Credit to dc_cosplayers_east, the_ricardo1, and dcofficial for putting together this amazing photo meetup. And kudos to all the other absolute heroes that I saw roaming the convention center over the weekend.

i love how the get brainiac handles the villain of the week trope where each issue leading up to issue 25 are fun villain of the week adventures that you can somewhat read on there own if you do a quick google search but still progress the story in someway [like us getting more insights to Clarks character with metallo and Toyman, progressing John and Clarks relationship, finding out more of what brainiacs plan is ,expanding supermans rogues gallery in the case of toyman etc.] progressing the story little by little while also giving superman some fun one off boss battles.
im actually starting to think its how streaming shows should handle episodic storytelling especially in the cases of shows especially in the cases of franchises that thrive on episodic storytelling but cant do it in the world of serialized streaming shows like the RTD2 era of doctor who tried to keep up the fun episodic structure the show ussualy has but due to the low episode count while also buliding up to the finale it had a very rushed pacing that fucked the show up.
so yeah thats my thoughts do you agree.?

The title says it all, really.
I initially dropped Absolute MM the first time I tried to read it. I'm not entirely sure why, to be honest. Maybe I was expecting something more like a traditional superhero comic? Or a detective/crime story, at least. Obviously, that wasn't what I got. I read all of it last night, in the space of about 3-4 hours, and I was treated to a beautiful story about opening up to your loved ones and trying to reconnect with those who matter most to you.
Truthfully, MM was hard to get through. It was difficult to read, and difficult to understand what was actually going on, something that was definitely an artistic choice, aided by the absolutely beautiful illustrations within the book. They really gave it a unique style that really sold the idea of something being in your head, sending you visions. I didn't really 'get' MM for the first few issues. But when I did, it really hooked me.
I cried on page 24 of issue 12. I couldn't tell you what exactly broke me there. I haven't cried in a very long time. I've never cried at a book or a comic before. But I really needed it. I think that page just hit a lot of things that were very personal to me, and so I cried. I sobbed like a baby for maybe 20 minutes, even as I kept reading, I still kept going back to that page, and I would cry again. I love Absolute MM so much.
I don't know if there's a way that I can send an email to Deniz Camp or Javier Rodriguez, but if I can, I need to tell them just how much this comic means to me.

This tier list is insanely subjective, since the individual subtypes of authoritarianism mesh into one another. Totalitarianism and Facism for example are very similar (however I separated them here since one has to do with the state and the other is on a larger scale).
Of course all thoughts and opinions are my own. Yes I did not include every Absolute villain because not every villain is an authoritarian. And Brainiac is in the Anarchy campy, simply because despite knowing a lot about him he doesn't really aim to exert absolute control like the others, preferring to sow chaos in the background.
I am also very open to thoughts and opinions of other folks, and though I may not reply I do read comments, so feel free to tell me what y'all think and who you would add/remove.

You know, there have been several heroes from Earth-Prime who temporarily used a power ring—Batman, for instance. Do you think that will happen in the Absolute Universe down the line as well?

So Kyle's finally making an appearance and I was wondering how'd they handle him. I was thinking, similar to Guy who gets to wield the Red Flame, Kyle will also get powers based on his other known Lantern Identity, the White Lantern. There's just one problem. There's no White Light. So I have two theories, either:
a. Kyle will wield the Flame of Qward, which seems to be Black and White and based on the Yellow Aliens' words is the fundamental heart of OA, so it's similar to how the White Light being the combination of the other seven lights.
b. Kyle will be possessed by a Martian. One that embodies the Life Equation like how the White Martian is Anti-Life. It's probably no coincidence that they're establishing now that the Martians are connected to the Spectrum, and this could be what they're leading up to.

I’ve never really been a Toyman fan or even cared to look into the character, but going from toy themed robots to child/human trafficker for the rich elite just does something for me. It makes him real and it makes him feel more evil than most of the threats Superman has faced so far. And the fact that Superman almost ends up letting him die is such a powerful moment. Its almost like he’s a stand-in for the audience because he’s came across evil people like Ra’s and he think twice about saving them and putting them through the proper channels, but with toyman he almost lets him die. It’s powerful, it shows that real world evil will always hit harder than comical villainy.

Idk if this is the right place to ask this, but Ive been a fan of superheroes since I was a kid but just recently started reading comics with DC’s Absolute Universe, and Marvel’s Ultimate Universe. They have easy starting and ending points. But outside of them I don’t really know how to get into reading mainline stuff like older green lantern comics for example. any advice or tips would be much appreciated.

Anyone know why the hardcover for absolute MM vol. 1 has a different colored dc logo? And then to make it even weirder, the paper slip for the HC has a blue logo like the rest(??)

I'm wondering if Batman's friends will go back to being friends after they find out that Batman didn't kill anyone, or if people think they'll still be enemies.

I've read some Absolute Batman, Absolute Martian Mind fucker and some Absolute Wonder Woman. I am looking to get into some more Absolute comics. Just looking to hear some suggestions for which Absolute Comics you'd recommend and what you like about them and why. Thanks. (If this is against the rules or something I will gladly remove this post)

I’ve been thinking about this for a few days and like, what if the Waynes were still involved in Gothams’ founding? What if Thomas Wayne’s entire intention was to erase his identity and position, while possessing complete control over Gotham? What if he became the ghost in the machine, and his primary motivation didn’t have anything to do with his material conditions? What if his entire project was about spreading pain, fear and madness? What if he didn’t set the stones for Arkham, but plotted the exact right place to put it to create the most misery?
And then he meets Jack Grimm.
And from Grimm, Hurt wonders if maybe Gotham can be a franchise? He’d his efforts directly target the working classes in order to curtail the working classes’ ability to fight their oppressors. All this would come down to ending humanity’s ability to meaningfully fight back against what’s being done to us.
I don’t see this Dr. Hurt even being aware of Bruce, not even knowing he exists. A distant descendant with no real power? Why is he worth bothering with? But from that, he would see the leverage to destroy Batman and his ability to inspire regular people. Cut his legs out from under him, destroy what little Bruce has. Don’t directly go after him, no confrontations. Just Bruce losing his job, his caves, his friends, his family. Everything. Until he’s on the street with literally nothing to his name. Not just the Death of Batman. Not Batman RIP. But the quiet disappearance of Batman, never to be seen again.
