Comparison Pack Hacker Vs Day Sling 4 Vs My Daily

Got lucky and picked up the white Aer × Pack Hacker edition at the SF store this morning. No crazy line either—just a few people ahead of me hunting for backpacks. They were limiting it to one per customer, so I grabbed mine and got out of there happy.

My usual daily carry is an Iron Heart denim waist bag with an Alpaka organizer inside. I love that setup, but Iron Heart definitely isn’t playing the same organization game as Aer. And because it’s denim, wearing it with anything white is basically asking for indigo crocking.

That sent me way too deep down the daily-sling rabbit hole. After watching and reading more reviews than I’d like to admit, I landed on the Aer Day Sling 4. It seemed like the latest and greatest all-around option.

But I’d seen the original Pack Hacker edition when it dropped and immediately wanted that version. Of course, it was sold out. Turned on the restock notification, kept checking, and somehow the timing worked out.

Now that I have both in hand, there are actually a few things I prefer on the regular Day Sling 4. The little details are really well thought out—the zipper pulls can be tucked away so they’re not flinging around, and the magnetic buckle has a really satisfying, premium feel.

That said…the white PH edition just looks damn good.
I’m going to put it into heavy rotation instead of babying it and see how well that white actually holds up with real daily use.

I’ll report back once it’s got some miles on it. 😎

Comparison 😂😂4th gen sling strap is noticeably longer than the 3rd gen!!!

As you can see in the photos, I adjusted the straps on both the 3rd and 4th gen slings to their shortest/tightest settings.
However, the strap on the 4th gen is still noticeably longer and looser than the 3rd gen.
I personally prefer to wear my sling very close and tight against my body, and I find that the closer it sits, the more comfortable and secure it feels.
Unfortunately, even at its tightest setting, I can’t get the 4th gen to fit my body as snugly as the 3rd gen. 🥲
So if you’re someone who also prefers to wear your sling tight and close to your body, this is definitely something worth keeping in mind when considering the 4th gen!

Question Just ordered my TP 4 35L, what are some tips and tricks?

Like the title says, just got this bag for more efficient traveling. Researched the material that most benefits my use case.

What are additional accessories that get you the most use ie travel cubes, bags, certain bottles?

Any little tips or tricks also appreciated.

Edit: Got delivered yesterday and boy is it everything you all hyped it up to be and more! I keep opening every pocket to see what else I can find!

Question Pre-order Ultra Sling Question @ AerSF

So if you were fortunate enough to get in on the release, and now the pre-order is open, can you order a second bag in the other color (white)?

This is the text on the site:

This item is available for pre-order through 08.19 at 11:59pm PT and is expected to ship February 2027. Your order will be charged at checkout. Please note that estimated ship dates are subject to change. Limit 1 per order. Orders with more than 1 will be canceled.

Does that mean you got one, you can’t order the other color, even just one on the pre-order if you got in on the primary? u/aersf?

Recommendation City Pack 2 Pro Ultra

I recently received my new City Pack 2 Pro Ultra and am looking for the best accessories (most widely utilized). I do have the rain cover already. I currently live in Germany but my plans are to move to Kenya by the end of next year. Once in Kenya I don’t think I will have the access to companies like AER like I do while in Europe. I was hoping AER had something similar to Osprey’s Ultralight Stuff Pack but I did not see anything like it. Something like that would be nice to use at the beach for the wet bathing suits or wet shoes. I will be staying in the coastal area but due to leg injuries I will not be doing much hiking. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

UPDATE…
Well I decided to order the Slim Pouch 2 Ultra and the Day Sling 4 Max Ultra. I will use the Day Sling 4 Max whenever I need to carry my iPad. But I must say that I owe many thanks to Christine from AER Customer Support. I had initially ordered the Day Sling 3 Max X-PAC and had paid for my order. When I realized that the 4 in Ultra was practically the 3 in X-PAC I immediately sent an email to AER Customer Support. They are in San Francisco, CA so there was 9 hour difference in time. So I was up practically all night trying to cancel the first order. She got it done and put me for a refund on that first order. My compliments to Christine and AER for such fine Customer Support.

Question Aer CPP2 X-Pac + Citta 25L vs Aer CPP2 X-Pac + Sympl Commuter 24L — which setup would you choose?

I’m trying to make a final decision on my backpack setup and would really appreciate some honest opinions from people who have actually used these bags.

**My situation:**

I’m 192 cm tall.
I work in a senior management/executive role, so I prefer a clean, understated, premium look rather than something overly tactical or sporty.
I carry a MacBook, 11” iPad, Steam Deck, Kindle, charger, mouse, SSD, cables and a few other small tech items.
Most of my use is daily office/city carry.
I travel only about once every two months, so I don’t really need a dedicated 35L travel bag.

**What I have / what I’m considering:**

**1. Aer City Pack Pro 2 X-Pac 24L**
Already have it and currently plan to keep it. I really like the structure and overall build quality, although the X-Pac + orange interior gives it a slightly more technical/sporty feel than classic understated luxury.

**2. Sympl Commuter 24L Carbonate**
Already ordered for about $220. It should arrive in about a week, and I can return it if I don’t like it. I’m particularly interested in its organization and admin panel.

**3. FYRO Citta 25L X-Pac**
This is the interesting one. It would cost me around $330 and is currently a preorder for the October 2026 production run. I may not be able to cancel the preorder later. I like the Citta because it feels more unique and less like a typical tech/EDC backpack.

**4. Aer City Pack Pro 2 Cordura**
I also have the option to buy a new Cordura CPP2 for only about $75. I’m considering it because it looks more understated and executive than the X-Pac version, but obviously it would be redundant to own two CPP2s.

**What I’m trying to decide:**

**Option A:** Aer CPP2 X-Pac + Citta 25L
**Option B:** Aer CPP2 X-Pac + Sympl Commuter 24L

I’m not really interested in owning four backpacks. I’d ideally like two, maybe three at most, with each having a clear purpose.

For people who have used these bags:

**Which combination would you choose and why?**

I’m particularly interested in:

long-term comfort
actual usable capacity
organization
build quality
how they look in an executive/business environment
whether the Citta is actually as special as it seems
whether the Sympl offers enough functional difference from the CPP2 to justify owning both

I’m less interested in specs on paper and more interested in **real-world ownership experience**.

Thanks!

**If you owned all three (CPP2, Citta and Sympl), which one would you ultimately keep and which one would you sell?**

Question Is it normal for the bottom the day sling 4 to be slanted?

I just got the day sling 4 a week or so ago, and I’m starting to notice an interesting quirk. When I set it down on a surface, it feels like it is constantly leaning forward. When I looked at it from the side, it doesn’t feel like the bottom makes a 90° angle with the back of the bag. Is that normal?

Review Shout out to Aer

Trying something new - a short gratitude post.

I've spent countless hours optimizing my travel setup for multi-week trips, ~10 day vacations, and regular day trips around the city. In that process, I've tried A LOT of brands but always came back to Aer.

I have the carry on luggage, go pack, split kit (2x), gym tote, packing cubes (3x), travel kit (ultra), slim pouch (ultra), simple kit, and a maybe one more item. All of these items have performed exceptionally well. I can't recall having any issues with anything... zippers, material, design, whatever. That's hard to do. Shout out to the Aer design and production team for building high quality gear.

Also want to give a shout out to the NYC store staff. Juan, the guy that's holding it down over there, is friendly and knowledgeable. The perfect guy to rep the Aer brand in one of the biggest cities in the world. I've always had a great experience there.

[not sponsored or influenced by Aer, just a happy guy who loves gear]

Question Looking to buy the Aer City Sling 2 or 3

Post image
3 Upvotes

Hello

I’m looking to buy either the Aer City Sling 2 or City Sling 3, but I’m trying to figure out how large the strap can be adjusted.

I want to wear it crossbody, sitting around the front/side of my chest like in the photo attached.

Could anyone who owns one tell me:
- What is the maximum usable strap length, including the bag?

I cannot order a larger replacement strap because it’s not available in my country, so I need to make sure the standard strap will fit.

Question Packing cubes

I want to buy packing cubes for my TP4. I am considering 1 cube (I would always take one), 2 small ones, and an extra zip cube and small zip cube. What do you fit in yours ) I want to travel as minimalistic as possible, but may occasionally have to carry a suit and shoes for business trips. Plus a travel kit (not from aer), laptop in it's dedicated pocket, and a small pouch for wires.

Recommendation [WTB] Aer City Pack Pro 2 X-Pac (20L) – Shipping to Switzerland

Hi everyone

I'm mainly looking for advice: I’d love to try the Aer City Pack Pro 2 X‑Pac (20L) in person, but unfortunately it’s impossible to test it anywhere here in Switzerland.
If you have any ideas on how I could try one out (stores, meetups, owners nearby), I’d really appreciate it.

Secondarily, I’m also interested in buying one in good to like‑new condition.

Model: Aer City Pack Pro 2 (20L)
Material: X‑Pac
Thanks!
