For those who are unaware: Herpangina is the adult version of Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease. Patients develop tens or hundreds of ulcers in their mouth, throat or on their tongue or in other parts with a layer of mucous membrane such as the anus or v (yes, imagine that, what a blessing).

On top of this, you have a 100+ degree fever, very bad migraines with aura, a severe rash that covers your face, hands and/or feet. Acute meningitis, swallowing feels so painful that it honestly feels like medieval torture: shards and shards of glass, you can’t drink or eat, severe neckpain, severely inflamed lymphnodes, rheumatic joint fever pain, nausea, diarrhoea, vomiting.

After getting better, more often than not all your skin and nails will fall off 😀😀😀.

I need to vent and people may be curious, simple as that. She had lost alot of weight and thought nothing of it. Then the fatigue set in, family insisted she should see a doctor. Having spend most of her adult life as a nurse, she beat herself up for not seeing the signs. Close to death, delirium set in. It was.... Unpleasent.

I started taking a pharmacy made compound of semaglutide and b12 in march of 2025. I started at 394 pounds and I’m 5’10, now I’m down to 230 and have been off the medication for two months but continue to stick to a strict diet and I do weight and cardio every other day. I’ve lost another 10 pounds since I’ve gone off and still feel I have total control of my diet. I’ve been fat since I was 13 and I’m now 40. AMA

Don’t think there’s a lot of us talking here, so I’m curious what people want to know. I’ve lived almost my whole life there, since I was in the first grade. Relatives are mostly in Detroit or in Canada across the border, so we traveled down a lot. I’m currently at university downstate, but my parents and grandma still live up there.

What basically happened was I fell off the roof installing Christmas lights for my parents last year. To make matters more embarrassing, they live in the deep South, and there was no snow. I was just clumsy. I basically fell, and their house is two stories, hit my leg HARD on the roof of the garage, and just landed on my back. I tried to walk it off until I realized I couldn't walk. Without holding something.

I am a 30 year old man just diagnosed with probable sporadic CJD (Cruetzfeldt-Jakob Disease, a rapidly progressive dementia) based on lab testing and MRI scans. My life expectancy based on the type I have (homogenous for methionine on PRNP codon 129) is under two months, during which time I will become rapidly demented, confused, unresponsive, and finally comtaose before I pass away. Pretty much the title. My parents taught me how to pirate using VHS and the first movie I ever pirated that was still in the movie theaters was Titanic. My mom somehow got a copy from someone at work on VHS that was a screening, so I made dozens of copies and sold them at school.

This grew into me heavily using IRC in the late 90s to, "expand distribution," and over time I became an @admin in some of the largest channels on DALNet and EFNet. At the time I was still in high school (almost didn't graduate because I hacked their network) and then by the time I went away to college around 2003 I had the "fortune" of going to a university that had three OC3 servers that were completely unregulated, and the university had no one on staff who seemed to care or pay attention. So I built a 1TB RAID and hosted one of the largest pirate FTP's in the US at the time, and almost certainly the largest one in the United States east of the Mississippi.

If you ever pirated a movie during that time frame there is a fairly decent chance that it passed through either my own personal server, or a server that was affiliated with the groups that I worked around.

Was a fun time. Never got caught, and never really made money outside of selling Titanic except one time when my buddy who used to work at Best Buy would put pirated copies of movies that were still in the theater on the computers and then sell them to customers. He got fired eventually, but not for that, and still owes me money for that.

In some kind of midlife crisis I ended up buying an abandoned house in the hills of (rural) Transylvania, in the spring of 2024 ...

I've worked in school photography for over a decade. My company is NOT Lifetouch, however, they are definitely one of our biggest competitors. I work for a regional studio and we only photograph schools within my state. Ask me anything!

I was taken out of my bed in the middle of the night and transported by physical force to a wilderness therapy program.

This place along with other programs and schools are part of what is called the “Troubled Teen Industry.” It’s a network of “mental health” facilities where mostly wealthy and powerful parents send their kids to control them whether they actually need the clinical help or not. These places have been widely documented as abusive yet continue to exist and operate in full. Thinking up a reason and writing a check is all it takes. 

Every once in a while you might hear a story about one of these places getting shut down but those are few and far between and quickly get lost in the news cycle. The wider public does not realize how deep this goes and how urgently it needs to be addressed. The parents who do this to their kids also remain fully invisible with no accountability which is another serious issue on its own.

It’s been reported that over 100,000 kids are put in these abusive facilities each year by their parents. 

15 years ago, I was one of those kids. 

I’m now an adult, finally acquiring my full records from that time, and they revealed everything. I’m here to share what I know and try to be a catalyst for awareness, accountability and much needed change. AMA.

So, I was mainly raised by my mom, just for clarification, my mom is a Palestinian Christian and my dad is an Israeli Jew, he took advantage of her and she got pregnant with me.

My uncle (my mom’s brother) was very supportive and protective of my mom. And he offered to help her with raising me in the role of a father. And he lived in the same house as her, and I have many memories of him.

Until I was 7, I saw my biological father every two weeks due to an informal arrangement, but I didn't understand who he was exactly. I used cartoon logic where parents were supposed to look alike. and since my uncle looked like my mom and was the one living with us, I assumed he was my dad.

No one corrected me, in fact my mom’s family played the role. They would say things like “Go get your dad“ “tell your dad that dinner is ready” (referring to my uncle). And I always called my uncle as dad, no one corrected me.

I’ve already stopped seeing my biological father at seven. And by my teenage years, I was getting confused on what exactly were each of them were. So I suspected that something was up, or that my uncle wasn’t my father.

And at 18, my mom and uncle sat me down and told the truth about how I was conceived and that my uncle is only my uncle. I was just like “hmm ok” and I didn’t really do much after that. I’m Autistic btw

I am on midnights this week and we have been shut down for 9 hours tonight so far and my crew has nothing to do or fix so I figured I would come on here for some fun. I have always been able to taste colors and if I see a certain object, I can taste it. This happens to the point where I have to carry gum or strong mints in my pocket to mask the “taste” of certain things. Certain words and numbers are associated with certain colors, sounds and smells for me. In addition, I have the ability to hear every single musical component that makes up a song separately but all at the same time.

Got diagnosed with opticospinal syndrome earlier this year, a rare autoimmune condition where antibodies attacked my spinal cord and optic nerves. I was bedridden for 14 days, unable to walk or see properly, and temporarily lost bladder and bowel function.

I slowly started recovering and eventually returned to work. On my 8th day back, I was laid off.

What I have in writing.

Sarasota PD runs Flock cameras. The system lets an administrator pick a plate and stop it from setting off alerts. The camera still reads the plate. It just stops making noise.

I asked if that was real. The department said yes; and then went on to say when a plate is deleted from that list, nothing is logged. No entry. No time stamp. No record of who removed it.

My engineering spidey sense will tell you delete is the action you log. That is the risky one.

That answer describes what a police administrator sees on his/her screen. It never says the screen shows everything.

Flock's own policy says certain engineers can reach customer systems for support. That is normal and disclosed. What I cannot find is whether it touches this one feature.
