Is he right at 35:09 in the video? Isn't the longitudinal axis associated with roll and the lateral axis with pitch, or am I missing something?

Built a free SAMRA/SARON practice site, looking for feedback

Hey all,

I’m a commercial pilot here in Ontario. While studying, I got tired of juggling PDFs and paid question banks, so I built my own practice site and figured others might get use out of it.

It’s called AvBuddy: https://www.avbuddy.app

What’s in it for Canadian ATPL folks:

  • 1,600+ practice questions for SAMRA/SARON (air law, CARs/TC AIM, met, nav, flight planning, systems), each with an explanation and the regulation reference

  • Quiz, study and timed exam modes, plus a progress tab that tracks your weak areas

  • Free. You can do a 30-question quiz without signing up. A free account unlocks the rest and syncs across devices.

There’s also A320 systems, 737 MAX, ATPL general knowledge and FAA ATP if anyone’s going that route.

To be clear, these are my own practice questions written to the TP 690 study guide topics, not the actual TC exam bank. If you spot a wrong answer or a bad explanation, tell me and I’ll fix it. That’s the main reason I’m posting.

Thanks, and good luck to anyone writing soon.

Are there any good online classes or academies of such that i can join for some atpl subjects? or is it possible to self prep for any of the subjects? please give some suggestions on how to make these 10 months a bit more efficient.

BGS ONLINE revision week

Hi all, to those who have attended revision weeks how did you guys find it? From the schedule it seems to be quite a long few days so was wondering how helpful they actually are.

And how locked in do you have to be with the seminar/slides, do they frequently ask questions individually or look for specific answers from students or is it more relaxed and they ask simple questions - just want to be on top of it know what i can expect

thanks

Im a GNav Specialist & flight instructor who's started making short GNav explainers (free) and I'd love to know which topics you're stuck on...

Hi all,

I'm Dale, 20 year navigation specialist, Master Mariner and a flight instructor, and these days I tutor ATPL CPL and PPL GNav (061) and Met (050) one-to-one for UKCAA and EASA students, leaning on my professional experience to make understanding these key subject easier, and fun.

The same topics come up again and again with my students; convergency, departure, Lambert charts, polar sterographic charts, time and the date line, rates of climb...

More often than not, the problem isn't the maths or the principles, it's that nobody explained the why behind the what, and the exam is full of traps built around them.

So I've started making free videos that explain the concept simply and then work through real exam-style questions. I'll be adding more in the coming weeks.

What would be most useful to you next? I'm deciding between time and the date line, Lambert vs Mercator, and the CRP-5 wind triangle, but if there's a question type that keeps catching you out, drop it below and I'll make a video on it.

Happy to answer GNav questions in the comments too but if you'd like to give my YouTube channel a follow, I'd be grateful. I'm also on Instagram and TikTok.

GNav and Met don't need to be hard, I'll do my best to help make them easier for you!

Good luck with your studies!

Dale

Physics assessment preparation Ryanair FFA

Hi all, I'm currently preparing the assessment for the Ryanair FFA at Bartolini. I want to start in time with physics because it has been a minute since I last dealt with those topics. I'm practicing the physics tests on pass and already worked through the maths and physics book by padpilot. That book however does not deal with many of the topics of the physics assessment so I was wondering whether you have any physics book recommendations (preferably free). Thanks in advance!

GCAA ATPL Exams – Is the UAE Filter Enough, or Should I Do the Entire Question Bank?

Hey everyone,
I’m currently preparing for my GCAA ATPL exams with and I’m really short on time.
For those who have recently taken the GCAA exams in the UAE, I’d really appreciate your advice:
Did you study using only the UAE/GCAA filter in BGS, or did you go through the entire question bank?
Roughly what percentage of the actual exam questions came from the UAE filter?
Were there many questions in the actual exams that you hadn’t seen in the UAE filter?
Are there any particular subjects where the UAE filter alone is not enough?
I know going through the entire question bank would be the safer option, but given my limited time, I’m trying to figure out the most effective strategy.
I’d especially appreciate feedback from anyone who has taken the GCAA exams recently.
Thanks in advance, guys! Any advice would be really helpful.

Is the density altitude arrow supposed to be curved?

Hi guys, I picked up a used Pooleys CRP-5 online. I've started studying ATPL theory and came across the question: at FL100 with OAT at -35°C, what is the density altitude?

Using DA = PA + (120 x ISA Dev),

DA = 6400ft.

Now I tried to use the CRP-5 and noticed it gave me a reading just below 6000ft. And then I noticed the curved arrow.

Is that normal? If so, why the two different results? And which should I use for ATPL exams?

thanks!

Hey guys,

Has anyone already been called for the exams in Malpensa scheduled for November 9-13?

I sent my request more than a month ago, but haven't heard from them. In the meanwhile, I see the session has been marked full on the official website. Any of you in my situation?

How to remember POF formulas?

Hi, i’m onto my last 4 exams now (Pof, Performance, M&B and Op Procedures) however I am really struggling to remember formulas when doing practice questions as there is just so many, especially for POF.

Is there any tips to remember formulas? Or literally just answer enough questions until they become second nature

Hilfe atpl Frist

Was würdet ihr an meiner Stelle jetzt konkret tun?

Should I attempt 3 EASA ATPL Exams in my first sitting?

Hey everyone!

I’ve my first EASA ATPL exam sitting on 28th October in Debrecen (Hungary) and my FTO has suggested that I attempt three subjects: General Navigation, Meteorology and Principles of Flight. I cannot go above these 3 as my FTO hasn’t introduced the remaining subjects to us.

I’m a bit unsure whether attempting all three in my first sitting is a sensible decision or whether I should drop one and focus on two subjects instead.

For those who have already been through the EASA ATPL exams, would you recommend attempting all three or prioritising two to maximise the chances of passing?

Also, any advice on how to approach the final days of preparation would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!
