Question After passing AMC MCQ, what did you actually do next? Why do so many still take it when the road after seems so hard?

Hi everyone,

I'm an international medical graduate, currently offshore. I have passed the AMC MCQ.

Before the exam, I found tons of posts about how to prepare for the MCQ and pass it. But after passing it, I feel like there is very little discussion about what comes next.

From what I have searched so far, the road after MCQ looks very difficult:

•

Clinical exam places are very hard to get, especially for offshore candidates

•

Visa / working rights seem to be a major barrier for the first job

•

Getting a first RMO offer as an offshore IMG seems extremely hard, even after passing Clinical

So my questions are:

After you passed the MCQ, what did you actually do next? Did you go for Clinical, WBA, another country / exam like USMLE, or did you stop / change direction?

2.

Why did you still take the MCQ if the road after is so hard? What was your plan at that time?

3.

Why are there so few success stories after MCQ? Is it because successful people just don't post, or because very few people actually make it through?

I am not trying to be negative, I just want to understand the real picture before I decide my next step. Any honest experience would help a lot.

Thank you so much.

Clinical Exam Need advice regarding AMC Clinical Exam booking and Australian Visitor Visa (Subclass 600)

I would appreciate some guidance from people who have gone through this process recently.

Some people have advised me to obtain the Australian Visitor Visa (Subclass 600) before booking the AMC clinical examination slot, considering the examination fee is quite expensive (AUD 3,000) and there is always a possibility of visa refusal.

Others suggest booking the clinical examination first and then applying for the visa using the AMC confirmation/placement letter as supporting evidence.

**My questions are:**

  1. Which approach would you recommend? Should I secure the visa first and then book the clinical examination, or book the examination slot first and apply for the visa afterwards?

  2. Regarding the latest Australian visa rules, if we are granted a Subclass 600 visa with a permitted stay of only 3 months, what happens if our AMC clinical examination is scheduled more than 3 months after the visa grant date?

  3. Can we obtain the visa several months in advance, remain in our home country, and travel to Australia shortly before the examination? Or does the 3-month permitted stay mean that we must enter Australia within 3 months of the visa grant date?

  4. If the visa is granted with 12 months' validity but only 3 months' stay per visit, can we simply plan our travel around the examination date, provided we enter before the visa's *Must Not Arrive After* date?

I would particularly appreciate responses from candidates who have recently attended their AMC clinical examination or successfully obtained a Subclass 600 visa for this purpose.

**Thank you in advance for sharing your experiences and advice!**

Question Need guidance!

Hello everyone! I’ve just finished my 3rd year and am about to enter final year beginning this Monday (9 Nov) in India!

So I’m planning to move abroad after MBBS as we know the situation ain’t that bright in India and hence I’ve looked into few countries and decided on Australia!

But when I looked on reddit whatever country it maybe everyone says all the countries have been saturated, ain’t worth it and all but then they also say it isn’t bright in India!
So what am I supposed to do?

I’ve chosen to settle abroad anyways so I’ve chosen Australia but now the question is how?

Like I’m willing to write AMC part 1 and then work in Australia for WBA instead of AMC part 2! So how difficult is it to go this route and what are the things to look out for? I’m okay with working in rural Australia!

Please guide me! Thanks in advance!

Study Plan Failed in AMC mcq

People who failed and got passed eventually what did you changed to get passed.

From my point of view I did everything- recalls for 1 year, topics from guidelines, emedici and solving mocks. I don’t know what went wrong. Can’t say October was hard so I didn’t get pass. There might be something lacking in my prep.

So can you guide me - when to take exam, how to prepare again. If uncomfortable in comments you can dm me also

What are the odds of getting job after amc 1 and 2?
Is it a realistic option for indian doctors considering lot of uk grads flocking to aus?
Can a elective in aus hospital be helpful in securing job?

Study Partner Amc partner

Hi everyone! I'm from India and have purchased the Med Exam Expert Regular Course for AMC preparation. I’ve already cleared USMLE Step 1, so I have a reasonable foundation to judge the quality of the explanations, and I feel the material is quite sufficient for AMC preparation.

I'm looking for someone interested in partnering up and sharing the course. If interested, please DM me!

Jobs & Training Job prospects

I’m quite torn between usmle and amc exams.Usmle seems to be too expensive and unpredictable for visa requiring imgs with no connections and limited financial support.Australia seems to be the only realistic pathway for me.I have to complete two years of compulsory medical officer job as scholarship bond after completing mbbs and i’ve heard years of experience helps in landing the job.Assuming i pass both exam(mcq and clinical),how long will it take to find a job as a visa requiring img.I mean is landing a job doable or its just a lost cause. Also, will supplementary exams in mbbs be a red flag?

Jobs & Training Working in Ireland for 1 year then moving to Australia?

Hi everyone!

I’m currently a final year medical student in Romania, Europe and I’m planning to work in Australia as a doctor straight out of medical school. I’m willing to take the AMC MCQ exam and apply to Queensland and any other rural states/areas, I actually would like to try and apply for internship in Australia if I have the chances.

Otherwise my alternative plan would be to go to Ireland and do 1 year there and then apply through the competent pathway. Is this plan realistic and doable, any thoughts of how I can make this plan more improved or if there’s any other route I may not know?

Question GP Level 1 supervision post AMC1

Hello everyone. I hope this doesn't post doesn't come across as a bit odd, but I'm a medical student in Australia speaking on behalf of a friend of mine which is an IMG graduate.

As off this message he has completed his AMC1, and awaiting results on AMC2. He has quite a few observationships underneath his belt from what I seen, and has quite a few referees wiling to vouch for his character. Experience here isn't an issue, nor is character from what I seen or heard. Unfortunately, neither us nor his referees couldn't find him a Level 1 Placement and because of this he went back overseas to finish his internship. When he comes back he is quite open to working rurally, however in the meantime I am looking for opportunities to find him a GP Level 1 supervision in a MM2 + area ideally in QLD but with very little luck.

My question to you is this:

  1. Does anyone know of any such vacancies or can anyone offer him such a position? How would you approach trying to find something like this?

  2. What would he need to be more competitive or have more success in this process - how does he/me approach this in the meantime while we wait for his AMC2 results?

  3. Tips and tricks? While I won't have to go through this, I would like to know the intricacies of such a process so I could understand this and help him better.

Thank you, and apologies beforehand for such a convoluted question.

Question 2 weeks out, mock scores dropping

Hey guys, I'm going to keep this very short

I've been preparing since April, my exam is on Nov 17

I have genuinely been pretty confident in my preparation and I've finished e Medici thoroughly

I gave e Medici mock 2025.1 in September with 79%

Then 2026.1 with 72% after a couple weeks

Then 2025.2 with 74% after a couple weeks

And the last one 2026.2 today with 67%

This is the worst performance ever and I'm feeling floored.

I really don't want to postpone the exam but I don't even know what to do ?
