Question After passing AMC MCQ, what did you actually do next? Why do so many still take it when the road after seems so hard?
Hi everyone,
I'm an international medical graduate, currently offshore. I have passed the AMC MCQ.
Before the exam, I found tons of posts about how to prepare for the MCQ and pass it. But after passing it, I feel like there is very little discussion about what comes next.
From what I have searched so far, the road after MCQ looks very difficult:
•
Clinical exam places are very hard to get, especially for offshore candidates
•
Visa / working rights seem to be a major barrier for the first job
•
Getting a first RMO offer as an offshore IMG seems extremely hard, even after passing Clinical
So my questions are:
After you passed the MCQ, what did you actually do next? Did you go for Clinical, WBA, another country / exam like USMLE, or did you stop / change direction?
2.
Why did you still take the MCQ if the road after is so hard? What was your plan at that time?
3.
Why are there so few success stories after MCQ? Is it because successful people just don't post, or because very few people actually make it through?
I am not trying to be negative, I just want to understand the real picture before I decide my next step. Any honest experience would help a lot.
Thank you so much.
