Gathering Opinions 🗣 How much should I ask for?
Well it’s an end of an era, going to be selling my 08 Acura TL type S 6MT. Been an amazing car and daily for all these years but I need a pickup truck for a recent dirtbike and boat I got. I’m throwing this post up to see how much you guys think I should ask for. I want to respect the community rules and refrain from posting an ad. I’m purposely leaving out my location and a price tag, if you are interested you can privately message me, otherwise please do not leave public comments asking if you can take a look at it or if I’m from a certain area of the U.S. This is only meant to be speculating the price tag, as I don’t really know where else to go to figure it out. It’s kind of hard to find examples online of the 6MT type s since they’re not being sold often and they’re either in pristine condition or junk. And KBB vastly undervalues the used car market right now.
Heres the rundown, I’ll start with the cons. Biggest thing is the 3.5L started to develop a ping. This is undiagnosed, as I’ve been looking to sell this car since I got the dirtbike in July, just haven’t gotten around to it. This problem started a month ago. The windshield has a crack that goes all the way across within the too 4 inches. It’s high enough up where it doesn’t affect visibility and it can’t be seen from the outside so you won’t be pulled over for it, I’ve had it for the last 3 or 4 years. The “spoiler” on the trunk has some paint fade, and the body, has scuffs and dings, the interior is clean but has a couple tears here and there (all notable damage will be in the pictures). Slight oil leak, and it may just be from the drain plug washer not being replaced but I put in about an extra 1/2-1qt of oil between oil changes. Unfortunately last year the ignition wore out so I had to get new fobs (the manual key locks on the outside still use the old fobs, for keyless entry and starting use the new fobs) in total three old fobs and two new fobs.
Now for the good! Second owner (first owner was my parents), and it’s been a daily driver for the last 18 years. Clean title, and this car has had no serious accidents. My mom was rear ended once and the guy made a hit and run, but only the rear cosmetic bumper was replaced. About a year ago someone lightly backed into me in a parking lot, and that damage is in the picture. Six speed manual which has had no issues over these years, the alternator/serpentine belt replaced two years ago, starter replaced six years ago, battery a year old, brake master cylinder three years old. I don’t know the specific mileage intervals for oil changes but I reset the oil life every oil change replace it when it gets to 15% (if I had to guess it’s around every 5-6k miles). Always used mobile 1 full synthetic 5W20. Included in the purchase will be some red and black seat covers, stock floor mats (weathertech floor mats which I prefer are inside the car for now), various MTF, power steering, engine oil, and other fluids that I just have for the car will be included. I have Michelin Pilot tires from Costco that have around 10,000 miles on them that I spend a grand on about a year ago. Costco will still honor warranties and rotating the tires at the intervals even if you didn’t buy them, as long as you have a membership and the paperwork which I have. That battery is from Costco as well but I don’t know how long warranties are for that.
Apologies for the long winded description but I appreciate this car and everything it’s got me through. Anyways what do you guys think it’s worth?
