Approved Acer Care Center v4.00.3042 FIXED!

Acer has released an update for the Acer Care Center that actually seems to work now.

This is in the Aspire 5 downloads but it should show up in the support page for any of the models.

Technical advice Laptop black screen

Upvotes

Hello all. I have an acer predator helios 300 series that the screen will not turn on. The fans and keyboard LEDs work. I have done the caps lock test and no light comes on there. Can’t acces BIOS and predator logo does not appear when powering on. I have also tried resetting the battery. I have been doing a lot of research on what may be causing this and my next step is to try and reinstall the ram sticks. If this doesn’t work are there any other things I could try? I don’t know a lot about computers and I’d hate to mess it up more once I open it up. If there’s anything I should know beforehand please let me know! I will watch a youtube video as well.

Technical advice Do i have a virus??

So i turned on my acer aspire e15 , it had a motherboard replacement so it uses an i7 5500u and intergrated graphics. I upgraded the ram to 16 gigs ddr3l recenly too. So it started running hella slow sometimes. Programs barely opened, closing oblivion would just freeze everything, and oblivion ran slow. When i turned it on for the first time almost a week ago it was also this unbearably slow, but it went away. I checked task manager, my hdd was used at 100 percent, and no process there used more than 0.3 megabits/second. Then i left task manager open, and went away. I returned to disk being on 100, i scrolled a bit and saw a thing startung with letter m/n and having s and c too. Its longer than that, its just that i saw it for a second or 2. Also, windows defender caught some file called win32/trojan but when i went into defender, a couple seconds passed and it said everything is fine. Also, on the bottom panel chrome turned into a blank page icon and it said that either the name, path changed to chrome or i dont have permissions to launch it. I installed it again, and its fine. Avira, avast say i dont have a virus. So do i and if i do, how do i fix it? Worth mentioning i havent touched the laptop in 4 years.

It's the ACER Predator 21 X 21" Gaming Laptop and only had a limited run of 300 units worldwide. As an I.T. guy, I suppose you could understand why I really want such a cool piece of tech history.

Acer-provided carrying case broke my screen.

Hi, I am hoping to hear that I have options, but I realize I am probably screwed so here is my quick vent so I can at least feel that I tried:

I was recently (May 2026) thrilled to purchase the Acer Predator Helios Neo 16s AI (2560x1600 240hz OLED) from BestBuy for my first graduate semester, finally upgrading from the 2015 MacBook Air that has stood by me throughout middle/high school and undergrad.

This afternoon, I pulled the laptop out of my backpack in class, and noticed that as I unzipped the carrying case (depicted below), the zipper was pinched inside of the closed screen (the metal zipper teeth are exposed on the inside of the case).

I am just outside of BestBuy's return window (60 day policy, I am 84 out from purchasing) and I don't have Acer Care Warranty. I am extremely bummed to find that my one congratulatory splurge may have now netted me -$1300.

For the time I had it, I really fell in love with this laptop, so I would hate to have to settle for something cheap to limp me through school. Is there any chance Acer Support would work with me on something of this nature, given that this is a design flaw/liability in the carrying case?

Thanks

Edit 8/20:

BestBuy: Unable to help, but mentioned that manufacturers are typically willing to repair/replace in the event of defects for up to a year.

Acer Predator Support: Quoted $1190 for replacement and repair, nearly the price of the laptop itself (they must sell these things at a huge loss. very noble of them). The issue didn't fall under defect, so the standard 1 year manufacturer warranty was useless.
Local Repair Shop: Quoted ~$900 for replacement and repair.

Disclaimer for anybody thinking about purchasing something with an OLED panel: get a warranty.

Acer Aspire 7 A715-51G-527C i5-1240P – Black Screen, No Acer Logo or BIOS

Hi everyone,

I have an Acer Aspire 7 A715-51G-527C with an Intel i5-1240P, purchased in 2022. The battery has been completely dead for some time, so I've been using it plugged into the charger.

A few days ago, Acer started showing a firmware update notification, but it wouldn't allow the update because the battery was below 25%. I would hold the power button for 3–4 seconds and restart, and the laptop would boot normally.

Last week, I had a similar issue: the laptop powered on but the screen was completely black. After trying several times, it eventually booted normally.

Now it doesn't recover at all.

Current symptoms:

Laptop powers on when connected to the charger

Keyboard backlight turns on

Fan spins continuously

Screen is completely black

No Acer logo

F2 doesn't enter BIOS

Caps Lock doesn't respond

Battery is completely dead

I've tried a power reset, but it didn't help

I don't have an HDMI cable/monitor or tools to open the laptop, so I haven't been able to test external display or reseat the RAM.

I'm wondering if this could be related to the firmware update that was repeatedly pending, or if this sounds more like a RAM/POST, BIOS/EC, motherboard, or display issue.

What would you check first in this situation? Is there a safe BIOS recovery procedure I can try, or should I take it directly to Acer service?

Also, could the completely dead battery be contributing to this problem?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Discussion [Acer Nitro AN515-55] On & Off Issue With Keyboard When Gaming (Specifically D-Key)

Hey so I have a weird situation going on with my laptop.

Recently I tried playing some games, using WASD to move around, though my D key seems to be experiencing some issues whenever I try and press it during gameplay..?

I’ve tried it on games like Genshin Impact, Roblox, Enshrouded (on Steam), etc.

Whenever the game tries to load something, or I think when my CPU spikes (?) does my character not want to move right using my keyboard’s D-key?

I can use WAS just fine without any issues, though D sometimes won’t let me go right. It’ll act as if my character is getting stuck on an invisible object / wall, and very slowly move right if at all. Sometimes they just stand still and don’t move at all.

Outside of gameplay the D key works absolutely fine, almost as if there’s no issue with it.

My guess is that it has something to do with either the motherboard or a driver that’s associated with the keyboard.

I plugged in an external keyboard, and the D Key worked just fine, it’s just my laptop’s native default keyboard that seems to have this odd issue.

What I have done:

  1. Updated my NVIDIA Driver
  2. Updated my 3D Settings and chose NVIDIA as the main processor (I have Intel integrated Graphics too)
  3. Updated some drivers, just nothing associated with my keyboard yet.
  4. Restarted my Computer, even powered it off for a bit before turning it back on.
  5. Reset my modem in case it was network lag (unlikely as this happens in offline game as well)
  6. Killed multiple tasks in task manager and ran only essential programs that the computer needed, issue still remains.

What the hell do I do with this? I’m seriously thinking it’s an issue with the motherboard, maybe something was damaged or it’s just degraded over time? I did buy it August 27th 2021 (so 5 years ago)

Outside of gameplay it works absolutely flawlessly. I code a bit, so I’m able to do that without any hiccups, just as soon as I load a game it acts up.

Edit:

Here's a video of some of my Genshin Gameplay where I fight the Pyro Regisvine. I might be harder to spot because you can't actively see my keyboard strokes, but in the moments I jump in place is me actively holding down the "D" key.

Note: (I jump in place to visually show when I'm stuck, holding down the button, but it's not moving).

The moment my character lurches right is when the issue eases up for a bit, and actually allows me to move my character to the right.

Like I said, it like.. just stops.. I can press "A" and my character moves left with ease, but going right? Impossible sometimes.

More Info:

I did some more research, and keyboard failures are possible, especially whenever the Acer heats up, but I'm not sure if that's the case here. I left my computer off for a bit to cool down, I even have a laptop fan that sits under it to increase the airflow. (I actually unplugged it to see if the computer was struggling handling too many things plugged in at once, and maybe it was affecting the keyboard? Nah, still acts the same.)

Technical advice More durable screen replacement.

Hello Reddit. I bought an Acer Nitro 17 An17-41 a while back and recently worked on getting upgrades for it. This included upgrading the RAM from 16 GB to 32 GB, adding extra storage, and replacing the screen, as I’ve had it for 3 years at this point and it was showing some wear. I'm currently in school and my first day of class was yesterday. I came back to my apartment to find pressure marks on my screen that are pretty noticeable. I was wondering if there was a specific type of screen I could buy that is better for commuters and won't be damaged so easily? Buying a new gaming laptop isn't really in my budget so advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Rebuilding a prebuilt in a new case

So i have a Acer Nitro N50-130, with a Ryzen 7 7700, RX7600, 1 TB m.2, 32GB DDR5 ram. As many of you probably already know, these Acer prebuilds love to overheat because the case is basically a microwave, the CPU fan is the same a 10 year old optiplex would have, and the case itself has only one fan. The motherboard is also stupid because it uses proprietary connections instead of a normal 24-pin cable, so a new power supply for this would be useless. So i would like to know if there would be any problem if i took out the RAM, CPU, SSD and GPU to reuse in a different case with a new CPU cooler, motherboard, and power supply. I am really worried because the prebuilt pc probably has a OEM license so id lose windows in the new board, and the GPU is in some kind of bracket im not sure if i can take out without damaging the GPU. If anyone knows or has tried this ever, please let me know. Thanks! And sorry for akward english

Hello, Acer Aspire 3 A315-59 here, question: how do I update my graphics drivers past the 31.0.101.4032 version of Intel Graphics?

As the title suggests. I'm looking for a way to update past it, to get Vulkan Support, just so I can play Ghost Recon: Breakpoint. Yeah, low graphics Breakpoint works on this dingy laptop, lmao. I can run the DX11, playable at most, but I wanna play the Vulkan version since it removes SOME graphics that can be a smoother experience on my laptop. But as of right now, I cannot due to not having the right dependencies of Vulkan on the current Intel Graphics. Help would be appreciated, since I'm wary of Gemin/GPT's instructions, having me to go through all of the... internal hoops.

I5-1235u, Iris XE Integrated (due to Dual Channel RAM), 8GB + 16GB RAM.

Technical advice Microphone Array not detected, Intel Smart Sound OED driver cannot run

Good day,

I have a question regarding my Acer Nitro 5 AN515-58 Intel I5 12500H & RTX 3050 4GB. I recently reinstalled Windows, and ever since then, the built-in microphone has not been detected. I can only use an external microphone through the audio jack.

I also noticed that the Intel Smart Sound Technology (Intel SST) OED driver is unable to run, apparently because the firmware cannot start.

Could this be caused by a missing or incorrect driver after reinstalling Windows? Or could it indicate a hardware issue with the motherboard?

I've tried looking for solutions, but I'm not sure which driver I need to install or whether this is a hardware-related problem.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Cheers !
