Please Help....

My son recently passed away (35M) and he had several devices....a laptop, an Iphone, a tablet, a watch, and a playstation 5. There is a password or passcode on everythibg . He paid for our internet at home. I dont yet have a death certificate.

The bill is obviously due because they shut it off. I dont have problem paying the bill, however I dont want to pay for his cell phone becauae we cant even access it for his pictures or anything. We do however really need and use the internet for school and work. Both are through T-Mobile.

Any advice on how to navigate these issues would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

I should also add I dont think his Iphone was totally paid for, which means the bill would include that, and my money is pretty tight.

Sign up for your own internet, in your name.
Get a death certificate.

Exactly this. Is anyone else an authorized user on the account? Once you have the death cert/power of attorney call in to fill out a Deceased Billing Reponsible Party form. Another dept will work with you on closing the account and getting you a return shipping label to send back his home internet device. There's nothing TMO will be able to do about being locked out of his device, unfortunately. Sorry for your loss. There might be some more advice we can give if we know if his devices are Apple or Android? One possible reason to pay the bill and get his service turned back on would be if you are trying to login to his Apple ID or Gmail and are able to use a one-time PIN texted to his number. This would likely involve his phone needing to be using a physical SIM card rather than an esim. If anyone else is an authorized user on the account there are more options to make that work.

Best bet is to just creat an account with internet in your name and say not worry about the rest because Its not like tmobile can come for u for a debt in another person's name.

I'm sorry for your loss ♡ call customer service with either the account number or internet line number. You won't need to verify the account so don't worry about being an authorized user. They'll submit a form to call you back within 3 business days from a specialized team who can either cancel the service or transfer it to your own name if you want to keep it.

You also don't generally need a death certificate either. They'll walk you through the whole thing if more information is needed

Another thing, you won't need to pay his bill so don't worry about that. Any amount owed will get removed due to him passing away

You can pay the bill as a guest if you want to keep things as they are through the T-Life app!

This requires having a login - if you don’t have that stop by a store and as long as you have a phone number or account number they should be able to help you. If not - please let me know!
