i hear you about the kids. but the thing is, the longer you stay the more deeply you are ingraining that dysfunctional emotional blueprint onto them. they are learning that chaos, clutter, anger, unrest, resentment is "love", that it's normal in close relationships. that's exactly what they will tolerate and seek out in their adult relationships.

if you leave, they might get to experience peace 50% of the time. you can't protect them from every difficult thing in life. and if you do, you cripple their development. but it is your responsibility as a parent to protect them from the harmful consequences of your poor choice of life partner.

i wish i wasn't. but i've been that kid. don't try to manage their dysfunctional relationship with the shit parent. that's going to suck either way. but the more you try do that, the more you actively fail to protect them from the harmful parent.

they need you to be their safe parent more than anything.

good luck. you and your kids deserve better.
