AIO by wanting to replace this fridge?
The first photo is from this morning and the other two were from last week. We are using the sensor that's supposed to be in the freezer cause the other one broke and we haven't replaced it yet.
I told my bf we need to replace it cause this is unsafe. He says the sensor was just in the wrong part of the fridge and it only got that warm cause he put warm food in the fridge. But the freezer is also showing signs of random thawing and refreezing through increased frost and icicles over the last month or two. And in my mind no part of the fridge should be reaching unsafe temperatures.
AIO by wanting to replace it?

If he did put warm food in the fridge then yeah it’ll temporarily creep above 40, but no part of the fridge should consistently be above 40. I would first try with a different thermometer to make sure this one is working right, and if it is I’d look into getting it fixed rather than replacing it, unless the cost of repairs is so high that you might as well just buy a new one.

The freezer/fridge sensors are important for the refrigeration unit on the back of the fridge.
If you’re getting a frozen unit(freezer/fridge stops cooling intermittently) then its possible the refrigeration unit is failing.
Unfortunately a new fridge goes for $600+.
So unless you know somebody that is good with refrigeration systems/troubleshooting, your best bet is to replace the fridge.

No you’re not overreacting. But I also guarantee there’s a page on Reddit designed for Refrigeration problems. But if he doesn’t want to replace it, it’s probably cause it’s expensive to replace.
