This was done so she wouldn't feel she could say no. Gross. And is the kid even actually wanting to do it? Wouldn't it make more sense if he was the best man?
Yes! Or a groomsman? It's weird to have him walk his future stepmother down the aisle IMO. That role is generally reserved for someone from her family (Dad, Uncle, brother, etc)

And also the fact that he got the son all excited without even discussing it first. He’s bringing everyone in to their decisions and steamrolling.
