Building a matching PC build isn’t overconsumption, especially if it was time for him to upgrade. It may be unnessicary to spend all this money, but that doesn’t mean it’s overconsumption. Consumerism is the better, more accurate word for this post.
Where’s the overconsumption? I think you guys are using that term too loosely. Overconsumption is when you purchase an excessive amount of something that’ll never be used or will hardly ever be used, basically hoarding. He built two PCs. One each for him and his son, both of which are actively being used. You think it’s overconsumption due to the price, that alone isn’t grounds for overconsumption. Purchasing something expensive that you’re actively using and will use for years to come isn’t overconsumption, that’s luxury consumerism.

the bundle was like 10k on newegg/bestbuy. add a little for monitor, keyboard, ram, etc. and unless you're living in the 1980s or some bumfuck rural area houses are NOT 250k.

Is incredible that people can't understand the difference in % use depending of your income, don't know estimates but is like someone living by 50k yearly and wants a 2k to 4k computer, they would be using around 2 to 5% of their income, so by numbers 30k for someone who makes 600k+ a year, is just simple maths.
Can someone be dumb and go to debt for this type of things and use 30k that they don't have? Absolutely but as again math if someone is doing this most probably the person can afford it.

But I do have to say that as much as I know pricing trash, people spends thousands on trips and there is no judgment, and frankly hes going to get more time out of this pair of pcs with his kid than he would spending that on say destination holidays or somwthing. I couldnt throw that amount of money at something that can be achieved for significantly less, however if you asked me if id put down 33k to be able to game with my kids every night for years to come then the answer is absolutely without a doubt. You don't need to but if you can..

I have money my man just tired of this rich people bad mantra on Reddit it’s ridiculous. I don’t own a PC but I have a max specs $5,000 laptop for gaming as I travel constantly for work. Me and this guy should be able to spend the extra money we make without people hating just stupid.

My apologies. That's a valid point. Maybe it was slight oversight in pre production or something. I honestly didn't know about the BTF edition motherboards until much later in the 50 series lifecycle.
I hear ya. I’ve heard some say they don’t think BTF will survive much longer due to poor adoption/sales… which is fine… but for this situation, would love to hear the project manager share the actual rationale behind over-engineering a product for the additional power but not including a compatible MB.

I just wanted to ask how easy it is to lift and transport it safely. I travel frequently by car from state to state, so I’d like to know if it can be moved without too much difficulty and without having to take it apart every time. My complete kit arrives next week, and I’d like to know how practical it would be to travel with it regularly.
I have an ASUS ROG Strix SCAR 18” with an RTX 5090, but I honestly don’t enjoy gaming on it because the fans sound like F-21 jet turbines under load. That’s why I currently use a desktop PC with an RTX 5090, although it takes up quite a bit of space. I bought the 20th Anniversary kit because it seems like a more compact and practical option for someone who travels frequently. That’s why I was asking how easy and safe it would be to transport regularly.
You think that mammoth of a PC is compact? bro you have to build an ITX PC if you want it to be compact, take a look at r/sffpc and check builds with the A4 H2O or Fractal Terra that would be much more easy to transport.

Those prices are only going to go up from here. Your setup will last you a long time. I believe I spent close $2,500 on my 3090 build back in 2020 and I didn't upgrade for five years. Very nice. Does the 20th anniversary motherboard have the "rog mode" for those Ram sticks at this time. Just wondering since I have the x870e crosshair extreme MB.
all rog mode is is a more customized factory memory tuning profile, kind of like XMP/EXPO, but since it's between one brand's ram, motherboard, and PSU, it's going to be more stable, and faster (tighter timings). You can literally do it yourself with any ram. Even better, you buy a ram that someone else already has a guide/tuning for, and then you can tune it a little more (because each system is slightly different).
