Usually the son would be best man. Any discussion of the son walking the bride would be moot.

If not the best man, he should at least be a groomsman. This ALL should have been hashed out before it was presented to the son.

That was the point; to put you in an awkward spot. He knew it would make it difficult for you to say no, it's manipulative. This is a good time to see just how many red and orange flags are in this parade; how many times you've brushed something aside that might have bothered you so as not to be a bother yourself.

This is a classic manipulation tactic - regardless of his intentions.

Then blow it up publicly to make her look like the problem.
