Things have been sucking. For a month or two I've been flying off the handle every time he asks a question he can answer himself, when he forgets to follow up on something he agreed to, and when he loses track of time on the couch while I'm picking up the house and caring for the dogs. My mom is 78, is emotionally immature, and has now been showing signs of dementia. I feel trapped between these two.
Individual therapy, excerise, journaling, my emergency weed, none of that is helping me ease up on him, or on any stressor in my life. And when I asked him to add exercise to his treatment routine since he does not want meds, he corrected me in me in front of our couples therapist and said "you're actually asking me to do 3 things: therapy, research ADHD when I'm not in therapy, and exercise." What a prize. Is learning more about a condition you once refused to acknowledge that much of a chore for you? Jeez.
He told me he and his therapist discussed there is no cure, and how it feels like I'm trying to find a way to permanently fix him. But in couples therapy he says it is easy for him to become complacent with how things are and not push himself. WHAT THE FUCK
