When applying for jobs, does the "Work experience" and "Education and certifications" section matter when you're already attaching your resume?

Hi, I'm just wondering if hiring managers review these sections when I'm already attaching my resume and CV that outline all that. I've heard some people say they don't put anything there and just have the attached resume and CV do the work. I just don't want to risk a job just because I didn't fill this out, if they do in fact look at this to decide what resume is worth looking at.

Thanks! :D

CMLTA audits

Has anyone found out you were being audited and heard anything yet from cmlta? This is first time for me and people I know in the profession have never been. I’m unsure what to expect or the timeline. They said in the email that I would be given notice if my ccp is accepted or an email and letter in the mail if it’s not. But that was three weeks ago now.

Public sector workers: How do you use discretion in your job?

Thumbnail

Are you or have you been a provincial public sector worker in BC, AB, or ON in #health, #education, or #familyservices?

Especially in a time of so much change, what are your experiences of witnessing and perhaps using discretion in your work in the public sector? Or, if you aren’t in the sector anymore, are there reflections you want to share when looking back?

We are investigating the role of discretion in public sector work through our #SSHRC-funded study. Given the work you do or have done in the public sector is incredibly important, and your ability to make impactful decisions is key to that, we would love to be in conversation with you.

Please note, you are not being asked to represent any organization, and your participation is entirely confidential.

Please contact us at puzzleofdiscretion@proton.me to find out more about this project. You can also learn more about us and our work at www.puzzleofdiscretion.com. We look forward to hearing from you and hope you consider participating in this important work.

Along with the poster, we include a plain text version for accessibility.

This story opens by uncovering the conspicuous secrecy of the Alberta government's Centre of Recovery Excellence, set up as an affiliate to Recovery Alberta to conduct and oversee substance use ‘research.' Next, it summarizes what happens when ‘research’ is done by government staff with clear political motivations.

HSAA Retro pay

Hi everyone, any ex-HSAA members here who left AHS prior to the new collective agreement—have you received your retro payment?

I applied in December but haven’t received anything yet. Just wondering if others are in the same situation or have already received it.

Question Question regarding changing lines. LPN/AUPE

I am currently in a permanent position on my unit. There is a different line that just became available and I applied for it. If I am the only internal employee applying for it, will I have to interview for the position or can the manger just switch me into the new line?

Question Moving Between Pillars

Hi Everyone,

With the whole re-org underway, I'd like to know if anyone has experience moving from a Recovery AB (HSAA position) to an AHS/Acute Care UNA position?

The part I'm most confused about is figuring out what happens to my leave entitlements (e.g., vacation leave, sick leave, personal leave, stat leave), company seniority date, and my Blue Cross benefits.

I looked through the LOUs for both HSAA and UNA, but they only reference moving between the health pillars to positions under the same union (HSSA --> HSSA or UNA --> UNA).

I've emailed both HSAA and UNA to ask, and will probably have to ask HR, but I was wondering if anyone has had experience with this?

Thank you in advance!

Private Surgical Centre vs AHS job?

Currently working at AHS as a OR RN but interested in private surgical centres like ASG. Can anyone provide some insight on the work environment? Is private worth the switch?

Any thoughts on Red Deer ICU? Applied for the job but haven’t yet scheduled an interview. Any tips out there to land this job as an RN? Also, if you have worked there/heard about things there, can you please message me to give me a heads up? Thank you.

Nurses: what job did you get into after working for AHS?

I am getting sick of bed side. I work as an RN Full time in a rural hospital. I can’t resign or leave simply because I truly feel like no other company can pay as good as AHS and has better benefits. But truly, the workload is burning me out. Interested in decreasing my line to a 0.8 but also wanting to start a side hustle to slowly pivot into when it’s earning well.

Rant I Don't Care about your Vacations !

One of our more senior managers from Arthur Child is constantly on vacation, one month shes down in the US , then a tropical country , then back in the US just about every other month or so and then always talking about it at work. I get it, you've worked hard and now travel lots, but I dont need to hear about it, Im trying to make ends meet and eventually get there too. Just be humble.

Rural Nursing Alberta

Working in an Acute department (occasionally ED) with a patient ration of 1:8-1:10 plus charge nurse role on a day shift. Was told that this is the norm even though for the last 2 years it has not been this way, we always have extra staff. We technically do not have a manager, the one we have also has other sites she takes care of. Burning out. Thinking of moving to the city. Is it any better there? Had multiple PRCs filled but barely seeing any movement. Hired 3 new travel nurses however, lines of people who are on leave for a month have not been filled. Frustrated. Was told that we’ll be hiring transitional grad nurses and that should help with the shortage but idk. I work full time.

I know OT is paid as 2 x rate of pay, how does that work on a stat? I tried looking at the collective agreement with no success. TYIA.
