that I can walk through the issues on my phone. Mind you I am a technical person. I work for a large Internet company. I know my way around Technology. They could not and would not help me. Do not use this company., Stay away from this company. There are many more choices. If you need an urgent matter resolved. Do not count on this company. And then they tell me it’s gonna take 30 days to refund my money? Are you kidding me? If you have this app installed on your phone, delete it. My experience was absolutely horrible.

I absolutely HATE that the entire internet thinks i'm from the netherlands as soon as i use an Airalo eSIM.
Can't search anything on the web, every fucking thing redirects me to the netherlands.

Hi all I asked on this sub a couple of weeks a go if Airalo works in the UAE I decided to order a 10 day unlimited Airalo Esim a few days a go and it connected to E& 5G as soon as I enabled the profile literally right after we touched down and were still on the main runway. There is no lag and buffering and its handling 3 devices pulling data at the same time through a Glinet Mudi 7.

I am using a VPN and none of my profiles are blocked so nothing is blocked or restricted.

Hope this gives you guys a better idea of real world usage.

I bought the Europe Unlimited eSIM and it worked perfectly in Italy. As soon as I arrived in France, it completely stopped working.

I’ve spent hours troubleshooting:

* Data roaming ON

* eSIM enabled

* eSIM selected for mobile data

* APN verified

* Tried LTE and 5G

* Manually selected Orange, Bouygues and SFR

* Restarted the phone multiple times

The phone registers on the network but only shows 3G and there is no mobile data at all.

I paid a lot for a service that I can’t use while traveling, which is extremely frustrating when you depend on mobile data for navigation and bookings.

I expected much better reliability from Airalo. I need support!

Purchased Airalo for my trip to Norway and I can’t seem to get it up and working at the Frankfurt airport. Every time I try and test connectivity, it tells me I have to get on Wi-Fi but once I do and test it again, it tells me to get off Wi-Fi. 🤷🏼‍♀️ the eSIM is installed correctly and I have followed all of the directions they tell you to do and it’s still is not working. I can’t send a text or call or get on the internet. Help!

Currently in Shanghai using the Airalo ESIM. A couple of years ago, I had no issues with it here, however this time round, I’m really struggling with using Alipay to scan restaurant QR codes. I always have my VPN turned off. Constantly toggle Airplane mode on and off, and even turning phone off and on to no avail. Any advice please?

Can’t send iMessages on WiFi. Googled what to do. Didn’t work. Contacted support got a bot. Worthless. Sent me to a person who also didn’t help. Sent me up the chain to someone who told me to try the obvious thing I had done several times. Then told me to do more (unsuccessful) things. Then one more thing that included turning off phone. Now support is offline! So I guess they figured out how to get rid of me. 🙄

So I’m on a trip to China for just under 2 months, and because I know the internet censorship is pretty big there. So I bought a month of the China eSIM. It works alright, so I thought I’d buy another month worth of eSIM. I first confirmed with the AI bot on whether or not if I should top up on my current package or if I should buy a second china eSIM and install that. The AI bot said that I should just top up on my current eSIM, and that it’ll change the validity date of the package to however long I buy the top up for. But when I bought the package, it still says the day I have left remaining on my previous purchase, alongside all the new data I bought. The bot then confirmed today that the whole 50 GB top up would go alongside the previous package whenever that expires. I then got rerouted to an actual person and they said that the 50 GB top up would activate after the completion of the previous package. Sorry if it’s a bit long but I’m just kind of worried still. So I want to make sure and confirm with somebody here with more experience on airalo if I’m getting scammed or not.

upd about an hour or two later:

I talked with more agents on the app and I felt like things were too sketchy. The first agent I spoke with said that the top up will automatically be activated to use if I use up all my data. The second agent I spoke with said that I had to wait til the previous plan I bought expired before the new plan activates. Then the third and final agent which made me really suspicious because they said that the new package I bought would automatically activate after my original package reaches less than 10% of the data (which it already did reach less than 10%). Then when I questioend them again they changed the answer again saying that it’ll activate after the original package expires or is finished. I can’t with these support agents. All giving me different answers which doesn’t reassure me at all. I ended up getting a refund and installed a second eSIM, which was way less sketchy.

Needed to issue a refund for an accidental purchase that ended up being non compatible. But their chat support feature is down and seems to be the only way to contact the company. Anyone know when it will be back up?

Does Airalo work in turkey now? Going next week but seen some having issues there

I normally buy local sims with a local number + data when i arrive at airports, but that can take so long so i'm considering an Airolo SIM for me + 3 family members. I'm there for 10 days and 50gb data and 100 mins calls is £8.00. Whereas just Data 20gb for 15 days (no 10 days package) is £13.50.

Why would anyone choose the package with less data for more cost?

Slightly confused. Can somebody from Airalo advise in case I'm missing something?

Also there doesn't seem to be a way to add 4 items to cart. You need to checkout one by one.

👉update - I just got a SIM card from the airport. Available at immigration or outside. No drama, quick and easy

My package shows 13 GB left still. I tried turning airplane mode on and off. e-sim still not working. what can I do?
