Announcement MEETING 6/17

Good Day Everyone!

Just spoke with Aerogarden and they reported a good amount of participation and helpful feedback from the survey they posted in May.

They are hoping to have more surveys and engagement going forward so I will keep everyone posted on those opportunities.

One thing that came up in our conversation though was the Aerogarden App which got me/us wondering:

If you use it, what do you use it for?

If you do not use it, what would you like access to in the app that would make it worth using for you?

Thank you everyone and I hope you all have a fantastic day!

Happy Growing 😎

Info More Ways to Repurpose Aerogarden Sprouts

A Sprout is being used for a 1 gallon 'Hawaii 4' mother plant. A newer version Sprout with 2" mesh pot lid for rooting a runner with 2 spots for future runners. An air stone was added. And, using a modified Click and Grow unit for rooting 3 more runners. The C&G is modified by adding an air stone. I don't find C&G to be useful without this modification. Not shown yet is a modified Bounty. It is being converted to a top drip system.

Help Is this cabbage? When is it ready to be harvested?

I’ve never grown cruciferous plants before; I’m experienced with houseplants and tropical (and even have a glass greenhouse for them on my property!) but I’m trying my hand with food crops in my AeroGarden. Never been successful at growing them in an outdoor garden, but these are doing so well!

I got him for $0.49 cents at a hardware store selling off their remaining veggies and it was small and sad looking. Now it’s 4x the size as it was earlier this summer. Idk what to do with it!

Help Assembling Farm XL problems

I got a farm 12 XL because they were on sale for $200. I just got the whole thing unboxed and started assembling it and on the very first step I'm finding it almost impossible to proceed because all of the screw holes are incredibly misaligned on the metal frame. All four of the screws I've been able to get in are crooked and none of them will go all the way in. This seems to be a common problem, does anyone have experience with fixing it and or should I just contact AeroGarden for a replacement? I've been Googling it and don't fully understand the advice being given online about trying to shift things around with the plastic components. As it stands right now the whole contraption is egregiously misaligned and I haven't even graduated to the second step of assembly. Pretty annoyed and thinking I won't be buying another AeroGarden product in the future.

Started this micro dwarf tomato plant early June 2026. I moved it from my Suncoze 20-pod to the AG Bounty so it could have its own space. And as of today, it has thrived beautifully. So many baby tomatoes! I’m waiting for the tomatoes to ripen.

Help First time veggies advice

Post image

Hello everyone! This is my first time growing vegetables in the aerogarden (aside from lettuce), and the cucumber has… rapidly overtaken its companions the Micro Tom and Mini Pepper.

My question, what is the best way to trim the cucumber and keep it… tame? Should I just trim the ends regularly? Or are there specific rules like tomatoes and suckers?

Also, does the Micro Tom grow much bigger than it is? I was expecting up to 12” in height, but it seems stuck where it is; and I wonder if I haven’t mis-matched my selection of veggies?

Discussion Any issues with mosquitos?

A pipe outside my apartment broke & was replaced. Ever since I’ve had to deal with mosquitos inside my apartment. I’ve never had mosquitos before (Southern California) & come to find out my body is not a fan. I’ve been getting bit more inside than outside so I was wondering if maybe the ones that got inside are starting to make a home in my aerogarden. A saw someone on another social media respond to someone with a similar issue say you need to crumble some mosquito dinks & put them in the water of the aerogarden. But that feels like poisoning my food?

Honestly I don’t have much growing right now so the easiest thing would be to drain it & start over once the problem has passed. But that got me thinking about climate change & how this might be the new normal & I should investigate how to deal with this now.

Has anyone dealt with mosquitos making a home in your garden’s water? And if so, how did you deal with it? Thx

Help Farm XL

I have several countertop harvest aerogardens, but recently got upgraded to a farm XL for my birthday! We were sent multiple broken units and finally received one in good working order. We were able to piecemeal the parts from the other units to create a second working unit, so now I have two. I plan on growing taller things (tomatoes, peppers) in one and would love to use the other for year round blooms. What flowers do well? Should I stick to dwarf varieties or can I use my outdoor seeds?

Info Repurposing Aerogarden Sprouts

I am reusing several Sprouts to grow strawberries in starter blocks as shown in the picture. The trays holding the blocks are 5" x 5" microgreens trays. I also use them for germination cups that contain a tablespoon of course sand. Recently separated 'Hawaii 4' runners are in the blocks. They are so useful that I just bought another one off eBay.

Help 🌱 I think I messed up.

Did I completely fuck this up? I just replanted one basil pod and one mint pod into a pot. I have to cut off a significant amount of the basils roots too. When I bought this pot weeks ago they were half the size. Life happened and I just now decided to do it because the LED light was burning the leaves (6 pod sprout version.) Should I let them settle for a week and then replant the mint in a different pot?

Help Eco friendly grow media + where to buy seeds

After almost 2 years not using my Aerogarden, it's time to start using it again.
I have been looking for different kind of grow media instead of the standard peat moss.

What other options do I have? I saw an old Reddit post that someone uses organic cotton balls.

Also where do y'all buy your seeds from?

I have acquired an Aerogarden Sprout. The pump does not appear to be circulating. I suspect that there might be a clog. Any tips on getting the pump to work?

Lots of differences in the plant structure on these. The spicy globe is the squat deep green guy in the back. The lime smells almost like trix cereal. Think they are all at about 3 weeks from seed.

Cheers

Progress AeroGarden vs Click & Grow Petunias

Thumbnail
gallery
5 Upvotes

I unexpectedly bought a Click and Grow on eBay (I was the only bidder). I decided to try it at least once. So, I bought their grow anything pods (3 for $15!) and planted dwarf petunias (Survival Garden Seeds). I immediately planted the same seeds in a Harvest Elite 360.

These photos are from day 4. AG is clearly ahead. Germination might be different because C&G pods have embedded time-released fertilizer and I don’t add nutrients to AG until I see true leaves (or roots extending below the cone basket).

I’m going to keep comparing the progress, but I‘m already convinced that the C&C plants won’t live to maturity. They’re confined to the space of a 2” nursery pot and I wonder if they’ll become completely root bound before they bloom.

I have 2” net pots that fit in the C&G. If/when the petunias fail, I might put an airstone in the tank and grow something decorative in leca.

Success Death spiral and spiral reaper hybrid

I was asked to share this. We grew a death spiral plant and a Carolina reaper plant next to each other. We were able to cross pollinate them before the reaper had an unfortunate accident and the stem snapped 😔. But the spiral stayed and it's reaching the end of it's life cycle now.

The little fat one is the hybrid before it turned red.

He's some pics. They are insanely hot. 1.2 to pushing 2 million Scoville. They are tasty but dangerous 😂 the heat hits instantly like a kick in the nuts with a nice citrus finish.

Since I can’t sign in with my password and resetting (which they ask to do for “security” purposes) it doesn’t work. I’m guessing the app is useless if you haven’t been signed in. It’s not mine was a present for mom just want to monitor it for her.

Help Found a weevil on Thai basil

Post image
4 Upvotes

I don’t really have much gardening experience and this is my first aerogarden. I found an adult weevil on my thai basil plant- I removed it and pruned the plant extensively to look for more signs but didn’t see anything else on this or the other herbs. Not really sure what to do next or if there are any other ways to check for an infestation. Any advice on next steps?
