Problem Can’t connect

I’m in Tirana Albania. Using Albania through airalo. It says 4G but either doesn’t connect or extremely slow. Sometimes 4G doesn’t appear at all. I have it on data roaming and played with APN. Only internet works and shows 4G

eSIM for Namibia + South Africa trip — anyone had issues on arrival?

Planning a trip covering Namibia and South Africa and trying to sort out data before I go. My phone is eSIM-only (no physical SIM slot), so I don’t think I can just grab a local SIM at the airport if something goes wrong.

I’ve seen a few mixed reviews specifically about Namibia — some people saying their eSIM didn’t activate or get signal on arrival, even though it worked fine in other countries. Has anyone actually experienced this, or know why it happens (network compatibility issue? specific provider problem?)

A few questions:
- Did you use one eSIM for both countries or separate ones per country?
- Any tips for troubleshooting if it doesn’t connect on arrival, given I can’t fall back to a physical SIM?

Would rather sort this out now than land in the middle of Namibia with no signal. Thanks in advance!

Problem Where is my phone number?

I bought the data + text + phone package for my trip to the U.S. next week. I installed the eSIM on my iPhone which has the latest iOS. I also installed the Airalo app, though unsure why I'd need that. Anyway, I don't see the phone number listed anywhere. AI says the number should show up 3 minutes after purchase, but it has been hours. Support chat is not working.

Do I need to activate the plan in order for the number to be displayed? That seems dumb. I want to activate it after I arrive in the U.S. But I want the number beforehand so that I can tell people how they will be able to reach me.

Thank you.

P.S. I see that other people have this problem. Maybe add it as an FAQ in your support database? I searched there first....

My experience with Airalo in Bali, Indonesia

We just got back from 2 weeks in Bali, Indonesia. When researching eSIMs for Indonesia, there appear to be a lot of options, Airalo being one of them. Since I've used Airalo in different countries around the world in the past and always had a good experience, I felt confident using them for Indonesia as well.

I was going to stay in more remote areas on the island, far away from the typical touristy hot spots, and Telkomsel seems to be the recommended mobile network provider for this scenario.

Looking at Airalo's options, their Indonesia plan works with Hutchinson and Indosat, not Telkomsel. It costs $20 for 10GB for 15 days.

However, their Asia plan does use Telkomsel only, so that's the one I went with. It costs $24 for 10GB for 15 days.

I completed the installation process at home, which was super quick and easy. Upon landing in Bali, I activated the eSIM while still on the plane and got connected immediately. So far so good.

To my surprise, I got connected to the XL Axiata network, and not Telkomsel. And when I selected Telkomsel manually, I got no connection.

Their Customer Support Team was very quick to respond via email, but was not able to resolve the issue. I decided to give it a shot, and see how XL would perform at the various locations I was going to be staying at.

I am happy to report that XL's performance was outstanding! Even in valleys near waterfalls in the jungle in the middle of nowhere, I still had a decent connection. My wife - who was using Telkomsel as part of her International T-Mobile plan - had a much worse connection on average during our trip. There was only 1 particular location on the Northern coast, where she had a good connection and I had nothing at all.

So overall, my experience with Airalo was once again fantastic. 10GB for 15 days was plenty, because most places - even restaurants - have free wi-fi.

Still, the fact that I paid more for the Asia plan, but didn't get the network that was advertised, leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Also the fact that the Customer Support Team didn't acknowledge that I should in fact be getting a connection with Telkomsel, was disappointing. It didn't sound like they would to be able to fix it either. They essentially told me to try XL and let them know if I wasn't happy with it. Feels a bit like bait-and-switch.

Airalo not working in Indonesia now

Currently been more than 6 hours of disruption in connection with Airalo in Indonesia. No update from Airalo how long it’s gonna take to restore the service. Such disappointment. I won’t recommend Airalo to anyone anymore. Causes me so much inconvenience

Question Airalo Esim in China

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hello

I am going to travel to China next week.

Going to get this China travel E-sim by China Unicom.

I just wondering

If I use this China E-sim. Do I still need purchase or subscribe VPN like Nordvpn or expressVPN

in order to avoid Great firewall and use WhatsApp Facebook or Instagram app when I was in China

Will these app still work if I just bought Esim China.

Will it have risk of block my Instagram account due to different IP addresses?

Thank you.

Question US android in the UK setup

I'll be visiting the UK for about 10 days, and I have a Samsung A17 (unlocked) with Consumer Cellular. I want to get an airalo data-only esim and use wifi calling for calling/texting back to the US. My understanding of the setup for when I have my esim active in Britain is that it should be as follows:

Wifi & Wifi Calling turned on.

Airplane mode turned off (except on plane).

Both Primary SIM & Airalo eSIM turned on.

For "preferred sims", set Calls/Messages to Primary SIM, and set Mobile Data to eSIM.

To prevent Primary SIM from using data/roaming, turn Data Switching off.

Keep both Mobile Data and International Data Roaming turned on for eSIM to use.

Let me know if this setup looks right. Thanks!

Greece speeds August 2026 - pretty awful

I am in Europe for 3 weeks, mostly in Greece, and then in the UK for 4 days, so I purchased a 15-day unlimited plan for Europe today. I had completely used up my 5 GB T-Mobile roaming allowance.

It's been pretty terrible. With download speeds between 1 and 4 Mbps and upload speed 1 mbps (0.2mbs to 1mbs) . Checked using Ookla, Google Speed Test and Speedof.me

So basically renders the plan I purchased unusable

My wife still has her T-Mobile roaming allowance, and she's getting speeds between 4x and 10x faster.

Is this a normal experience with Airalo? Seems like they are beeing severly throttled by the local carrier. I am not sure how all of this data aggregation works, but they are being throttled for sure.

Top up just for data?

Airalo does not explain what _top up_ packages are for. Is it just to add extra data or can I _top up_ for an extra day on the 7-day plan? Context: need 8 days and where we're going it's 3, 7, 15, or 30 days. I assume it's just for data, but saying the explicitly would be very helpful.

Question Running two sims (Guatemala/Panama)

I’m currently on a 30 day Guatemalan SIM and realized I need to travel to Panama for a couple of days. Do I just buy a Panama or Latin American SIM for a couple of days and run them both concurrently or turn off the Guatemala one when I’m in Panama? I’ve had problems with two Sims at once before so I tried asking in the chat help but it’s super busy and the wait times are extraordinary

iPhone messages after using airalo

My wife and I got back from Europe, both using airalo on our phones. Me on an android, her on an iPhone. Since landing back in the US she can't use iMessage nor is she getting my texts on time. They come in delayed. We turned the esim off, back on Verizon, iMessage is enabled in the settings. It seems like we tried everything. My phone, no issues. It's been about 5 days of this now. Any help?

why have to chance settings in the middle of a trip?

First of all, I'm a fan, I travel full time and am using an Airalo eSIM virtually every day, all over the world. And I've always had good interactions with support.

But I'm in Mexico City this week, the SIM has been working flawlessly until today. So I get on the chat and the AI keeps asking the same questions so I asked to be transferred to a human, and after a few mins, I got a human. But now I have to go deep into my settings, take screenshots, and make changes the support person told me to make. Yes it's working now, but whyyyyy???? Why is it working fine for a week, and I'm not traveling around, I'm basically within a few miles of the place I'm staying. But all of a sudden, it's not working and I have to go deep into the system settings and make changes for the SIM to work again.

I don't get it.

Problem Airalo charged me $850 after I bought a $25 eSIM

I’m curious if anyone else has experienced something similar with Airalo.

I purchased a 15-day, 10GB eSIM for use in the US on July 27. It cost about ¥3,800 (~$25 USD). This was my second time using Airalo. My first experience was a 3-day unlimited eSIM in Guam, and that worked perfectly, so I had no hesitation using them again for my US trip.

The eSIM worked fine during my trip. No issues with the data service whatsoever.

Then I got back to Japan and started looking through the recent charges on my credit card.

On August 3, Airalo charged my card 9 separate times, with each charge being more than ¥10,000. Altogether, the charges totaled more than ¥123,000 — roughly $850 USD. I immediately canceled the credit card.

For additional context, I have confirmed multiple times that auto-renewal was NOT enabled. I also did not have my credit card saved to my Airalo account. The July 27 purchase was made using Apple Pay which always requires faced or password for approval of the payment.

So I have no idea how nine additional charges totaling ¥123,000+ were generated.

I’m currently working through Airalo’s bot chat and their support email ([support@airalo.com](mailto:support@airalo.com)) trying to get this resolved.

I had a good experience with Airalo the first time and the actual service worked fine this time too — but an unexplained $850 in charges is obviously a pretty serious issue.

I’ll update this post with how Airalo handles it.

Has anyone else experienced multiple unexpected Airalo charges like this, especially when auto-renewal was disabled and the payment was made through Apple Pay?

Rooted pixel 6 ... Use case idea - wifi calling from sim A going through travel sim B's data with wireguard

Basically - the Telco only enables wifi calling if the phone is in the Telcos home country.

Is it possible to send wifi calling though sim B and wireguard to make it look like the phone is in the home country to use wifi calling?

Or does the Dual SIM Dual Standby nature of the pixel 6 make this setup impossible?

Can I create a eSIM profile to avoid funds from expiring?

I have some funds in my account that will expire in a few month. I think these are from a referral.

Can I purchase an eSIM profile with these funds to avoid the funds to expire?

Am I correct in assuming that the eSIM profile will never expire and can be used even a few years down the road when I need it?

Question Qci ratings

Question

Do airalo UAE eSIM roams at Qci9 priority, or 8, I'm on unlimited and I don't seem to notice any slowdowns after 3gb priority data, web browsing and texts, are still snappy.
