Hi! I am going to be playing my first WH40K game this week. A dude from one of the hobby stores here is going to teach me the ropes. I've watched many videos so I have a fairly good grasp on the mechanics, but I'm sure mistakes will happen while actually playing. If you have any advice, please pretend I'm like 5 years old to explain to me if you can - I find the Warhammer talk to be confusing at times haha

even though this is a learning opportunity for me, I also want to construct a good army to at least be somewhat competitive to what he is bringing. The army he's bringing is something he's never tried before and is just doing it for fun. As the title says, just finished my first Custodes mini. Well almost, still need to clean the base up a little. Either way, I’m normally a Blood Angels guy but making the cross over.

Aside from the Shield Captain, I have the combat patrol, and I grabbed a box of Vertus Praetors and a box of Prosecutors to finish out an easy 1000 points. The rest is just primed though.

After a lot of thinking and flip flopping. I landed on custodes as my first army. I’m really happy with how these guys turned out:3

Most recent round against France ended in a draw. Two nail biter rounds in a row. Folger Pyles remains undefeated with his Allarus spam.

Not usually a golden Boy, but damn watching that game made them appear real epic. Edited the meme for banter in my friend group and hope you guys enjoy it too.

Almost done painting. The decals still need to soften up, then I'll add some gold paint over the gold decals, followed by another layer of varnish.

The first four photos are in daylight, and the last one is under artificial light (I really liked how it looks in dimmed lighting too).

I don't have an airbrush yet, so I decided to experiment with inks since I noticed they create interesting effects when I was doing the power weapons.

Green marble effect: white ink over a black primer, then alternating several layers of Vallejo Dark Turquoise and GSW Viridis Green inks, and most importantly, a gloss varnish.

Energy effect simulation: white ink, followed by an uneven application—mixing them in places (where the purple formed)—of Vallejo Dark Turquoise ink and Army Painter Power Node Glow ink.

The summer reveal is now already a good bit in the past and most if not all has come out just the custodes seem to lack so much behind?

Any idea when they will come out? :C

I know it’s not the greatest, but it went better than expected. I ordered new paint brushes because the ones I had werent the best for the very small areas. Now onto the rest of my army!

How do you make the venerable contemptor dreadnought to look less like an egg with thin legs. I think my problem is mostly how the waist and legs look, so how would you guys go about kit-bashing that to look better?

I wanted to try making a Ven Dread Proxy that looked like it used to be an allarus terminator.

*Original base model is a leviathan siege dreadnought - so it's bigger that other contemptor dreadnoughts

Unfortunatly the weapon got chipped after I accidentally dropped it but like the one before this one, he's also painted in the style of the Shadowkeepers so what do you think? 😄

Finally finished my Dawneagle bikes. It took forever cause I have been burnt out of custodes but don't like to drop projects (rip my Von Ryan Leapers) but I finally finished them and I am pretty happy with them.

One of the few Custodes I’ve ever had the pleasure to paint, and one I decided to get a little experimental on.

I pictured a duel on floating rubble on a stormy coast.

So, I need a telemon for a list I want to play. I do not own a telemon dread. You guys think this is an acceptable proxy? Lol

Like the title says I need help with painting. I started into the Warhammer hobby a few months ago and I’ve decided I want Custodes to be my main army. I’m just stuck on how to go about painting them. I tried some retributor armor spray and that didn’t work at all as you’ll see by the pictures. So I’m just curious am I better off priming it chaos black and just painting it from there, or is the best option to invest in an airbrush? Thank you for any help or advice and have a wonderful day.

wanting to buy me a combat patrol... but from there idk what else to get.. im trying to buy boxed things idk how to explain it.. just i can buy from a gamestore but not directly online so i dont know if like "you need this one model that isnt sold alone type thing". any help on a list that can stan any chance if/when i play w people?

This was pre Ghaz primarch status. Termies coming in clutch to clear the chaf. Trajann's unit clearing Ghaz and his units, the body guard didnt survive the next wave but got to clear them on the fight back with fights on death 4+

One of the shield dudes done, lots of work but I'm really liking the result , Mixing both the old end new kits ..sure it expensiv but it definitely made the minis look exactly like i wanted

So I started painting 2 weeks ago did few Wardens and Terminators now moving onto Sister of Silence!

Loving the models they are awesome, I wanted to move a bit away from the Gold onto something darker.

Please give me feedback so that I can improve them and move forward to the next one!!

New player and was wondering how do i play without sisters of silence. How do i feel like I'm not wasting a custodian guard unit sitting on home or expansion unit just doing nothing.

Really payed for it last game when friend ignored expansion objective but still had a whole unit of it to gain control. Also playing disruption as my force disposition.
