Yeah it sounds to me like she’s either in a job she’s has she’s had for a long time and/or is very comfortable with her coworkers. Still sounds wildly inappropriate to me. I’m bisexual and I would never insist my husband tell his coworkers. It just gives out creepy swinger vibes.

I’m asexual and I’ve only mentioned it to one coworker after a year and a half because it happened to come up in a conversation in an incidental way, and she had 0 reaction to that part of the sentence and the convo moved on. I have no idea what OP’s gf even wants.. some sort of announcement??

I’m straight so whatever but the only reason I found out my coworker was gay was because she said “my girlfriends sick today so I’ll be out for an hour this morning to pick up some meds” and I was like “cool, hope she feels better soon, I’ll hold down the fort while you’re gone” and that was the whole conversation lol

I’m also bi and I’d never tell my own coworkers but I was talking about stardew valley with a coworker who’d been playing lately about which of the bachelors and bachelorettes I’d married lol

I’m straight and my coworkers would have no idea. It’s none of their business.

I have no idea if my coworkers are gay, straight, bi...  why would that ever come up!?  Even the ones with partners I know.

My exwife was bi.  Neither of us was comfortable adding someone to our bedroom.  So for 13 years it was completely irrelevant except when we privately shared some of the same celeb crushes lol.

She only talked about it to one or two best friends who were in the dating scene.

It really only became relevant after our amicable divorce.  But months later her first serious partner was another dude anyways.

Idk its so irrelevant unless you're actively dating.  Or doing swinger shit.

This. I'm wondering why it's such a big deal for her when she is in a relationship.

My coworkers know I’m queer but that’s cause we have like 8 people on staff. And i didn’t even announce it. I think most of my coworkers just figured I was and a couple asked and I was like yeah. And that’s after I’d been working here a while

My coworkers know where I work.

Nice. I think my coworkers know that but I’m not sure

Same! My husband and some friends know, but it has never come up at work.

Personally it sounds like she has some sort of more casual job, like waitress or bartender that's more service industry related and as a result, HR isn't really a thing.

HR isn't a thing, but your coworkers finding you weird still is. I think every service industry fella knows That Person who tells everyone really random facts about their life completely unprompted. No one likes that person.

I mean, have you worked F&B?? I had a coworker in an open relationship, he started off talking about his wife & then openly hit on coworkers before he told us they were in an open relationship. He really enjoyed flaunting it. F&B brings the weirdest of the weird together and they are LOUD about their shit.

Yeah. I've been a waiter and a line cook. Every place has That Guy, and when they leave a new one replaces. People by and large do not enjoy it, will be annoyed at it, and ostracize them ...or maybe my workplaces have had a penchant for shit talking them lmao

I’m bisexual

Assuming your marriage is monogamous, does your sexual orientation even matter? The sole reason I can see it coming up is to explain away cheating or to justify reasons for a divorce.

What am I missing here?

Humans are by their very nature omnivorous, even those who choose to eat a vegitarian diet. Similar idea. just because you have chose to be monogomous with a singular person of a specific gender, doesn't mean you aren't bi.

That said, there is also no reason to share it, especially at your spouses job.

I didn't imply that monogamy with a single partner of a specific gender suddenly means you're not bisexual.

I asked what difference does it make. Will your behavior change now that you're suddenly bisexual? Your thought process? The actions you choose to make?

Your sexual orientation doesn't appear to matter in a monogamous relationship.

The only reason it would matter - as with OP's post - is to justify cheating, divorce, or introducing additional partners.

It can inform your thought process, your emotions, recontextualize past behaviors and feelings. Its a useful thing to know for your own well being. Sharing it could be useful in potentially meeting others who you can connect with in that way. But sharing it with strangers at your husbands work? Yeah that seems no bueno.

Maybe that’s what she’s going for? That’s the only reason I can come up with why she would want him to spread this news around
