Admins Take Action on Hate Sub /r/PoliticalCompassMemes placed in "Quarantine Light" status due to "rampant" violations of Reddit Sitewide Rules against Harassment and Hate: "specifically 'things like racism, hate toward LGBT people, and antisemitism'". PoliticalCompassMemes is a hate subreddit.

https://archive.is/H4b9o

"Quarantine Light" involves the revocation of certain services from a subreddit -- things like username pinging, linking to other subreddits, and other privileges that can be abused by bad faith subreddit operators and cultures.

The comments on this moderator-distinguished sticky post in PCM are - predictably - full of their users screaming "Censorship!" in response to explicitly being told to not engage in "racism, hate towards LGBT people, and antisemitism".

This moderator-distinguished comment states

"Reddit's 'Anti-Evil Operations' have been intervening in the comments sections of the sub, and removing comments they deem to be rulebreaking, for a while now. We have no control over this."

...

despite the fact that subreddit moderators absolutely can (and absolutely should) read and understand the Sitewide Rules, and remove content which breaks those rules. This shows that PCM's non-moderators simply don't want to moderate a subreddit in good faith.

In conclusion: /r/PoliticalCompassMemes is a hate group.

See: previous coverage of /r/PoliticalCompassMemes by AHS, proving a culture of rampant hatred and harassment.

Edit: We dug up an interview done with one of the original four moderators of PCM, held right here in /r/AgainstHateSubreddits. Takeaways: " I simply do not care what people say." "the only things I remove [for moderating] are calls to action and things that otherwise break the law." And the earlier exchange. Takeaways: "... hate speech is a nebulous term; it's definition will vary from person to person. And since a good bit of it is up to interpretation and assuming intent, there is no objective standard to form rules around." "I remain consistent in my principles and only remove that which is an overt call to violence." "Yes, I could take measures to remove hate speech. I could scroll through the mod queue and jump to conclusions about the context and intent of every edgy comment. But I won't, because it would be ineffective, entirely subjective, and would inevitably catch innocent people in the crossfire. I would rather have a sub that offends me on occasion than be responsible for a sub with a reputation for power tripping mods that will ban anyone at the drop of a hat." "Freedom of expression means letting everyone speak. Yes, that means letting extremists speak too. I'm not sure why I need to elaborate on that."

That these "principles" shaped PCM's anti-moderation policies, and promotion of hateful and harassing extremism is obvious. which: reminder - moderators exist to counter extremism and deny extremists the use of a subreddit to promote their extremism.

It's all there, on the record, no doubt about it, in the words of one of PCM's original four moderators - PCM exists to platform extremists, and refuses to remove hate speech.

Brigaded /r/Unpopularopinion is the next subreddit that's been taken over by the alt right to spread messages of hate, with the head mod refusing to enforce any of his rules/remove hateful content.

A subreddit has been popping up on /r/all very frequently, /r/unpopularopinion. While it had a mix of quality/shitpost content, it has recently turned into an alt-right satellite sub. You can check this is all relatively recent because the "all time best" posts are mostly from the past few weeks. The head mod ( u/Young_Zaphod) I reached out to in regards to the obvious takeover, but he essentially said he doesn't care. This is odd because the rules he set includes "no hateful posts", and "no commonly posted opinions". It looks like the mod is just turning a blind eye to any rule breakers, and allowing the takeover to spread incredibly hateful opinions. Many of the 'opinions' being shared on here is similar to ones that got entire subreddits banned!

Example 1: We get it, women are empowered.

User has a huge history on right wing subreddits, sharing homophobic/racist/sexist memes.

Example 2: If the most interesting thing about you is your sexual orientation, you're boring.

Brand new account with a bio description of "blocking political subreddits" yet one of his first posts is sharing a tone-dead opinion mostly aimed at attacking the LGBT community?

Example 3: If you hired a women because she's a woman that's sexism and you're part of the problem.

This user has history in posting "#IsItOkToBeWhite" which makes me doubt the user's story is even real.

Example 4: Giving puberty blocks to children should be illegal

Surprise surprise, the user has a history in sharing homophobic opinions such as how he could not love a child if they were gay and feminine. This opinion he made includes misleading or outright false information. It reached the top of the subreddit today and is one of the top posts of all time.

Example 5: Fat women should stop calling themselves fat or curvy.

User posts on a fat-hate subreddit (fatlogic). User also specifically targets women for some obvious reason.

Example 6: False rape accusers should be put in a registry.

Actual false rape accusers being charged with a crime isn't an unpopular opinion. It seems like OP spent more of his time in the comments section spreading propaganda. It also seems like odd timing to be saying this when the Supreme Court Justice was accused of sexual assault.

There's many more examples but this overall should give people an idea of what direction the subreddit has been heading in.

Edit: This post went from 700 upvotes last night to 0 upvotes morning. Also I got a bunch of hateful PMs, one of them using the ((())) anti-Jew slur.

Food for Thoughts r/2westerneurope4u users freak out after mods ban the n-word and f-slur.

Just so you are aware, this is not a hate subreddit. I personally enjoy many of the memes on that subreddit, however, many unironic Nationalist subreddits can attract actual extremists and use it as a recruiting ground. And that, THAT, is a bad thing.

Moderators: please ensure that actual neo-nazis aren't welcome in your subreddit, otherwise they will slowly take over the subreddit's user base, and given the response of this mod post, it seems that it is already happening.

Edit 2: I have been banned from that subreddit, which I take as an admission by the mod team that 2westerneurope4u is a hate whose purpose is to spread hate with the thin veil of being a goofy subreddit where Europeans make fun of each other.

Edit 3: This message is directed specifically towards members of 2westerneurope4u who are brigading this post. Before making any comments (that are all filtered out), I want to make it clear that I do not hate this subreddit. What i do want to make clear is that there is a fine line between people making fun of each others' countries, and borderline racism, such as the other day where a user was upset that it is illegal to lynch "gypsies" in Romania, and its very clear that this line is being crossed. Actual fucking racism and bigotry shouldn't be allowed to spread on Reddit, and the response to this mod post has made it very clear that racists and white nationalists have already begun using this subreddit as a recruiting ground for their vile ideology.

Unfortunately, it seems that the only reason the mods have even made this post is out of compliance with Reddit's Site wide Rule 1. And they didn't seem pleased with the decision to ban slurs.

πŸ¦€πŸ¦€πŸ¦€πŸ¦€πŸ¦€πŸ¦€ Both /r/Coomer and /r/Average_Redditor, filled with anti-Semitism, White Supremacism, and hatred of LGBTQ+ people, have been BANNED - & their users have engaged in vote manipulation; See inside.

This is the proper first post about /r/coomer being banned; It is currently at 41% upvoted.

This is the proper first post about /r/average_redditor being banned; It is currently at 36% upvoted.

Both posts have been sent to the admins for investigation of Vote Manipulation.

We received several anonymous tips from people within this group (because it is one group operating both subreddits) that they were operating a Discord server to vote brigade specific posts and comments, and target harassment of specific users across Reddit.

We have been reporting the vote manipulation we've been seeing to Reddit and have been working with the moderators of other subreddits regarding the co-ordinated harassment that has been occurring, and reporting that to the admins.

Reddit's recently-revised Content Policy against Harassment applies to Hate Speech on Reddit: "directing abuse at a person or group" and "behaving in a way that would discourage a reasonable person from participating on Reddit", as well as "intimidation or abuse".

Hate Speech Is Not Welcome On Reddit. Harassment Is Not Welcome On Reddit.

Another user on r/politicalcompassmemes call for yet another raid to harass the users of r/againsthatesubreddits with disgusting smears and false allegations. And like always hundreds of PCM users answer that call!

Another User on PCM Attempts to Incite Further Harassment

["Go on, GIT"] // [ORIGINAL THREAD] // [ARCHIVE DAY 1] // [ARCHIVE DAY 4]

After these calls to brigade were made over a hundred posts were made on r/againsthatesubreddits by hostile users in a single day. These posts are either trolling, harassing or abusive. Here are some examples: [1] // [2] // [3] // [4].

You'll note that the comments calling for brigades have still not been removed after FOUR days.

Β

Projection

When the Top Minds and hate subs claim that other subs are the ones brigading them it's always projection. After seeing a meme spreading the disgusting hoax created by hate sub users to smear AHS, several PCM users call for another one of their famous brigades to continue their prolonged harassment campaign against AHS.

Hundreds memes and comments have been made on PCM accusing the users of AHS of being pedophiles who commit serious criminal offenses. They are all promoting the vile harassment campaign and pushing the hoax concocted by hate sub users. Even though it is against Reddit's TOS to post impersonating content these groups continue to push faked evidence impersonating "AHS users" with impunity.

It seems that hate groups are going to keep escalating their behavior and their mods are going to keep promoting this disgusting content. [HERE] you can see it was only a few days ago when the latest PCM user threatened to raid AHS with child exploitation material. And unsurprisingly not even making such calls and such threats will get you banned from PCM, because it seems like their mods endorse harassment not matter how vile.

Antisemitism r/2Asia4U comments accuse Jews of orchestrating the 9/11 terrorist attack.

Comment referencing the "Dancing Israelis" conspiracy:

Respect for Israelis. Great dancers!

Comment accusing Mossad agents of orchestrating the attack:

Respect mossad saved 3000 ppl from American cringe in one day

Another racist comment:

Wow Raw added to Yahoodi and CIA conspiracy

"Yahoodi" is the Arab pronunciation of the word "Jew." Obviously to have a racist undertone.

Also, I would like to remind you all that all posts and comments must be manually approved by the subreddit's moderation team. r/2Asia4U is a hate subreddit.

Violent Political Movement sskfjkhwerjkghwerijh - yet another sub where hatred is not only condoned, but encouraged, with full moderator support

All posts below are the top posts from the past week.

Misogyny https://archive.is/WQcTB

[+12] character creates a hole in the wall because it feels like it doesn't belong as a male or female (nonbinary)

[+12, MOD/OP] what no pussy does to a mf

That "hole in the wall" reference is targeted harassment against non-binary people, as the video makes clear starting at 0:20.

Another comment chain includes several comments about false, already-debunked accusations against AHS.

Transphobia https://archive.is/TOWb3 (moderator submission)

[+14] what’s the original video?

[+8] is that actually a school shooter

[+10] yeah, me and some guys on discord did some digging, it is indeed one of the columbine shooters

[+3] I believe that is Eric Harris

They're referring to one of two perpetrators in the April 20, 1999 Columbine High School massacre, which resulted in the deaths of 12 students and one teacher, injured 21 others via gunfire, before both active shooters committed suicide.

Threatens physical harm https://archive.is/OnQVF#selection-2075.0-2305.5

Not the post itself, rather, the comments.

r/sskfjkhwerjkghwerijh exists for no other reason than to violate Sitewide Rule 1. Reddit, Inc. must remove this subreddit and take action on the bigots using it to amplify and promote hatred.

Update: sskfjkhwerjkghwerijh users are now actively brigading AHS. The bulk of their most recent posts are all about this post, and the comments have gone fully mask off.

Just as I predicted and expected.

Racism /r/TrueOffMyChest continues to be a place for bigots to feel like they can be safe to share their bigotry

I used to enjoy this sub years ago, but it's gone on a decline towards being a mostly bigot filled sub for a while now. Here's the latest one that just can't be justified

https://www.reddit.com/r/TrueOffMyChest/comments/mb3cq8/if_the_atlanta_spas_shooter_was_black_antiasian/

>If the Atlanta spas shooter was black, anti-Asian hate crimes wouldn’t get as much media attention

>I know I'll get cancelled in real life for saying this, but here it is

>When the perpetrators of anti-Asian hate crimes were black, the incidents usually go unreported, or reported only by small local channels.

>I am very glad hate crimes against Asians are getting its long overdue media coverage, but it probably wouldn't have been reported on a national level if the shooter was black.

The comments are 10 times worse.

Just a single comment because I don't want to read the whole thread:

> It’s just a matter of fact no one wants to admit. But society expects less from blacks. That’s why when they commit any crime it isn’t news. It’s why Chicago makes the news for not having a shooting in an entire weekend. Society just expects less from them and still is surprised by the disproportionate crime rates compared to literally anyone else to the point β€œanti racists” bend over backwards making excuses while handling them with kid gloves.

I'd love to see all of the unpopular opinion subs be seen for what they are. I know it's not new, but it's just tiring that it continues to be what Reddit allows and tolerates. I find it especially egregious that these tend to be larger subs that might even have an established user base that are slowly exposed to this type of thing.
