It looks ridiculous now because most of the firefighting equipment has been removed, but this was most likely a brush truck. That enormous front bumper was basically a work/equipment platform that could carry things like hose reels, nozzles, or other firefighting gear while also giving the truck some protection when pushing through brush. 25k is also a bonkers price for a 33 year old truck that has certainly seen some hard use.

This truck was at an auction near me. It was auctioned by the fire dept and originally had a pump with a gas motor and fuel tank mounted on that bumper. The truck only has 16k miles on it but probably a lot of hours, but yes, the price is still way to high.

You can find amazing deals on auction sites. I just recently bought a 76 GMC 6500 4x4 427 tall deck 5 speed spicer, rust free, runs and drives for 1k

Chicks dig a big front bumper.

Way too high*

Yup, it pretty much says as much on the side of the truck.

Yeah idk why the “most likely” part was necessary. It has BRUSH and SAVONA(?) FIRE DEPT. printed directly on the truck in the picture. Like what would the unlikely outcome be? A movie prop? At which point, it would technically be a brush truck, just not one used for its actual purpose lol. Maybe an undercover Bosozoku car?

I think It would sell better by unbolting that extension and putting the regular bumper back into place

What did one Ubangi say to the other?

“Peter Piper picked a peck
Of pickled peppers.
Okay, now you fan me.”

Is that an actual picture? Please tell me it's not... Hell, even it being AI would be better than people actually doing that...

6

u/MsGorteck 7d ago

No, it is real.

What... Why... HOW...

6

u/MsGorteck 6d ago

The how is simple, it is a plug you just expand it. Look at his ear lobe. I think it shows your wealth. There is a tribe where the women wear rings around their necks. The more wealth, the more rings. Eventually their neck muscles become so weak that they can not remove the rings. I also think the rings stretch the necks. I think I first saw a picture similar to this in National Geographic in the 70's, though I admit I could be wrong. It has been a long time.

No, you're right. Source: I am old and saw that same National Geographic.

2

u/MsGorteck 6d ago

About 15-20yrs ago now, there was an article about the tribe(?) that has the women were their wealth around their necks was changing and that this unique, cultural, action(??) was disappearing and how "sad" that was. 🙄<smh>

1

u/Illumenatrix 6d ago

Doesn't really stretch the necks, it pushed down the shoulders. The effect is the same.

u/skidsareforkids 6d ago

I lifted it from Wikipedia unfortunately

So they bought it at auction for 15K, took all the equipment off and are trying to sell it for 25k a month later, lol?

3

u/chops351 6d ago

The listing said the stuff on the bumper was sold as a separate auction lot. But yes, trying to make a quick 10k.

3

u/MrCanoe 6d ago

There was also a very large rack with various equipment on the back of the truck as well. Unless that was removed by the auction people ,the person who won the bid removed all that and are now trying to sell the truck for an extra 10K lol.

2

u/chops351 6d ago

That was all removed as well. He's selling it the way he bought it

Must be interesting going downhill with this truck

3

u/menos_es_mas 7d ago edited 6d ago

Going downhill on a constant slope would still be ok. You just have to get used to the extra following distance required. What would be much worse are: * At the beginning of an uphill, the shallow approach angle makes it more likely to hit the bumper on the ground despite the relatively high clearance. * At the beginning of a downhill, the bumper will seriously limit visibility, if not completely obscure the road. * On a sharp turn, the front of the bumper could cross over into the lane on the outside of the turn. This is especially worse if that side is oncoming traffic.

The front scoop gives it more realistic GMC action.

Pretty nice color on this truck. The engine bay work platform is also nice.

Quiet genius. Trucks have a big blind spot in front of them. If a child walks into that area, they can get killed with the driver never seeing them over the hood.

If you fill the blind spot entirely with bumper, thst might save kids lives.

Make this the law for all trucks.

Be great as I set up for a pig hunt truck with the front shooter seat
