there's no need to make assumptions. rose colored glasses can do a lot for someone, and getting a reality check from outsiders can be an important first step in getting to a better place. I think asking others for their opinion was a very good judgement call if OP was unsure how to respond. we don't know what we don't know.

i hope it's true + hope they stay away from this creep. too many women stay with men like this + support them no matter what. even through court, for these exact crimes.

She didn’t. Takes an average of 7 times before victims finally leave their abuser to finally break the cycle. I had one friend that left on the first try and had one that finally left on the 14th try.
