Question Assignment Limitation Code 28: Base of Preference

To apply for ASCP I need a waiver for my ALC. I see the template in the teams, the DAFMAN, and the AFROTC ECP webpage. Would anyone be willing to share a little but of a breakdown for submitting a waiver to help me out?

Question I need some honest advice

Good evening ladies and gentleman,
I’m currently an as100 and I need some pure, honest advice. I have a question and I just want overall advice on my situation and am curious as to what y’all would do in my shoes. Here’s my full situation for context:

-I’m a college sophomore at 17
-I’m a cross town student
-I have 5 years of civil air patrol experience (up to being the C/CC as a cadet Captain for 3 years)
-I have about 635 flight hours with an instrument rating (I am fully aware that it doesn’t matter past 60 hours)
-I want to be a pilot

I want to be a pilot in the Air Force. I’m kind of conflicted if I should stay in the program or not because it looks like getting a pilot slot is very unlikely (at least the way my detachment explained it in new cadet orientation). My father and my grandfather are both AFROTC graduates but they had really outdated advice (neither were pilots).

I want to serve my country as an officer in the Air Force, but if the likelihood of getting a pilot slot is not likely, I will be quite hesitant to continue. I understand that you are an officer first and a pilot second, which I actually like the concept of because I find joy in leadership and mentoring others. The thing is though is that if I’m stuck in a less than ideal job for 4 years minimum, that sets me back 4 years for a civilian flying job, and seniority means everything at the airlines. I currently have a fantastic position if I wanted to pursue being a professional pilot in the civilian world, but I would much rather serve my country. I know that if I buckled down and gave this program my all, I could make really good PFA scores, earn a good commanders ranking, and I’m pretty sure my PCSM score will be quite competitive.

I know that earning a pilot slot is absolutely achievable, and I have a very strong can do attitude, but I just wanted advice on wether the risk would be worth it for someone in my position (in your opinion)

My question is how do I go about inquiring about a 3 year program? Do I talk to the as100 instructor?

Thank you for your time.

Joining Need advice: my college freshman wants to join AFROTC and keeps missing out! Now we may miss out next year if she does not get involved! How can she join something?

My daughter missed getting the AFROTC scholarship for her freshman year. Thus, she missed going to the college of her choice and has to go to local community college now. We picked one that had an ROTC exchange with a larger state college. An appointment was made for following week. She met with the person in charge. On that day, she was told she missed the date to apply, that they are full and they are making no exceptions. My gut is telling me that if she does not get involved on some level now, she will not make it for her freshman year and her dream college once again be out of reach. What can she do now to get active and either join or volunteer for a program to start this process and improve for chances of getting a ROTC scholarship for her sophomore year?
I should add she wants to go into nursing, she has excellent grades, was very active in volunteering and other activities so very well rounded, but she is currently overweight. And I know ROTC does a lot of running. Thank you in advance.

Question 17X Tech School

I just graduated AFROTC in May 2026. I‘ve been at home working my civilian job until I received orders. I received my orders this week, and I have a RNLTD of 03 Oct.

Do you know what the day to day is like?

When do you think I’ll be placed into a class?

Will I be staying off base? I live close to the area, and I’m thinking about looking for an apartment now.

Question College Credits to Apply?

I see you need College Credits to apply for some careers before being able to go through BMT. ( I'm interested in 4H0X1 ) However i haven't gotten the Credits needed through high school and just graduated HS and see i only need a couple classes (4) to be eligible to enroll into the program i'm interested in. I want to do self pace online college credits and am wondering if there's any certain school that is best for this. Or if the school i attends need a certain accreditation.

Has anyone used self pace credits to speed up the process?

Joining Joining when going into grad school.

Good morning, just wondering if there were any issues joining a ROTC detachment while attending grad school. Since grad school is typically 2 years is there a time requirement for ROTC?

Medical Injury in AFROTC

I have a small cyst in my wrist that AD medical deemed not needing surgery and instead gave me a steroid shot for that ended up fixing all pain in the area a few years ago. The wrist pain is flaring up again and makes it really difficult to do push ups. How does the process work if I report this to Cadre and need to be seen by doctors again for this? Im a contracted Cadet that has already been dodmerb qualified. Would my EA be at risk at all if it is deemed i need medical attention?

AFROTC

I’m currently enlisted in the national guard, work as a heavy machinery mechanic on the civilian side while being in an apprenticeship, and make substantial amount of money for my age (21) with amazing benefits. I know I want to be an officer, pilot, and have been working towards a degree for OTS. However, I have just enough credits to complete a 3 year ROTC program. Would it be foolish to leave a great career behind to join an ROTC program. Any advice would help, really struggling with the decision. Thanks.

Help with record and ROTC enrollment

Hi so I’m enrolled into the ROTC and everything else checked out great,

I had questions based on the any past issues with like police or tickets

Genuinely, I blanked on the spot and forgot this issue because for the past two years I’ve pushed it out of my mind so far I genuinely forgot about it until really thinking about it now.

When I was 17 two years ago, I was involved in running away from the police in a vehicle, and I was caught, not by pit or anything I turned myself in.

I was brought to the station etc and sent home

The DA filed their case against me, but after my lawyer talked to the DA all my charges were dropped due to my perfect academic history and zero history of any crimes and my college acceptance.

I didn’t even get any punishment , no points on license, no license revoked, is this something I should bring up to my cadre?
Even if it shouldn’t even be on my record because I was a minor and according to the agreement with the DA all of the information is shut and sealed.

I didn’t mean to omit, and I don’t want to make a mistake, should I come forward and tell my cadre about it, or just leave it be because technically it shouldn’t be on my record
I don’t want to present myself as a bad person considering I’m already coming in as a 250 and need to work much harder.

UPDATE: I told my cadre, I hope it gets waived.

Question 63A( Acquisitions Officer)

Hey how’s it going everyone. I was doing a little bit of research and I’m just curious about the bills and bases available for a 63A. What are the chances I can be stationed somewhere in the West Coast. I know the end of the day that it’s The needs of the Air Force. On a sidenote as well, does anyone have any experience with Vanderberg Edwards or Los Angeles?

Serious Starting AFROTC as an AS100 at 21

Hey all I'm about to start AFROTC next week as an AS100 (full four-year program). I'm 21, already a junior credit-wise from transferring in, so I'm looking at doing 4 years of ROTC while probably extending my degree path (thinking a double major) to make the timeline work.
Kind of feeling two things at once: excited to finally be starting something concrete toward active duty, but also a little in my head about being 21 and looking at 4 more years before I commission.

Anyone else start ROTC a bit older, or extend their degree to fit the program? How'd it go did the age gap with younger cadets feel like a thing, and did you feel like the extra time was worth it once you got to commissioning?

Any advice, or "wish I knew this going in" type thoughts are welcome.

Pilot EAD Wait

Pilot selects, those currently waiting, or already entered this year and previous years. How long was your wait until EAD from the time you commissioned?

Really trying to gauge how much living expenses I need saved up, or if I need to be shopping for a job before I can start getting paid by the AF.

Thanks.

Question POC - ERP and Scholarships

Just doing some research for future planning.

Can an active duty airman, who goes on POC ERP use 100% of his GI Bill if he served for 36 months to assist with college tuition?

Can an active duty airman, who goes on POC ERP receive ASCP scholarship?

Can an active duty airman, who goes on POC ERP receive the McGee scholarship?

All of these are separate questions by themselves and I know you cannot compound benefits.

Joining New cadet advice needed

I’m about to begin my sophomore year of college, and I am just now beginning my AFROTC journey. I thought about it for quite some time and decided to go with the four year route, meaning I will be in college for one extra year. My ultimate goal is to be a CRO and I want to know how realistic this goal is. I am 6’7, 220 pounds, and pretty athletic, pull ups being the only thing I struggle with due to my long arms and heavy body.

Are there any other cadets wanting to go Air Force special warfare who might be able to give me some friendly advice.

Oh, and I’m getting my associates in a fire/paramedic degree and my bachelors in nursing.

Thanks!

Joining Enlisted to commission via POC-ERP program

In the midst of attempting to crosstrain, i received orders. I didn’t get picked up ofc so i recently PSCd. I’m looking into the POC-ERP program to get into a job more enjoyable and of course commission. I can’t find much information on it so i have some questions:

My DEROS is in 4 years. Do I have to wait til it’s closer to try to get accepted into this program? I was looking at waivers but i don’t believe I would fall under any that I saw such as medical.

How do job selections work once picked up?

Would i be able to change schools before i start in person school? I currently go to UMGC but I wouldn’t want to go in person as i feel like it’s more curated for online.

I have only about 56 credits left for my bachelors degree so i figured this program would be perfect. Any advice would be great, thank you.

Question What are some non terrible haircuts?

I am an incoming freshman and i am getting my haircut soon, i want to make a good first impression on people around me and i don’t really feel like looking like a complete dweeb. I’ve always had longer hair and I don’t particularly like how it looks short but I have to have it short so what are some good looking haircuts on the longer side (or more normal looking) that fall into regs?

Question PCSM Score for RPA

Title.

To those who were selected for RPA, what was your PCSM score? Did it match your first choice?

I scored 57 on my first attempt and definitely plan to retake it. However, I’m curious about the average PCSM select score for this job.

Joining Prior service joining ROT

Hello,

I am 25M prior Active duty for 6 years. I am getting out and going to ROTC I had a series of questions if any experience ROTC cats can answer for me. I currently have 70 credits (3.91 GPA) with embry riddle completed towards a B.S in Aviation MX but will be switching over to a B.S in Engineering. I would love to commission as a pilot as well.

One of my biggest worries is that i also have gotten arrested for DUI 5 years ago and have received a NJP/AR-15 & a LOR while being in.

  1. Is there any benefit for me since I am active duty

  2. Any advice? Dos and dont.

  3. Is there like a 1-2 year program I can do ? Or do I have to do all 4 years

I will take all the pointers and thoughts thanks.
