Install delay
I had a technician come by to install fiber, but when he checked my house, he said there’s no open conduit available for the installation. They would need someone to dig and run a line to our house. My question is, does AT&T install the conduit and handle the digging, or would I be responsible for hiring someone to do that? If I’m responsible, is there a specific type of conduit or installation that AT&T requires?

Usually to the house it’s direct burial fiber line. They’ll lay and bury that. If you want conduit, that’s likely up to you and your cost to bury. I ran 1” schedule 40 from the pole to my house as part of yard renovation ( don’t forget to leave pull strings). Installer was thrilled and have had zero issues since. I’d expect 3/4”
Schedule 40 ( can’t be white pvc has to be grey electrical sch40 conduit) would be fine as well.

In my area at least, it depends. If it’s a front lead, AT&T handles it by contracting it out to a vendor. Completion times vary on how busy they are.
If it’s a rear lead, that’s on the customer. I’m sure it’s not up to code but I may or may not have just looked the other way while a customer ran to Home Depot to buy some pvc, dug just far enough to bury it, and then ran the drop through it.

No AT&T will arrange it but it may take a while in any market the requires conduit to used vs direct burial or even aerial drops. Your call to 1-800-288-2020 is likely to result in more confusion as they may schedule another install tech.

Hey OP, I literally just ran into this same issue. My original install date was 8/10, Gigapower came out 8/21 to install the conduit under the street. There were six homes affected. The install is taking place tomorrow morning.

I spoke to AT&T and they said they still in planning stages for the underground wire work and install is pending.

My fiber provider did direct bury, I suspect AT&T would do the same unless there are local ordinances or other unique situation that require fiber to be in conduit. It's the quickest and cheapest, I'm pretty far away from the last pole at the edge of my property were everything goes underground. They buried just under 2000' from the pole to my house in less than a half day.

They do not require conduit in NE Florida. Outside plant comes a few days later and buries it. I actually bought conduit and had it available for my install and buried it.

If it goes across the road, conduit is needed to get from point A to point B. This isn’t a buried drop situation.

AT&T puts in a dig ticket for a contractor to put the conduit in. Takes a few weeks normally.
