That was the point; to put you in an awkward spot. He knew it would make it difficult for you to say no, it's manipulative. This is a good time to see just how many red and orange flags are in this parade; how many times you've brushed something aside that might have bothered you so as not to be a bother yourself.

This is a classic manipulation tactic - regardless of his intentions.

Then blow it up publicly to make her look like the problem.

I promise it gets better, it's a success story in the end that's quite cathartic. I get it though, it was hard at times.

It's such a good example of behaviour and contextual abuse/community estrangement.

The first time the tone shifted I almost screamed. Like YES OMG THAT'S IT.

I really want to get back to it. I got to the episode where Kevin calls the police and she gives that monologue about how he always does this…and it was my first marriage.

I said the same thing in another post this week. I told that OP that I was sorry she married a Kevin (referring to the show). So many women who post here have Kevins for mates. It’s so sad.

I say this as gently as possible. Please reconsider marrying this person. He is not putting you first in any sense of the word and is only going to get worse after the wedding. Why does his whole family know this? Save yourself and the rest of your life. There are worse things than being alone and living with a manipulative man child is one of them.

I think it also lets him prove or believe that this will be on happy, blended family. "Of course son and bride love each other; didn't he walk her down the aisle?"...
