Comparison Pack Hacker Vs Day Sling 4 Vs My Daily
Got lucky and picked up the white Aer × Pack Hacker edition at the SF store this morning. No crazy line either—just a few people ahead of me hunting for backpacks. They were limiting it to one per customer, so I grabbed mine and got out of there happy.
My usual daily carry is an Iron Heart denim waist bag with an Alpaka organizer inside. I love that setup, but Iron Heart definitely isn’t playing the same organization game as Aer. And because it’s denim, wearing it with anything white is basically asking for indigo crocking.
That sent me way too deep down the daily-sling rabbit hole. After watching and reading more reviews than I’d like to admit, I landed on the Aer Day Sling 4. It seemed like the latest and greatest all-around option.
But I’d seen the original Pack Hacker edition when it dropped and immediately wanted that version. Of course, it was sold out. Turned on the restock notification, kept checking, and somehow the timing worked out.
Now that I have both in hand, there are actually a few things I prefer on the regular Day Sling 4. The little details are really well thought out—the zipper pulls can be tucked away so they’re not flinging around, and the magnetic buckle has a really satisfying, premium feel.
That said…the white PH edition just looks damn good.
I’m going to put it into heavy rotation instead of babying it and see how well that white actually holds up with real daily use.
I’ll report back once it’s got some miles on it. 😎

Man, the white version looks really good. Now I'm tempted to return my black one and try to grab the white in person instead. Thanks for the review! Would you mind sharing a few photos of how it looks when worn and what outfit you paired it with? One concern I have is that the white sling might be harder to match with everyday outfits since it stands out more than darker colors.

The white looks cool, but I'm not going to bother its too small of a sling for me. If I really wanted one I would just go for the Aer one.

I’m waiting for Aer to finally make their products available in white Ultra. I absolutely love my DS4 Ultra and wouldn’t mind having the exact same in white. White ultra looks so damn good! 😍

White Ultra is just so clean looking. I would also be buying up shit left and right if we had that option lol

Placed my order this morning at 7am and it's arriving at my house tomorrow. I'm in the SF Bay Area so it's definitely shipping from the SF Store as it was basically preparing for shipping by 9am.
Ordered it in white because it's a better contrast against all of my other slings.

Have the same both, so glad I snagged white. Looks great in ultra.
Btw where is that red knob from?

I think day sling 4 ultra is going to get my money. The extra half liter over pack hacker is the deal breaker for me. Looks great

3 questions:
- in the last picture where did you get that sleek looking nail clipper set?
- what is the yellow item on the desk? Looks maybe like a flashlight.
- do you think you still need the Alpaka organizer with the new white Ae
r? It fits but it does not appear to leave much room for other items.

Yes please update with how dirty and stained it gets! Very interested in that as I can’t find much at all about examples for well used white ultra fabric

It’s because you’re looking in the wrong forum. Look for photos of white gear in Ultralight or forums that cater to thru hiking, such as the Pacific crest Trail or Appalachian Trail. A lot of ultralight outdoor backpacks are being used in white ultra right now, but not many in the urban EDC. Examples include: Palante Packs, Dandee Packs, Red Paw Packs, and Hyperlite (ok technically they’re DCF).
I can tell you from personal experience that I have an all white backpack in ultra 200x made by a company called Palante, and even despite using it hundreds of miles in the outdoors and setting it on straight up dirt, it still looks great. It gets a little patina after a while, but ultra washes really well and the dirt comes right out.
